@itladyee I can’t imagine running code in production instead of the sandbox. That seems far worse than running tests in production. Lucky me, I get to audit production to make sure it’s doing what it’s supposed to do and test the updates to be released to production in the sandbox to confirm they are ready for release. I am not a fan of doing this. I feel like the IT people hate me because I’m constantly telling them what to fix. The only time I get to say anything nice to them is when they finally release a long awaited update or fix something that isn’t working right.
@globalhiker I want to join you for Sober September, but it is also my bestie’s birthday. She’s coming for her birthday weekend, and she may want to drink. If she does, I’ll drink with her. But, I plan to try to moderate it, and also to go for a VERY LONG walk before we do as to avoid the added calories killing my efforts.
@WestCoastGirl_7 Let me clarify my concerns about my daughter a little. I have nothing against being comfortable. I will wear jeans and t-shirts all day everyday given the chance. However, there is a level of femininity to those clothes… women’s jeans tend to hug curves and women’s t-shirts are sometimes cut differently. Or, the graphics on the shirts lean more feminine. Even if there was a hint of femininity to the boyish style she wears, I probably wouldn’t say anything. Even in high school, I lived in jeans, t-shirts, and men’s oversized flannel in the winter; but I always had my 80s/early 90s big hair rockin’. But, it’s a little more than that, her mannerisms are more 12 year old boyish than even 12 year old girlish (reminder she’s 15). Her best friend is definitely more girlie, and I’m just hoping she rubs off on her a little bit this year… just a smidge would be nice. She doesn’t have to turn into a cheerleader, but just stop being mistaken for a boy would be nice.
@Womona If I can get my bathroom done today and MIL’s done tomorrow when she’s at dialysis, then that leaves the kids’ bathroom for Saturday. Hubby wants to grind some deer and pork meat on Saturday too which takes all day and makes a mess of my kitchen.

@NonnieDoiron I understand. Dressing like a boy and acting like a boy are two different things. But people do mature at different rates. I'm sure she'll grow out of it.
When I was growing up, all us girls, including my older girl cousins wore Levi jeans and cords. Levi didn't even make women's jeans at the time. My uncle, my mom's brother, had five kids, including three girls. I totally idolized my oldest girl cousin, Judy. I did everything she did. Although, she probably wasn't the best role model. That's probably why I started partying at an early age. Their mother was an alcoholic and just flew the coup one day (she reappeared many years later). I was only about three years old when she left. We lived just a few miles away, so my mom became their mom. Back in the day, the girls had to wear dresses to school (that ended around 3rd grade). So, maybe, that's why I hated wearing dresses.
In the 80's, my sister-in-law gave my a pair of women's Levi 501's for Christmas. My bestie lived just a couple of blocks away. I went over to her house and her next door neighbor Jim was in the garage. I was wearing those women's 501's (I was working on being more feminine). He was a heavy beer drinker. I walked up to say Hi. And, the first thing he said to me was that I looked pregnant. I never wore those jeans again. I just didn't have the body type to wear women's clothes. I posted this picture before, but I deleted all of my posts when I changed my username. I was 21 years old in this picture. But, you can see that I just don't have that curvy thing going on (and still don't).
And, yes, that's a man's T-shirt and cut-off and hemmed men's Levi cords. But, I always felt feminine. But, those where different times. A guy that I really liked gave me that shirt (I was totally crazy about him). He worked as a mechanic at a motorcycle shop. A lot of shops would give us girls shirts because I think it was good advertising 🤔.
So, did you actually get the Wolf haircut? I'm going to consider it. I think I will have to go back to the salon that my old hairstylist worked at…but it's just kind of far away.

