quilteryoyo lovely rose! Cannot wait to see what it blooms to. The roses I got from my Dad have a most wonderful fragrance also. And SO busy. Funny about having to make separate trips to the vet. I would just crate them separately. ANy update on the new car?
Daria that is MEGA terrifying about the TIA. I have heard of blood clots and other stuff and even getting heart issues following surgeries. Glad you got him to the hospital quickly. And yeah it just means Scott you need to run outside MORE before your brother's surgery. Because more running is always the answer.
Chris you are having a great month. Upping mileage AND faster too I see. Hope it is feeling easier.
Not much commenting on everything/everyone but I am trying to stick around and keep up. here and on strava. Yesterday my run was still over 13 but felt a little better. Starting is really hard. However walking seems to be irritating my foot more. Probably because I experimented with a different shoe. So interesting how much of a difference the shoe style makes now that I have an injury to work around.

I ran 4.5 miles this morning before heading out to tour a castle and palace today.

Nice run @chris_in_cal !
@ContraryMaryMary Sorry you missed parkrun, but sounds like you needed to sleep. I hope sacrificing your Saturday for work pays off in the long run.
Nice running @tarun_yadavA .
Thanks @SummerSkier . Isn't it weird how sometimes walking hurts worse than running? I hope your foot gets back to normal soon. The rose didn't look as pretty as I imagined it would, but the buds are beautiful.
You're doing great this month @Mari33a .
@Teresa502 You are doing great keeping up with your runs on vacation. Looks like another fun day!

My landline is out again. It makes it hard because my cellphone doesn't work good here either. This morning, I wound up having to go down to my mom's to talk to her, because we couldn't really communicate any other way.
When I got home, I decided to do a treadmill wun, not planning on going very far. I just didn't have a ton of energy. My legs were a bit heavy and tired. I was actually surprised that I kept going and ran 3 miles. I did a run/walk of 2/1 min at 4.5-5.0/4.0 mph and then 1/1/1 min at 5.1-5.7/5.0/4.0 mph. Avg pace was 12:50 min/mile. Avg HR was 119 with a max of 143 bpm. I walked 0.25 miles at 3.8 mph for warm up and then 0.25 miles at 4.0 and 0.25 miles at 3.8 mph for cool down.
About the time I finished, mom texted to let me know that the mailman had run, so I decided to go ahead and walk down (did a wun) to check my box and get in some extra fast miles. I did a 1.25 mile wun - avg pace 15:03 mph. (I didn't run outside because it rained last night, so the driveway was wet and slick. I figured a short wun would be safe enough.)

Nice run @emptydog, not sure about you, but I tend to run farther when it's sunny.
@quilteryoyo - Awesome report from the cardiologist!, & while its expected from you, I hope you realize, it's expected because of what you contribute to it? You're Awesome! Totally want to see the rose blooming shot.
On my balcony, I plant several plants never knowing what may show up, it's often quite surprising.
Fantastic 6K @chris_in_cal !
Sorry about the work conflict @ContraryMaryMary, hope you get your run in tomorrow!
Nice run @tarun_yadavA!
More running is the answer @SummerSkier.
Nice run @Mari33a, rest days a good thing!
Beautiful castle & great run @Teresa502!
Those are very pretty roses @quilteryoyo! Love the colour!June:

Happy 10K finish!So another transport misstep!
Got on the subway early enough but hit a snag on the streetcars! Luckily I ran into a young woman runner in the same boat and we (she!) got ourselves to the proper connection. Not sure if we'd make our starting time because of heavy traffic, but ran into 2 brothers running the race (older bro had signed up his little brother for a 10K run on his birthday! Surprise ! & his first run!) Sweet guys, they had ordered an Uber & then invited us to join them. The streetcar we were supposed to get on, was totally blocked by an accident, the Uber drove around them, the brothers totally saved us, never would have made the start without them.
Love fellow runners!
End result - Totally made my start time corral. Not my best 10K, not my worst 10K, but pretty happy as I was running on about 2hrs of sleep & was way overdressed for the run….had to stop at each of the water stations to get water & mop up my face as I was so hot!Lost a ton of sweat. Note to self - dress less regardless of what the weather network says.
Finished the 10K in 54.36.
Top 25% in my category.Top 30% overall.
As this race attracts mostly folks, much younger than me, I'm pretty pumped about the top 30% finish!!
5 -
That's some story on just getting to the race @John772016 ! Love that you all helped each other out. Sounds like you did great given the conditions and the way you dressed. I think you had a great finishing time. Congrats on the top 30% finish overall. My last race was starting cool, but knew it was going to get warmer. I had heard about sleeves from some of the other runners here and had bought some at the expo the day before. I was so glad that I had them. They saved the day for the pre-race wait and through the rainy part of the race. If you don't have any, I'd highly recommend you invest in a pair.

