Posting two days of activities.
Yesterday I worked from 7:30-3:30. I was supposed to work until 4:30, but mom had texted to let me know that our neighbor could help us mow her lawn today, so I was able to leave early. I was home just long enough to make a couple of needed phone calls and then headed to mom's. After we mowed, we sat, drank some iced tea, and talked a while. It was after 7 before I got home. So, to keep the streak going, I went out and did a short driveway wun…avg pace was 4.0 mph.
Today, I worked again - 7:30 - 2:00. I left earlier today because…….I got my new car delivered!!
If you look behind the car, you will see mom's "little" garden. It's coming along nicely.
Mom and I drove to town so I could go ahead and pay my car insurance and register the car. Unfortunately, they didn't send me the right paperwork to register the vehicle in TN (got it from SC). I called the dealership and the person I needed to talk to had already gone home. I'll work on that tomorrow. It drives really nicely.

@quilteryoyo That is a good looking car. Have fun!

I ran 2.31M at 13'49. I dogged it. It was hot, I was feeling dehydrated, and I felt a shin twinge in my ancient stress fracture site. I did make it through the workout though.

Great running everyone! I'm glad you made it to your race @John772016 . Looks like you are having a great trip @Teresa502 . Beautiful flowers @WarmJellyfish . And I love the new car @quilteryoyo ! That color is really pretty.
I ran a 6 mile interval run this morning. It was hot and sweaty. It was fun and I felt like I did a good job of hitting the paces for the intervals.
I had to come to Austin for a conference tomorrow, so I won't be running in the morning. I don't really want to run alone, at dawn, in downtown Austin. The hotel does have a gym, but I have never run on a treadmill, and I would be nervous to try it out by myself. I did bring my yoga mat though, so I am planning on doing a little yoga tonight, and again in the morning.

Pilates and a 20 minute recovery run for me today. My legs were shot from Monday’s Pilates so things were rather slow. And freezing, if lovely and sunny (yes, I know my freezing is not actually freezing - far from it - but it’s all relative!)

You could run on town lake Kgirl. When I visited here the first time that is what I did but I had a work friend with me (male) so being alone I would not have.
Nice Quilteryoyo… What color is that? I am seeing a lot of new cars in the gray shades these days.
I am still resting my foot from running and only doing minimal walking to get around. I decided this because after my 4 miles the original injury was still the same but I think I was using a funny gait and my instep felt strange so I did not want to cause another injury by altering my stride to weight differently. Taking a few weeks off is probably better than having secondary PF or something show up due to stressing other parts.
Cannot believe it is freezing in the southern hemisphere already altho we do have the solstice this Friday.
Chris, be careful. Are your shoes new? My shin always starts to bother me when the foam wears on my shoes. Even after only a couple hundred miles or months (I think both can be the issue distance or age).
5 -
Thanks @chris_in_cal . Glad you made it through the workout. I hope the twinges were nothing to worry about.
Thanks @kgirlhart . Nice running. I hope your conference goes well. You're going to have to seek out another runner in your new work group. Room yoga is a great alternative.
You're doing great @ContraryMaryMary .
Thanks @tarun_yadavA . Nice run this morning.

@SummerSkier [Are your shoes new? My shin always starts to bother me when the foam wears on my shoes. Even after only a couple hundred miles or months (I think both can be the issue distance or age).]
I'm thinking about this too. I bought two different pairs of new shoes about two months ago and decided to run in one and save the second one for later. Now, I think I'm going to mix it up and alternate them.

Nice car @quilteryoyo! & I would love a 'little' garden like that.
Nice runs @chris_in_cal, @kgirlhart, @ContraryMaryMary, & @tarun_yadavA

Hi everyone!
I haven’t been posting lately but I have been running. I feel like I am as busy now as I am getting ready for Christmas with the end of the semester, end of the school year, and loads of social engagements and appointments. The running is going well and I am doing my best to get out as often and far as I can. I have a 5+k race in 2 weeks which always has a huge crowd as it is 3x around the city center. I guess I am looking forward to that challenge.
Today I ran 11.6 km. I am trying to regain my local legend status on one segment my most common route (just for the fun of it, I really don’t care that much) but it seems as if I have some stiff competition now ;) so it might take some effort.
158.3/270km for June.

