It's been fun reading all the travel advice you ladies have given Rosemarie regarding her upcoming trip abroad. I am embarrassed to say that my only trip out of the US was a Disney cruise to the Bahamas. In addition to that, I have never hailed a taxi or phoned for a uber and I have only traveled by airplane for a trip when my husband's company sent us to Michigan for an event. In fact, I have barely been out of Georgia except for a few beach trips in nearby states. Would love to have seen all the sights on the East Coast and the West Coast but doubt that will happen. Anyway, I love living vicariously through all of you and enjoy my quiet life.

Carol: I might not be going at all on this trip if I lived closer to Atlanta! It was a very quick decision!
Middle GA has grown over the the past 30 years! When I first moved here my husband was in the habit of driving to a favorite bookstore in Atlanta. At least now we have a couple of book stores!
And even 20 years ago, the nightlife was slim. We hired a babysitter and went to a new local bar on a Friday or Saturday evening that had music. Well we tried to goโฆthe bar was closedโ on a week end night โfor a private party. I was pretty emotional about this. I felt very stifled. My husband had to calm me down.
I would love to go to the Bahamas! But think I might settle for Lake Lure in NC!
Best,
Rosemarie from GA

Afternoon ladies, other dis charged me at 11:45 last night and I took a. Uber home.
They want me to follow up with cardiologist and get an echocardiogram, think the mitral valve might need replacement, which comes down to another open heart surgery ..when ir rains it pours.we shall see the saga
oh Allie and heart surgery
12 -
Grandmallie: At least no pneumonia and your in your own place this evening. No sense worrying about surgery until the echocardiogram is complete. Do you have the energy to prepare meals? I hope you are comfortable this evening.
Best,

Did work on the stairstepper today.
Lanette โ yes, Jess is a vet. But sheโs a research vet, not a family vet. Honestly, in a way Iโm glad sheโs not. I just donโt think she has the personality. Sheโs too much of an animal lover. Say a dog had an ear infection and she prescribed ear drops. If the owner didnโt use them and came back in a week because the infection got worse, sheโd probably ream them out about taking care of your pet. And you canโt do that. Also, family vets see the same thing over and over โ infections, coughs, etc. Sheโd get bored. She needs a challenge and research is a challenge (and pays more). She had a strong suspicion of what it was (went over my head as to what it was) and the vet confirmed it. Sheโd only seen it at the spay and neuter clinic she volunteers at so she wasnโt sure of the best medication. The clinic (of course) only has the least expensive, which usually translates into least effective. My car has a sun/moonroof and I donโt use it a lot. But the car came with one so I have it.
You wonโt catch me in a crop top!
M โ two crowns!
Beth โ your sun roof story sounds like something I totally would do.
Carol โ donโt feel bad about your lack of traveling. Iโve never ever been on a cruise to anywhere. Now that Jess gave us a cruise, I have to find out what you do on a cruise and what clothing to bring, etc. Iโm excited. The only times Iโve been out of the country were to go to Bryanโs wedding and Jessโ vet school in the Caribbean. Now Iโll need to get a new (renew the one I have)passport (yea!)
Went to ceramics tonight. Taz is almost finished, next Iโll be working on an M&M bank (how appropriate is that?)
Iโm thinking that Iโll ask Jess if sheโd rather switch some nights with me that she cooks right now. I know that itโs hard for her to get dinner ready when sheโs working. Actually, tonight C put together the casserole.

That would explain why you're so tired.
Because of Rheumatic Fever when I was 4 years old, I've got minor aortic insufficiency + minor mitral and tricuspid valve regurgitation โ heart murmur. Sometimes I wonder if all that contributes to me feeling tired.

