on my way up to my sister's wedding, my tire blew. as i was waiting for my husband to come switch vehicles, a tow truck (with a tow on it) stopped and asked if he could change my tire for me (i was not dressed to change it myself). i was so grateful! i tried to give him some money, but he waved it off. it really made my day.

what random act of kindness can you perform today?

    I went out to dinner last week and I was waiting to get a table, for about ten mintues and a family of five came and set down with me to wait for a table. The hostess came up to me and took me back to the table, It was a table for five, so I went back to the family that was steel waiting and gave them my table. I waited for another smaller table. Then after I finished my dinner, I asked the waiter for my bill and she stated that the family paid your bill for you.

    that is so awesome! (both you giving up your table for them and them paying for your dinner.) i love that!

    I had gone to Starbucks, and the gentleman who pulled in the drive threw area about the same time that I had, was obviously in more of a hurry then I, so I let him cut in line in front of me. I got to the Window and he had paid for my Tea.

    I worked with Kindergarteners and last year for National Random Act of Kindness Day I wanted to do something special. I told the kids about it and had them brainstorm ideas of what we could do to "celebrate". They chose to make cookies and then we delivered them to people who worked in the offices on campus that we sometimes see when we go for walks. They also drew pictures to put with the cookies. It was so much fun and the kids loved doing it!

    a few of my favorites are to help someone pick up something they have dropped even if they say, "that's ok" when you reach for it or say "let me get that," and personally bringing my shopping cart to the person collecting them in the parking lot instead of just putting it in the cart corral.

    another time we were on a layover at the airport and we were heading from one terminal to the next. i saw a woman who was traveling alone with her 4 year old son. he was all over the place and i could see that she was frustrated trying to carry all of their bags, etc. didn't help that he was poking along behind her. so i made sure my husband would look after our son on the way to the terminal and i helped her get her son and their stuff to their terminal.

    Today I spotted a guy at the gym...not many opportunities to be randomly kind today.

    Last weekend my tire blew when I was out of town with my son visiting a friend of mine from law school. Two guys helped change the tire. Not easy since I had my husband's car--he had a broken jack. The lugnuts were on so tightly it took both of them struggling for a long time to get the first one loosened. When I offered to pay, same thing: "No thank you. Have a good day." Wow!

    Awhile ago, I was walking down the street and the meter guy was approaching a car that had an expired meter. As the victim of these folks many a time when I've scurried down there after seriously missing the time by a minute or two, and they were writing a ticket, I quickly put change in the meter. The meter guy said, "Lucky you." (Thinking, I guess it was my car.)

    I belong to this group called iSmile... its randon acts of kindness site that others report about.. stories and events that have happened.... they send you small little cards that you an take and leave in random places with small gifts or tokens...

    the thrill of never knowing if someone picked up the token or if it was appreciated when received is what inspires me.
