This is the best news I could read, @LittleSurferGirl7! You can do it!
I know I've been absent. We took a trip to NYC and Bermuda and frankly, I've been drinking way too much again.
I've had some real discussions with God over the last few days, and I've given it to Him. Yesterday, I threw out the rest of my wine and was AF. I'm going to coast into July with 3 days AF under my belt and make July dry! I have to for my health, for my mental health, for my weight, and for living life in general. I'm soooo tired of worrying about if I have enough wine to finish my evening or stocking up so I don't have to worry. Enough is enough.
As a show of commitment and an acceptance of believing that He will help me through, I also cancelled my drink package for an upcoming cruise in November. Drink packages make me drink far more than anyone should on any given day "trying to get my money's worth."
I'll see you all in the July thread. Happy Sunday and make today great!!

Congratulations @LittleSurferGirl7 !! Super awesome news…
@chicbuc ~ I feel you…. yesterday was a party….I had a couple of margaritas and wine in the evening. Days prior… I was returning to old habits…finish the bottle and maybe open another…just spiraling but I can't and wont do this. I was doing well with less and then the news of my sister made me want to escape…but we all know, there is no escaping. Congrats on taking back the control!!
Two things come to mind for me:
- Someone said, not sure if it was here, but "there's always something"… and by that I mean there's always something that I allow to interrupt my plan, my progress etc. I have to get past this…there will always be something…good news and bad news…
- Create the life that you don't want to escape from…..maybe easier said than done, but I want to get here…
Let's rock July!!!!

I am so sorry to hear about your sister. Sending prayers and hugs for you first and obviously for your sister. I hope you find some peace as you navigate the intricacies :hugs:

Thanks everyone for your kind words and support.
I have noticed that you've been MIA @chicbuc. I'm glad that you threw out your wine and was AF yesterday. I could really relate to your post…If I didn't know better, I would have thought that I wrote it myself: I have to for my health, for my mental health, for my weight, and for living life in general. I'm soooo tired of worrying about if I have enough wine to finish my evening or stocking up so I don't have to worry. I too worry about my health and have not been really living life…just going through the motions. I do the same thing. I start worrying in the afternoon if I'll have enough to get me through the evening. When I do get more, I usually end up not needing it. And, that's where the having alcohol in the house in the AM comes in. I'm also going to coast (or wade 🙂) into July with 3 days AF under my belt and I also plan to have a dry July!
@itladyee Yes…there is "always something". There's always something that we allow to interrupt our plans, our progress etc. I think it comes with the territory when it comes to drinking. Sometimes, I try to find an excuse "that something" to give me an excuse to drink. Then the next day, I'll think, "Well, I already drank this week. So I may as well drink today and start over next week". Somehow, we need to change our thinking.
Have a great day everyone!

How true @itladyee - “there will always be something” I can use as an excuse. Weddings, funerals, work stress, family reunions, family problems, health issues, cruises and vacations, etc. Insert anything here!
The good news is yesterday is gone and TODAY is a gift for us to give back to ourselves and choose better.
Wishing you all a sunny day on the path!5 -
You guys are amazing. Honestly, I was so elated to hear the good news and determination from @LittleSurferGirl7 and @chicbuc this week. We should all feel proud, a step in the right direction, an extra AF day, a commitment to check in with ourselves and getting better at lifting ourselves.
June will conclude 10 months AF for me. I don't regret it. Almost 13 lbs. off. Mammo results were good. Liver enzymes dropped about 20 points from over-the-upper-limit to well within normal parameters. Fasting blood sugar improved, dropped from borderline too high down to 90, within normal range. My blood pressure is normal. My daily afternoon crash nap doesn't happen anymore. This is what happens when the toxic "fat juice" is removed from the diet.

Thanks @globalhiker! It's nice to hear that all of your numbers have returned to normal. You're doing phenomenal! Our liquor store closed at 5 pm today…so today is Day 2 🙂

So happy for your day 2, @LittleSurferGirl7! We can keep the same numbers! We’ve got this!
Welcome aboard @tiff8083!

HAPPY MONDAY ALL!
Welcome @tiff8083
Hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was the perfect mix of relaxing and eventful — started with a lovely (and planned!) wine tasting, and ended with a fun UFC fight viewing party on the military base, hosted by my husband’s company. Always cool to see events like that come together.
Now back to the grind — wrapping up this month’s stats today (and yes, I’ll update if I don’t stay AF). That said, I did hit my goal of drinking less this month compared to last — even if it’s just by one day, progress is progress and I’ll take the win!
Here’s to finishing strong and rolling into July with good energy.
AF = 18

And so ends June - not too shabby

@chicbuc I blew my streak today. I was working on a technical project that I wasn't familiar with and I got flustered. Anyways, I'll be back on track tomorrow. Just the 2 AF days really did help. I'm still planning on a dry July.
June (Final):
AF - 2
A - 28See everyone in July!

My stats for June:
AF 18
LA 7 (only one drink)
A 5Sorry I've been MIA for a few days, DH and I went out of town for an extra long weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary which was Friday. So that meant eating in nice restaurants, wine-tasting, and pub lunches with beer. I don't think I have any celebrations planned for July.🤞
@LittleSurferGirl7 WooHoo! What a wonderful gift to see that you've had two AF days while I was away. I almost teared up when I read your posts. Little steps forward… Some of us are on long journeys. You'll get there. Hugs.
@chicbuc Hi, I'm new to the group, so it's good to meet others here, and @tiff8083, congratulations for starting today, and not even waiting for the new month. This group is very encouraging.
Let's make July as dry as January and as sober as October.👏
7 -
@LittleSurferGirl7 it’s ok! Just get back up and dust off and do this for you!
@nbruns83 nice to “meet” you!
My last 3 days were AF and I think I had 2 or 3 other AF days, so not good. On to dry July!!
2 -
Thanks @chicbuc You're doing good!
After just 2 AF days, I drank a little less than a pint yesterday and I have a bit of a hangover. I didn't think that would happen so soon. Usually, I don't get hangovers.
I'll see you in July!

I’ve been AF on all work nights and some weekends, and I’m maintaining after losing 22lbs Jan-May. Generally keeping a lid on alcohol in general.
I went to a wonderful group get away this past weekend, and drank a bit each night, 3, 2, 2 drinks, I think (mostly beer, but one mixed drink). 2 is definitely better for me than 3. The only thing I noticed was reduced sleep quality. Of course, I took naps, so it wasn’t that much of an issue, but it’s interesting that my fitness watch can tell that I’d had some alcohol.
Also, I came home with a 2lb weight spike that was gone a day later. There you go: alcohol affects both my sleep and my weight. And, it takes care to keep it to 2 drinks or less.

June:
AF=12
A=18Didn't make my 50% for the month, but will see you all in July for better stats! 😎