Hi Ladies;
I wanted to exercise today. Unfortunately, I didn't get my power nap, and Rose wanted to get out. So, I took Rose to her favorite pet store and bought her expensive treats that she loves: Bully sticks. They keep her busy so I can do my crafts. Then I put gas in my car while I was at Kroger. Then picked up groceries. By the time I got home and put groceries away, I was exhausted. I guess fighting this crud takes a lot of energy, too. I do have my voice back. Then I was going to watch TV, but my bossy dog wanted to go upstairs to bed. I mean, she literally barked at me. I didn't argue, because I am tired too. She is now snoring behind my seat.
On the topic of writing checks, I have to write checks to pay for my mom's stay at the memory care. I pay my bills online. Like Beth, I too am a POA for her. My gym requires a check for the month I decide to participate. Now that I'm traveling, I need to get my passport. I missed out on a free trip to Cancun. I paid to get one, but they didn't like my birth certificate. Now I have the long one. I need to finish up with my photo so I can travel to another continent. I do love traveling in the US.
I am so behind DH. With the job he had, he went to all the places we wanted to visit together, such as Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Colorado. Currently, my goal is to get my child through school. Then it is up to him. As for Julia, she needs to help herself. She asked me to get her a job where I am. I showed her how to view the job listing and then apply. She sounded like she couldn't do that. No one held my hand when I got a job at 18, but my uncle helped me with my summer job at 13. My dad got me a summer job with US News World Report for the summer at 16. I helped with research. We helped her get her job at 18, and she blew it because her abusive boyfriend waited for her entire shift in her car, and that was against the rules.Carol, you are still alive. Why don't you plan a trip to somewhere fun? I know it is easier said than done. At least consider it; go over what is stopping you.
Michelle, you're always busy. Do you ever rest? I wanted to know if you and Denise got to talk, and if she was glad you came? Your drive sounds scary. So what vitamins are you on? I need your energy.
Allie, I hope everything is okay. I wish Tracey could understand that you are doing the best you can for her. Your body needs rest. I wish she could help you.
Rosemary, I hope you have a great time on your trip and meet some fun and interesting people.
Heather, I hope you have a safe and happy trip as well.
Terri, good luck in getting ready for your groups to start.
Margarette, thanks for sharing a cute angel with us. I love animals.
Tracey, I know it is great to have a dependable car. My car is in front of my red Jeep. The alternator went out on my way to work. I was letting my job know that I would be late, and I was getting a report over the phone about my patients, when a strange man suddenly got into the car with me. I screamed and screamed, so he jumped out quickly and ran. The nurse on the phone said she thought to herself, How much therapy am I going to need from hearing Mo get killed over the phone. When I got to the unit, I cried and cried. Then straightened up and went to work. So, I must say that I love my Jeep too. I had no problems giving up the Murano.
Well, that is my post for today. Lisa, Beth had me in stitches, too. That was a cold awakening.
XO,
Mo in Mississippi

Rebecca - we do get a fair amount of snow but legally to drive it has to be cleaned off anyway so itโs not there for long maybe overnight. This is my first Jeep, although the Dodge Nitro, was made like the Jeep Liberty.
I have never been stuck on certain brands, but I loved anything Pontiac made and had a few Pontiac models.I would ask to go up too, what a view it would be!Heather - I am so happy with this purchase. The public transit here is terrible, I have taken a cab to work from here, but that leaves me stuck at work all day.
Were you always uncomfortable being driven?Barbie - I remember you having a long commute for the last vehicle for service. I am fortunate to live in a city so have most things very handy. The big city is only 20 minutes away too if I need it.
Beth - I donโt know if I could laugh faced with the same situation Iโll make sure I know where my buttons are!
I canโt get on my knees any longer either for scrubbing floors. I struggle with the tub too. If I was to hire a cleaner it would be for those two tasks, plus the baseboards and oven. I have no problems with anything else. Those tasks always cause my hips and back to hurt.
Sorry your DH is facing surgery, hopefully itโs the minor of the two.Lisa - good point, I left the cover open on my Nitro. I may have to do that with this too. Iโll see, Iโm looking forward to it tomorrow on my drive to Kaitlynโs.
I havenโt bothered for my commute to work.I hope Corey gets some rest this weekend.Machka - I can eat harder things with my crown, but I worry about it and itโs never felt 100% comfortable to me. It always feels just a little off.
Maybe they arenโt supposed to feel that way. Iโll mention it when I get the courage to go see the dentist again.Carol - I have not travelled to anywhere but the States and most of Canada.
The only reason I travelled and was so fortunate to see so much of the States is because I used to go on the truck with Rodger. I have been up and down the Eastern seaboard a few times, because we normally left Florida, to go to Montreal or Toronto so we would travel across and up instead of up the I-95.
In 1994 I travelled the longest trip ever. We left Toronto and went to California, we had to deliver in a very rough area. The security guard at the gate told me I was wearing the wrong colour shirt and I needed to change and told me what other colours to avoid. We left there and went up to Old Sacramento where we got laid over and played tourist for 4 days. Then we came back up to Toronto, but he took a different route so I could see more spots.
I have a whole album just pictures from that trip. I had him stop for me at every โwelcome toโ sign so I could get a picture.Allie - Hugs hopefully they can get you in quickly so you donโt have the unknown hanging over your head. I always find that more difficult to deal with than the knowing.
Terri - I find it so hard to believe that itโs September in a few days!
Iโm quite played out tonight so heading to bed early.Iโm going to Kaitlynโs for a sleepover tomorrow night and hope to stay up later with her.