Oh boy, lots of catching up to do -
@WestCoastGirl_7 I'm so happy to hear you have a few AF days in for August, nice job. The new kitties sound adorable, can't wait to see some pics.
@Walela617 Glad to hear your pancreatic pain has gone away. Congrats on the 5 day mark.
@Alatariel75 Nice job with the AF days. And, yes, being able to shop after 2 is a big victory.
@Michieb125 I hope your husband's knee surgery goes well.
@NonnieDoiron Happy for you that you had a good day with with your daughter. Nice job on the weight loss so far.
@Womona Hope you have a great time on your boat this weekend. Good work getting those AF days in.
@itladyee I've been having a 2 days A, 1 day AF pattern and it's really starting to bug me. I wanted way more AF days this month. Thanks for setting up the September thread and for keeping the spreadsheet going. I like seeing how the planned vs actual look together.
@globalhiker I'm so looking forward to hearing you hit your 1 year mark on Sunday. You're a huge inspiration. I'm in for an AF September.
Sorry if I missed some of you. I have been reading all of the posts, just don't seem to be able to find the time to get in here and chat as much as I'd like.

@SparkSpringtime69 I'm still doing well with my AF days. But I don't have as many as you. I have a couple of old friends coming up this weekend. So I probably will have a few. But, they will be leaving on Sunday. So I don't plan on drinking on Labor Day.
I'm glad you're in for Sober September. We can do it…just think…it's only one month. And, we shouldn't think about beyond that.
I'll post some pics of the kitties some day. But, at this age, they won't sit still. It's like having a couple of squirls in the house! I still miss my little Tinker. I called Chewy yesterday to return some of Tinker's food. We're feeding the new kitties kitten food. The girl I spoke with was so nice. And, of course, I ended up in tears. Tinker was with us for over 17 years and you just can't forget them and I never will! ❤️

Yes, I did get the wolf cut. I washed it this morning, ran my fingers through it, and just let it air dry today instead of blowing it out and round brushing it. It’s not too bad.

August is going to end on a social note, which means alcohol, mostly wine. We are having company for the next 3 days, and my husband just ordered a smoker to "smoke" some old fashions. I will have a taste, but I doubt if I will be a fan of them.
@NonnieDoiron ~gorgeous haircut and gorgeous YOU! Thanks for sharing the picture. Sorry, you still found cleaning to do… I just finished the last go-round in anticipation of our visitors. It's my husband's cousin (they are more like brothers) and they do things to "outdo" and "impress" each other. Soooo…my husband gets a little bent of of shape if one hair is not in place. It's going to be a long few days. From an IT perspective, or maybe only my perspective, I LOVED having a great tester. So much better to fix it in test than after it's in live.
@WestCoastGirl_7 ~ Glad you're still racking up those days… Good for you. Can't wait to see your kitties. It will take some time to adjust to Tinker being gone, but you will never forget. Back in the day, I think I had that same blender….🤩
@Walela617 ~ congrats on 5 days and going strong!!
@SparkSpringtime69 ~ I've got to figure out the "plan" for September. Since vacation, I've mentally been all over the place, even a bit depressed, so I'm trying to find some quiet time to sit down and decide how to tackle September, both LA and LC (Less Calories). Glad you like the spreadsheet.
@Womona ~ cuckoo for Cocoa-Puffs. Hadn't heard that in a while!!! 😄😅
I can't believe it's almost September!!

Thanks, @itladyee. The cleaning is ok. At least I’ll burn some calories.
This morning my MIL informed my husband she needed a ride to the hospital for a CT scan. He asked why, and that’s when we learned she’s having heart surgery. I still don’t know when or why.🤷🏻♀️
Then, while they were at the hospital, she hit someone her electric wheelchair because she doesn’t practice with it. 🙄🤦🏻♀️ Just ran right into them. My husband was so annoyed when he got home with her.

@NonnieDoiron Thanks for the pic. It looks real nice. Now I just have to find a hairstylist 🤔 There were a couple of other stylists in the salon where my old hairstylist worked. I think they were pretty good. But, you know how it is…with a new stylist, it's best to just ask for a trim. You never know what to expect. Sorry to hear about your MIL.
@itladyee I've never heard of a smoked old fashioned. And, yes, I think everybody had that blender back in the day!
Well, have to go look after the kids!
Have a great day everyone!

@NonnieDoiron The haircut looks great on you. I have very thin hair and can't do layered hairstyles. I wish someone would invent a something that would get hair to grow again with just a few applications (not the rogaine type stuff that you have to use for the rest of your life 😟). Sorry to hear about your MIL, I hope the surgery goes well.

