    I love your menu @nbruns83 - and that you made an intentional choice for a glass of red wine.

    Tonight I’m making filet mignon and mushrooms, peppers and zucchini. I bought a good red wine to try with the menu so am planning on 1-2 glasses. Moderation is my priority this week!

    @NonnieDoiron thank you for the pastry recipes, and some of the variations you listed sound great too.

    @itladyee have a wonderful vacation.

    @NonnieDoiron, I'm adding my thanks for the pastry recipes. I'm going to try them - it'll be my first time with frozen puff pastry.

    @Michieb125, Your dinner plans sound delicious, and I hope you truly savor that good red wine.

    July Stats

    AF 21
    LA 4
    A 3

    The rest of yesterday's wine is still in the bottle and corked. Maybe I'll have to cook with it before it decays. Or maybe DH will finish it, but lately he's preferred a cold beer. Anyway, it's a not a temptation tonight.

    July:

    AF=12
    A=16

    July Goals:

    12 AF days

    AF=10
    A=10
    LA - 8 (at 2 glass limit)

    Really enjoyed the red wine last night with our delicious meal. Stopped at 2 and put a wine saver cork on it. This is what moderation feels like for me — carefully selecting a nice bottle to pair with my dinner and then stopping. Tonight is AF with my Key Lime Mocktail and a lighter meal.
    Logged another 3-mile walk in nature this am but things are heating up here now @SparkSpringtime69 and others with he**ish heat waves!

    @nbruns83

    But this time I just made separate skewers so we could start the pork earlier; they turned out great. Best of all, I kept all the heat out of the kitchen.

    Did you hear my big DUH! Now why didn't I think of that!!! Geez……. Thanks Nancy!

    There is a bookmark ribbon on the discussion , but not on the group.

    Ok. I don't think bookmarking a group is a function of MFP, but I could be wrong. And maybe that was your point….

    My Groups are under Quick Links and they pop right up so it’s doable for me.

    As long as these conversations continue to support folks who are actively seeking Less Alcohol, I’d like to be here for the long run.

    Happy vacationing to @BurnMode05 and @itladyee - I hope you enjoy your trips.

    @LittleSurferGirl7 As you have verbalized, it does seem like this Less Alcohol community has not be meeting your expectations for a while. But it sounds like you are onto something by saying you want to quit alcohol!

    Instead of quitting all alone, have you explored joining or starting a new Alcohol Free discussion around abstinence or sobriety? It could be very empowering and motivating. Good luck to you.

    Went to a concert Friday night and had only one drink! If the trifecta of Christopher Cross, Men at Work and Toto come to town, it was a really enjoy concert and I encourage you to go!

    Saturday I am proud that I did not have a drink while sailing! 2 wines and a port during and after dinner, honestly lot bad. Sunday I had two of each, and tonight and last night only one.

    This heat! Holy cow! Went for a bike ride with my son and going my normal pace was so much more difficult than it normally is. I was lightheaded afterwords and couldn’t finish driving home! No amount of water or electrolytes during the day made me feel significantly better after being in the oven. So, I am continuing to drink fluids and hope tomorrow I’m back to normal.

    @itlaydee I just put my response on the group thread!

    @NonnieDoiron glad to hear your MIL was released from the hospital. 7 liters, holy cow!!!! How long does dialysis usually take? Too bad it can’t come to her house if she’s having digestive issues.

    Well, they don’t have in-home dialysis unless she goes back to peritoneal dialysis (PD) which would require install of an abdominal catheter, but there is a high rate of infection with it. She ended up in the hospital A LOT when she was doing PD. So, she switched to hemodialysis and had the catheter removed.

    She seems to constantly have gastric issues which is why I whole-heartedly believe she needs to be taken off Ozempic. But, I will say, some days it’s just worse than others. So who knows.🤷🏻‍♀️

    @itladyee i noticed the counts aren’t working right on the spreadsheet. I updated the AF days on row 5 for July because it didn’t count to the last cell, but I’m not sure about editing the A days. I have 4 A days, but it’s only counting 3. Anyway, just thought you could check on those formulas when you had a chance. Thanks.

    Went out to dinner tonight, and thought about getting a glass of wine. Decided not to do it. Normally if I drink while out to eat, I only have 1. So, it wouldn’t have been a bad thing. I also thought about swinging by the store to get a bottle, but I ended up skipping it.

    Even after taking the day off yesterday, today was still a fairly light day at work. So, that was nice. My husband’s brother is here visiting until tomorrow sometime. There was a lot of discussion about my MIL. I learned she was pretty abusive towards them as they were growing up, and I come from a home where my parents made a paddle for punishments and know the difference between a spanking and getting beat. My parents spanked, my MIL… beat and she was also very mentally/emotionally abusive. My BIL was talking about a couple of episodes in particular and my husband couldn’t remember what he was talking about. It sounded like he blocked them out to cope. Knowing my husband endured this as a child was really heavy to learn. I knew my MIL was a bit of a manipulator and has told horrible lies about me and my husband to her brothers and sister, but I didn’t think it went this deep. I also learned she was quite the slut! 😳 Bringing weird men into her home for overnights when they were boys/teens, and she plays little Ms. Innocent all the time. The anecdotes and revelations today were just wild and confirmed some feelings I’ve had about her. I think there might be some interesting changes coming about in this house, just not sure yet.

    @NonnieDoiron ~ The sheet doesn't count A days…only AF days. So 31 less AF days will give you A days.

    You have 26 AF days…if I add a check to 7/31 it increases to 27 so good. (I erased).

    Your current streak is 3 days… if I add 7/31, it increases to 4, so again good. (I erased)

    And your longest streak is 15 days…which adds up.

    Let me know if I'm missing something…

    @itladyee oops! I don’t know why in thought that column was A days. Lol. But, please do look at everyone’s formula for checking AF days. Most rows stop at column AG, but I changed mine to AJ.

    Anyone else have a jerk of a husband who wakes up at 3am and forgets that everyone else is sleeping and wakes them up by doing stupid crap like reassembling the Ring doorbell at 4:30 which rings inside your bedroom or decides it’s time to reset the beeping microwave and oven clocks due to a power outage the night before last which are right down the hall from your room? He will be a very lucky man if I don’t kill him before noon this morning!!!😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

    @itladyee It looks like my B column also has AG in the formula (I don't have the spreadsheet confidence that @NonnieDoiron has so I thought I'd ask you to adjust as needed 😁). Thank you very much.

    @itladyee Like @NonnieDoiron and @SparkSpringtime69 said it looks like that's happening to me as well on the spreadsheet (i'm listed under HYS). i tried too add in a check for today, as i had an A day yesterday, and my AF #'s did not increase (though the percentage did). you are doing such amazing work, creating the spreadsheet and shouldering the admin duties and i truly appreciate it. the spreadsheet is a fun way to track and helps keep me accountable.