Did a trail run this morning. Tripped 3 times but no wipe outs. Legs felt weak not tired, not heavy but just have no strength kind of weak. Weird. Ran through lots of wild roses.
7 -
OMG @WarmJellyfish, what’s with you and tripping? I’m glad you avoided damage!
I’m so glad you got to the start on time @John772016 And congratulations on the good results.
Loving the pics @Teresa502. I have another Strava friend in Germany at the moment so my feed is being bombed with fabulous castles and scenic runs. Very envious.
I got my long run in today. Did 17km in the rain - it’s ridiculously wet here at the minute. My poor garden is literally 2-3cm deep in water. I haven’t lifted my dahlias so that may be a problem for next season 😬

Morning all.
Got in 5.0M at 11'16.
Heavy night last night!
I feel... Just plain wrong. 😖
@daria0919 OMG 😱. Hope husband is doing better now.
@Teresa502 lovely pics!!
@quilteryoyo @John772016 thank you. 😊
6 -
@ContraryMaryMary thats what I want to know as well.… prob my gait, im not lifting feet enough 🙄
2 -
Nice run @WarmJellyfish . So glad you didn't actually wipe out. My legs feel like that every once in a while. I figure it's not enough sleep, dehydrated, low blood pressure, low blood sugar or something similar, and just cut it a bit short and wait for another day. I love wild roses.
Great long run @ContraryMaryMary . I hope it dries out a little soon.
@tarun_yadavA Great job getting out there and getting it done.

81 of 225kms have a bit of catching up to do
@quilteryoyo I think its the sleep apnea I have causing this. Its mild, I am not wanting to go on cpap for now, just being stubborn 😂 oh when I was younger and could muscle my way through things not anymore... 😡
Sunday did another short trail run. Felt stronger this time, not the weak musclely feeling of saturday. Saw a beaver. Rains evening before made everything muddy and rather slick. We have clay this bits, oh slippy slidy fun on that pictured track, which was a bit technical in some bits. I spooked a mama deer who nearly trampled her fawn trying to get away. I think the fawn was ok seeing it run away. I gave mama time to go catch up with baby.

@ContraryMaryMary Lunges are hard.
@chris_in_cal You are doing great.
Nice run, as usual @tarun_yadavA .
Nice running @WarmJellyfish and pretty trail. Yeah, I had a cpap for a while, but quit after I lost about 10 pounds and the new test showed it wasn't "bad" anymore. I hated using that machine.
Nice run @emptydog .

Thanks @quilteryoyo, I'll have to check out some sleeves. My physio said similar at my appointment this morning as he knows it's my arms/hands that can't stand the cold. He also mentioned that sometimes he'd double up on the shirts (using a shirt with long sleeves that he doesn't like on the outside) and do a 'strip & dump it' along the race (since they collect clothes and donate them to shelters).
Nice runs @ContraryMaryMary(& thanks!), @tarun_yadavA, @chris_in_cal, @emptydog!Nice trail runs @WarmJellyfish! I'm pretty sure I'd be a muddy (& likely bloody, given my wipeout history) mess after either trail. Congrats on no wipeouts!

Hi all! New to this app, and this thread. Training for my first (sloth-slow) 100k around a crazy schedule. Going for a goal of 15 miles per week the rest of June as I work on my base. Best wishes on your goals, trips, and healing!
5 -
Nippy here this morning, I’m guess about 3 or 4 degrees C (37-38F). Stunning sunny morning. No frost but gloves needed. Did 7k.
Welcome @nhgodiva. When is your event?
@WarmJellyfish, mud is my least favourite running condition, especially slippery clay - that will have me on my butt!
7 -
That's my goto @John772016 I put on my race gear and layer over it with bunch of stuff for donation. At the start of the first KM I strip off extra stuff as needed and leave along the side of the route.
Old, worn, cheap garden gloves for the win!

I have not had time to post. We had our family reunion this weekend. It was not without a little drama, but all in all a good time was had. My son came for it, but my daughter didn't make it this year.
On Friday, I ran 6 miles. It was a nice run. I saw a fox again, but other than that it was uneventful. Saturday was my usual rest day.
Sunday was my long run. I checked the weather before I headed out. It was 77°F and sunny and looked like it was going to be really hot. About 3 miles into the run, it started getting cloudy to the north. I was surprised, but I had checked the weather before I left and there was nothing on the radar and it helped with the temperature, so I kept running. A couple of miles later I heard thunder. I stopped and checked the weather and there was a storm about 15 miles away and headed towards me. I started heading home, hoping to beat the storm, but I did not. I stopped and was about to text my husband to come pick me up when a nice young man stopped and asked if I wanted a ride. I asked him his name and it turned out that I know his parents and grandparents, so I took the ride. He was as nice as his parents and had his 4 year old son with him. I actually baby sat for him and his sister a few times when I was in high school. There are some advantages to living in a small town. I did end up cutting my run short though and only ran 7.63 miles.
I had to work today. I usually take off the Monday after the reunion, but I am not eligible for PTO yet. I got up a little late, but I managed to get 5.75 miles run today.
Now I need to go back and catch up on all of your posts.

Welcome @nhgodiva . 100K is amazing at any pace!
Nice chilly run @ContraryMaryMary .
@kgirlhart I'm glad there was only a little drama at the family reunion. I'm glad someone you knew stopped and gave you a ride back home when it was storming. I agree, there are advantages to living in a small town.
Nice running @John772016 , and @tarun_yadavA .