@AlphaHowls I am so sorry to hear about your aunt!
@Mari33a I am very sorry for your loss as well!
@daria0919 I hope your husband is doing well!
@Teresa502 I see you were at Neuschwanstein :)! I hope you are enjoying the Alps!
@SummerSkier I am sorry to hear that you are still on the mend. I hope you can get back to running big miles soon!
@quilteryoyo Congratulations on your new car!
@chris_in_cal Great running!
@John772016 That sound like a stressful race start. I am glad you made it on time. I love how supportive other runners can be!
Everyone that I didn’t get a chance to post on @ContraryMaryMary, @tarun_yadavA, @kgirlhart, @WarmJellyfish, @nhgodiva, and anyone I may have forgotten, great running!!!!
7 -
@nhgodiva Hi! waves! Another 100k-er wanna be! Woot. When is your race?
@SummerSkier slow and steady wins the race
@ContraryMaryMary I sometimes just ski down the muddy bits, not always successfully🙄, at least mud is soft to land on. Practice from snowy trails 😂
@quilteryoyo nice car!
@Laurz9191 @John772016 @kgirlhart @chris_in_cal @tarun_yadavA @emptydog & anyone I missed, nice running!
It's been awhile since I did a 5k race, I think I should do one again sometime, just for speed training
7 -
You guys really inspire me to hang in there! And good to see new faces also. I did a test balloon mile yesterday morning and then a mile walk after work. I am not sure I am ready for prime time but mentally it really helped HAhahaha. I am a bit mental.
6 -
Yesterday's 6k run is a route I don't like, probably because of the all traffic lights I have to cross, no shade, late afternoon sun so a bit warm, but I still do it just for the mileage. Been procrastinating, finally got it done. Heat training.
The rest of this week is interesting. Today will be nice weather. From Friday through Sunday, we're going swimming for the next few days with an expected heavy rain deluge coming for 3 days. Need to find my snorkle and flippers. Super rare event since it's usually so dry here, so this will be a lot of rain for us. Forecast is for about 100mm over the 3 days including snow in the higher elevations. Will be interesting doing the trails in the rain. Slippy slidy all over I suppose. Have a longer run to do. Gotta get wet sometime or I might go hide indoors and watch a movie…..
4 -
I rotate shoes constantly @chris_in_cal, mostly because I try to run a lot & want to make sure the shoes have a chance to dry out, but I'm also convinced the foam lasts longer because of it. No actual proof 😂 🤷♂️
Nice run @Laurz9191 (& thanks!)
Depending on who you ask, we're all a bit mental @SummerSkier!
Nice run @WarmJellyfish (& thanks!). I hear you on the traffic lights, no shade, etc… I have days where my planned routes change entirely so I can 'find the shade' and/or 'follow the lights', so I don't have to constantly stop. Makes for some weird routes. Be careful on the trails during the upcoming deluge!

Made an error in my totals the other day, corrected now.
I had originally planned a rest day today but —>the temps took a dip with the storms overnight & were just a wee bit higher than perfect, and the morning rain finished long enough for the streets to dry off from the high winds….so took advantage of it for a quick 7.5K.5 -
Morning all. Did my Thursday 10k today (it’s Friday).
Long weekend here so have some extended family coming for a mid-winter Christmas dinner.

Hello everyone!
Got in 13.13 miles at 08'55 pace.
Thought I'd sign off a 9week streak in style!
On hols from tonight. So will 'run see' when/where I can.
6 -
13.13 ea? That's gonna be the new 777 @tarun_yadavA
😂 have a safe holiday!
@John772016 I rotate shoes a lot also because I think it minimizes stressing body parts. getting hot here now i think. Barely cracked 80 overnight.

Some terrible news from yesterday. There was a rock fall at Banff National Park at a popular waterfall viewing spot. There was one fatality and 3 significant injuries. The deceased and 1 injured are from a group I hang out with. I didn't know them, heard of them, but there were others in the group that I know and am glad they are safe. Nature and mountains can be dangerous. I cancelled a backpacking trip this weekend because of the incoming rain but I see some groups still haven't cancelled. SMH.

