Background: gained 73 while prego, lost 46 so far. 5'4". 24 yrs old.

I have GOT to get my arms smaller. I have pre-pregnancy tops that my chest and tummy can fit again, but the arms are too tight! Tips for slimming them down?

Oh, and luckily I don't have a problem with the underarm-waving-when-I-wave thing. Arms are pretty tight-- just want them to be smaller.

You can't really spot reduce....but cardio will help trim fat from everywhere and making sure you're doing some weights that focus on your arms and upper body should help. It will come off! Just keep at 'em :)

That's what I thought. I do zumba at least 3x a week, we do an arm song, it's about 4 min long. We keep our arms up the whole time doing different exercises, and I use 2 lb weights while I do it. I tried to up it to 3 lbs but I can't keep my arms up the whole time if I do. Do you think that, over time, is enough?

Geesh...wish I DIDN'T have batwings, but oh well!!! LOL....I have fallen in love with the benefits of planks, push ups and chair dips. The toning is wonderful. And I suspect that carrying around and picking up that little delight of yours will also do wonders LOL. Check out youtube too. There are some good execise videos on there. All the best new Mom.

even if you can't do the 3s the whole time keep with them until you can! It's kind of like slowly increasing in strength training. Start with the 3s and when you can't do it any longer switch back to 2s. I've started running which has taken some off my arms. You might need to change up or add a different cardio in there too. But yea overtime you should start seeing results! Some areas are just harder for others. Me-little arms-thicker legs lol

I've been trying to get into running, but I can't seem to motivate myself.

One practical caution for you is that you will probably gain shoulder and and arm muscles for a while, unless you were already fit/muscular before having your baby. There's something about carrying around and lifting on a regular basis an increasing amount of weight that does that.

Seriously, though, I remember going through my closest years ago and trying on jackets and blouses that I had worn when my daughters were younger (up through the ages when they still liked to be carried as toddlers). I could not believe how big the shoulders were on me and if anything, I had gained total body weight since then. And if anyone's thinking oh yeah, but that was way back in the dark ages when shoulder pads were "in," yes, that's true, but this was a whole different issue from massive shoulder pads.

I here ya there! I still struggle getting my butt out there. But slowly but surely if I don't get it in at least 3xs a week I just feel cranky! It's great "me" time with no real distractions for me to just think whether i'm running or walking.
