Skydiving. Once thought it would be a no-brainer adrenaline surge, then I went on an amusement park ride which simulates skydiving, and suddenly I'm less sure, as I was freaking out throughout the ride. (As my daughter will attest, and still gives me grief about years later.)

What is one habit you used to have trouble completing each day, but now you find it comes almost second nature?

The habit of eating at home! I don't even think about going through a drive thru anymore, after banning them for 6 months.

My kids report they were not taught cursive in school. What is one lesson from your childhood school that you are afraid will be discontinued with future generations, but should still be taught?

I agree with cursive being taught..also, home economics and sewing seem to be going to the wayside.

Technically yes, my face appears on TV every Sunday when my church broadcasts our service for members who are unable to come in person. No speaking parts, though.

Have you ever written a letter to a member of your government (local, national), and what was the general gist of what you wrote?

DDoes Federal trade commission count? Shut down a collection agency who called me for about 15 years (wrong number) who refused to give me their phone number or address. One day I finally got fed up, looked up a number, called back and asked for the person who just called. She called back 5 times that day. Big no-no. I think they were back in business down the road in a month or so, but they've never called me back.

My favorite way to enjoy coffee is sitting in my favorite room in my house with a cozy blanket, my puppy on my lap and silence. I prefer not to talk in the morning.

What is the greatest obstacle you have overcome…what was your motivation to keep going and how did your success impact your life???

My biggest obstacle of the year were some changes within a company I've been with for close to 5 years. I loved working there at first, but finally realized that their goals for me and my own goals for myself did not align!:D My motivation to keep going is the quest for happiness and contentment and my success w/ finally quitting has lead to better health and confidence and a job that i enjoy more.

What is your dream vacation spot?

I used to live the dream every summer when I took my son to his week-long summer camp with his Scout troop. Sleeping in a tent out in nature, no electronics, fresh air while spending the day doing archery, or canoeing, or hiking. And the food is prepared hot by staff in the central hall each day…AND they do the dishes!

Do you have any sports-watching traditions? (Eat the same food, wear the same socks, etc.)

Simple - a home of my own! This renting lark takes its toll ! I used to own my own home but (ex)partners debts lost it for us. Had awful landlords and great ones. But it's not the same as having my own home. I'd like the security and freedom of having a place that I own and no one can take it from me.

Who taught you something amazing that you've never forgotten, and what was it?

My college girlfriend Lola taught me that I am actually a desirable guy. Up until that point my super power was repelling girls, getting turned down for dates and dances, to where I honestly wondered if I was destined to forever live alone. But she liked me for me, and we dated for over a year. We've both moved on to marry other people and raise families, but we remain friends to this day.

What is something you did where you surprised yourself by performing better than you expected?

Waking up early so I can wake my son/daughter on the first day of school, remaining annoyingly cheerful during waking, dressing, breakfast, seeing off to bus stop…

Everybody, even very shy and reserved people, has that one subject which encourages them to open up and talk more than normal. What subject is your "on" button to really get you talking?