So, I was scrolling through some articles on a website and came across an excerpt from a book about aging, written by a surgeon. I don't read self-help books but I read this excerpt and it was pretty interesting. She writes about how to stick with changes you want to make and wrote this:
Why do we know what to do and yet still don’t do it again and again? … even with the best of thoughts, when the new wears off or there is a distraction, we assign more importance to that distraction than to ourselves. When it gets hard, as it always does, our tendency is also to return to our last safe place—that set of behaviors that make us feel comfortable and unthreatened by the new and the hard. Often this means pivoting back to our old habits no matter how destructive they were and are.
This book is not about drinking, but that paragraph can certainly be applied to that habit as well as other unhealthy ones.
Anyway, just some food for thought. If you want to read the whole book excerpt it's here:

I'm glad to read that most of you are doing well with your goals. I love the photos - you're all such lovely, strong women. Thanks for all you share.
I'm considering that commitment to a dry AF September, but I'm not sure I want to yet. Yesterday, I had a realization that I'm not preparing as many healthful, home-cooked meals because I miss that glass of wine on the counter as I chop, measure, and cook. Old habits…

@NonnieDoiron your haircut (and color) looks spectacular! Good choice.
I haven't had anything to drink yet but do want drink on the 30th then kick off AF mode until at least the next major holiday. I have not had ANY chocolate candy this week. It's a big deal since I replaced drinks with chocolate candy (yes and fruit also) but the chocolate addiction is very real.
This week I wanted to make a new change so no chocolate candy and instead I mixed 1 scoop truvani chocolate protein with 1 tablespoon scoop chocolate collagen powder and added just enough water to make it pasty/pudding like consistency. Added 1 teaspoon blackberry preserves (yes it has a bit of sugar) and wow was that 30gram treat filling and delicious. It could use a bit of whipped cream. About 155 calories. I have that within an hour or so of a 15 min exercise break (weights and pushups mostly). I had zero hunger all afternoon. Normally I am starving all afternoon even after a 500-700 calorie lunch.
And guess what happened after 5 days (no change in exercise), BMI is down, 26.9 this morning, 2 decimal points less compared to last Sunday. Goal is to keep the trend going downward this weekend and not reverse my progress as I often do!

@Walela617 congrats on week 1 AF done!!
@WestCoastGirl_7 big congrats to you as well!! BTW I grew up in Levis too. Back then the only choices we had was Lee, Wrangler, and Levis I think. And maybe a few years after I was sporting Sassoon fuschia spandex pants particularly when I went to the disco rollerskating rink Friday and Sat nights.

@globalhiker thank you for the compliment. That hair color is my real color, gray! lol. I made a promise to myself that I would never color my hair again after divorce #1, and I’m sticking to it. Besides, I earned every last one of those damn grays!
@itladyee, I just saw @WestCoastGirl_7’s comment about the smoked old fashioned! OMG, I LOVE a smoked old fashioned! There’s a place called Bourbon in downtown Columbia that makes them. I just love the aroma. I wouldn’t mind just sitting at the bar drinking water and getting the smokey smell.
3 -
@globalhiker Yep, in SoCal, if you didn't wear Levi's you were not cool. My mom wouldn't buy me Levi's at first because they cost $6 or $7 at the time. But, eventually, she realized all the other kids were wearing Levi's, so she started buying me Levi's too. When my cousin had her first son, she bought him a pair of 501's…the tag on the back said "00" as the size…so cute!
I didn't move to Southern Oregon until I was 33. But, I assume they mainly wore Wranglers here. Lots of cowboys and cowgirls around here. My best friend in Oregon grew up in the Rogue Valley (just south of here), which is where I lived for a long time also. Growing up in SoCal, I probably wouldn't have survived childhood here. The girls are just as rough and tumble as the boys. Good thing I'm older now!
My high school friends will be arriving any minute now. I did buy some alcoholic beverages. But, I plan on being back on track on Monday.
Have a nice rest of your day everyone!

