Anyone gluten-free?

I've been gluten-free for over 15 years now. I was GF before it was popular. People seem to have a misunderstanding about gluten-free being healthier, but it is just a lifestyle that some of us make for health reasons.

I have ADD and find that I become more unfocused and anxious when I eat gluten.

I am gluten free dairy free. I should have been gluten free 15 yrs ago when i starting experiencing severe belly pain and anxiety among other symptoms but better late than never. It’s been about 5 yrs now. I struggle with adherence admittedly and still sometimes suffer the consequences. It’s been a long journey. I’m a work in progress. I just keep trying.. my goal is long term health.

@Herblovinmom - Good to meet you. I am glad that you are making a little progress and feeling better. You have to make the decision and go all out GF and DF. You will see a big difference. It is tough when you go out to eat, but grilled chicken on salad or a steak is always good…and there are so many GF products now! Admittedly, I do a lot of baking and freeze my goodies. I prefer home-made to store bought, but that takes time that not everyone has.

Having Celiacs makes it tough to eat out at restaurants. 🤟🏼

It can for sure. But I find I can eat at a lot of Thai, some Chinese places, and some Mexican places. There's always an element of risk for sure, and I only eat out every great once in a while. Too expensive anyway.

I was gluten free for about 6 months. Have an ear condition that has some links to autoimmune so did not want to take any chances. Went to rheumatologist and autoimmune was ruled out so stopped the diet.

also gluten free here! Avid restaurant goer-

have had success at restaurants/ when in doubt I do fish, poultry, steak… and double check any sauces. Found a great cauliflower pizza place.

Damn shame about soy sauce though. My local sushi place has gluten free coconut aminos though!