Oh @WarmJellyfish very sad! 😥
1 -
I'm two days behind. Trying to catch up while the littles are sleeping.
Thanks @John772016 . Great running and taking advantage of the weather changes.
Nice running @Laurz9191 . Good luck with the 5K and getting your local legend status back. And thanks for the kudos on the car.
Thanks @WarmJellyfish . Nice running. Be careful on those slippery slopes. You don't need another tumble. Oh no. So sorry to hear that news about Banff. So sad. Good idea to cancel your trip.
@SummerSkier I think we may all be just a little. I hope you get back to prime time soon.
Enjoy your family get-together @ContraryMaryMary .
What a great run to end your streak @tarun_yadavA . Enjoy your family holiday. Looking forward to hearing about your run sees.
I'll try to posts my exercise for the last couple of days tonight. I don't have the info with me, or I would do it now. I wasn't counting on it being so hard to get my runs in this week. I hope I can make up for it next week…while on vacation….maybe?

Just started running again. I'm still suffering from what I now know is a slipped rib and can't do strength training. Spent some 10 days traveling to, in and back from the Arctic where I mostly walked a lot. So now I've started again. By doing so I started a new running programme because there was no point to restart the old one. Not really tracking for the rest of this month I guess. I'll decide tomorrow.
5 -
I ran 4.58M at 13'02 out at my favorite lake run. It is a perfect five miles around with no cars or intersections.
For you "I love the quiet crack of dawn to finish my run before I start my day" types. I am on holiday so last night I told myself I was going to run first thing in the morning. This morning I ultimately began my run about 11:30 a.m. So still officially "morning". I've joined your club.
6 -
Nice run @ContraryMaryMary! What's on the menu?
Great pace for your 13.13 @tarun_yadavA! Enjoy the holidays!I heard about the massive rockfall this morning on the news @WarmJellyfish, very sad. They announced a few minutes ago about finding another fatality but they believe everyone is now accounted for. Was reading some of the eyewitness accounts, sounds some were very lucky.

TLDR: I am still on the run
So, I am here, sort of. It feels like we have made the turn into the home stretch. Mom has hit the edge of end stage kidney failure (16% function). So, this week I asked for Hospice. I am overwhelmed and trying to hang on to my emotional and mental state.
The caregiver I have had since August 2024 is moving away. I have found another and hope this one will be with me till the journey ends. I am not doing well with 'changes'.
My sleep is nonexistent since Mom wakes up almost hourly. This past week I fractured a crown and had to get it removed and fixed. I feel like I am chewing on tinfoil. I had the temporary put on yesterday and let them fix 3 other spot. Let me just say, "don't do that". Now I am sore and chewing on tinfoil. My right jaw is inflamed from stress (clenching).
6 -
@yirara I'm glad you figured out what your issue is and now know what to do to manage it. I'm sure you had a great time in the Artic. Any cool pictures?
Hahaha @chris_in_cal . Not exactly the crack of dawn, but still morning. Great run. You are going to do great on your 5K.
Hang in there @AlphaHowls . I know from experience that starting Hospice for someone is a hard step to make. I hope the new caregiver works out. Sorry about the tooth too. Your teeth can affect how your entire body feels.

Posting three days.
Wednesday I worked until 2:00, came home and mom, my neighbor, and I built an electric fence around mom's garden. I came home with the plan to do a slow wun, but since I was short on time, I wound up going faster than expected. I counted the first mile as a run, at a 13:21 min/mile pace and the last quarter of a mile I walked for a cool down. I ate a quick sandwich, took a shower, and headed off for church.
Yesterday, I worked until 4, ran some errands, got home at about 6pm and went out for a walk, hoping to not sweat much - not wanting to take a shower. But, due to the humidity, I was a sweaty mess anyway.
Today, I worked until 4:30. I did a slow driveway wun after I got home - avg pace was 15:32 min/mile. It was a lot less humid today, but still pretty sweaty at the end.
I'm glad I don't have to be anywhere early in the morning and hope to sleep in. I do have a lot to do to get ready for our trip, but sleep is a priority as I haven't slept much the last couple of weeks.

I'm posting two runs again. I took a rest day on Wednesday. We got home kind of late after the conference so we decided to come into the office later on Thursday. I was able to sleep in some and get a 6 mile run in. This morning, I was kind of dragging so I didn't get out as early as I needed to, but I did get a 5.62 mile run in.
@AlphaHowls I am so sorry about your mom. It seems like everything is hitting you all at once.
@WarmJellyfish That is so scary. I think we often forget how dangerous nature can be.