AF-27FINALLY got 8+ hours of sleep last night. I did wake up to pee at 2:30ish, but I was able to fall back to sleep. I don’t think I’ve had more than 7 hours of sleep in months, and it’s more like 5-6 hours most nights. I think I’m ready for the day! That was a great start to a long weekend!
@globalhiker I have to 2nd @itladyee’s thoughts. Not that you asked. You’ve accomplished a great year of NA, I prrsonallh would want to memorialize it with an anniversary. But, that’s just me. Whatever you do just have fun and be safe!
@WestCoastGirl_7 I grew up with 2 brothers and wore all the Osh Gosh B’gosh hand-me-down jeans and overalls. I definitely love my Levi’s and baggy t-shirts. Fortunately and unfortunately (both a blessing and curse), I do have curves so I struggled with jeans all my life until the manufacturers decided that they needed to make “curvy” jeans. Always had to buy much larger jeans to fit over my hips, but then they always had a huge gap in the back at the waist. A have ruined so many nice leather belts trying to cinch shut the gap. Anyway, you look cute in the pic, but I do see feminine qualities in you in that pic… not a 12 year old boy.😉 I hope you are having fun with your friends, and you are able to moderate during their visit and get back to NA after they leave. You’re doing great!

@nbruns83 ~ I'm kinda in the same boat figuring out Sept. I also realized I wasn't preparing the healthful home-cooked meals for other reasons…. my dinners were good but I wasn't planning the rest of the day….fixing that this week!
@NonnieDoiron ~ "they" (my DH and his cousin) smoked the old fashions. I tasted but didn't like. I smoked, instead, a recipe that came with the kit, a chocolate smore. It was good.
Our company is leaving today, so I should rack up two more AF days, and then continue into September.

@NonnieDoiron You're doing awesome! I don't know how to say this….but you seemed to be one of the F-up's (like me) when I first joined this group. But, you are doing great now. Keep it up! You must be feeling better.
I can tell you're younger than me because the first time I heard of Osh Gosh B’gosh was when my friend had her first baby.
I grew up in a coastal area of So California. So, T-shirts, shorts, and jeans is what we wore. We wore hoodies (usually white). Which are now associated with gangs. But the surfers started the fad.
Like you said, fortunately or unfortunately, I never had that hourglass shape. Anyways, I mentioned the story of my SIL giving me a pair of women's Levi 501's. I felt so proud to be wearing women's jeans. But, when my friend's neighbor said I looked like I was pregnant, I never wore them again. He was right. They pooched out in the front. Oh well…you just have to buy what fits you.
One more thing, I'm retired now. But I used to have what I called my interview uniform. It was black slacks with a white women's long sleeve button-up shirt. Got me the job every time 😁
Well, I've got to get going. Were going to hang out at the river later and grill tonight.
Have a great day everyone!

Been super busy this week helping husband with pre and post operation activities. There’s been a lot more involved that I really had not anticipated (denial)? I’m pretty tired and resting when I can.
I have been reading most posts and will jump back when I have a bit more time. I think this is a transitional weekend from hospital to home and we are working together to figure out a rhythm- I feel it’s starting to work, let’s just say it’s better than on Thursday lol. Although, I am definitely sleep deprived since he needs help getting up and down which includes through the night.
He took prescribed pain meds only 3 times since coming home and said no more this morning. I love his strong mental constitution.
He has also been a non drinker for over 10 years now.I do want to thank you @SparkSpringtime69 for sharing the fantastic publication on an Unbreakable Life! I read just enough to know I’d like to buy the book and incorporate some better habits this fall. I love books on aging gracefully with lifestyle choices.
September is a great month to start anew! A new season is ahead. There’s always space for me to make improvements that lead toward longevity and happiness!
Have a good LA Labor Day!7 -

AF-28A little irritated with the husband today. He had beers while mowing the lawn, forgot he was supposed to grind meat this afternoon, and we just finished but he also downed a huge glass of sangria while doing it. Then, he started getting pissy with me. He even ate dinner while doing it, and I am just now eating at 9:00 at night.
I wonder if this is pay back?🤔