Edie was on terrific form yesterday. She so loves coming here, and never stops talking. She has got to the age when she is becoming more aware of the outside world. She and John had a formal debate about private education. It went very well. I think, at her age, it's nice to be listened to, and have someone take your opinions seriously. 'Being seen' is the jargon, I believe.
She and John did some painting, while I took advantage of 'body doubling' and framed my painting which has been sitting on the side, waiting, for months. I'm going to put it in the guest bathroom. I'll post it from my phone, but the real thing is much better than the photo.
I get so very tense when I'm working over a table, so I've been trying to get the tweaks out of my back this morning. I woke up early, head buzzing, so I did my writing before 5 pm, then my exercises. This morning I hope to get the guest bathroom all cleaned and set. Yesterday I washed living room cushion covers, and a couple of towelling robes forthe guests. I can't help myself! ๐ฏ
Edie helped me decide on one of my glass bowls for my cabinet. I keep crystal necklaces in it. Looks lovely. ๐
Bibi this afternoon. I will need to take a break. Didn't have one yesterday.

Much better and brighter in real life. The gold pops.
The bowl with my grandmother's crystal necklaces. Bought it years ago from a church fรชte. It goes very well with my new ribbed glass central lampshade. Edie approved.

Heather: i love your artwork! I enjoy the elegance/simplicity of the white guest room. I live in Sketchers and also have sketchers sandals. Maybe they make a dressier shoe for the evening. I will look!
Tracy/Mo: My friend has a red jeep. Pretty bold.
Mo: There is much happening for you. Your Mom, your patients and the sciatica. Yes, do consider your mental health! I forget ..do you ever get outside at all??
Rebecca: My sympathy to your sister.
Michele: I had no problem with the passport! Spent more time thinking about the steps when it was really all pretty straightforward. My friend suggests wide crops/capris with sneakers. A friend of hers buys Khaki pants and pairs them with blue tops and blouses and still another friend purchases black pants and pairs them with white blouses. I am hoping for a little mixture in my cruise wardrobe. Especially in October..dealing with variable weather. I enjoy the links Machka has found!
Lisa: I would love a. plushier yoga mat as well!
Margaret Turk: I love the painting of the dog!
Annie: Wow! a 91 year old caregiving for a 97 year old! That is amazing!
Beth: Sad about the passing of the 57 year old Father. My sympathy.
Carol: Wow! And I use to think paying on line might not be safe! I am so sorry this is happening!
JenLovingLife: Lovely picture. I was in Sedona in the 80s! I swam in the pool at a Best Western and looked at the Red Rock.
RVRita: I went to a new hair dresser this week. Been with the former hair dresser 10 years. I felt guilty but wanted a change!
Machka: Sorry about the dental work!
Cruise planning is doing better! The agent set up the WhatsApp and 2 ladies shared their excursions with me. They each had different excursions and I had still different excursions. So I am changing 4 excursions that I had signed up for at 9 when the cruise line opens. I am keeping 1 excursion that discusses the Myth of Hercules. I am looking forward to this!
Several in this group already traveled together on a cruise this year. Another lady is on a trip in Ireland now. They must have the travel itch. For me, this is a once in a life time trip!
I plan to try and walk 4 miles at least 3x a week to prepare for this trip.
Best,
Rosemarie from GA

Good morning my friends!
Lisa you can fold over the edge of a thin yoga mat to double it under your knees. Or maybe just use two. And you can trim the second one so you have some thick for your knees and some thinner for standingโฆSorry the injection was rough.
Margaret thank you for the pretty flowers and dog painting!
Jen welcome!
Rita Happy Birthday to your DH. Glad he got to celebrate.
Mo that's so sad for that little boy! Horrible.... it's a big mental step for a caregiver to sedate a dementia patient to control behavior. Sometimes it's the best option.
Carol that check fraud is scary! Sorry that happened to you.
Allie glad you are getting care. Maybe surgery will be helpful.
Michele glad to hear you and Jess are working things out in the kitchen. ...hope Vince's rib heals quickly!
Tracey thanks! ...such a fancy car! Love the moon roof!
Machka sorry about the dental budget hit. There's always something.
Beth hope your DH's back can be helped!
Rosemarie my travel fear is pickpockets. I would buy clothes with zipper pockets regardless of fashion...going back to school would be fun, but too much while my Dad needs care. I have trouble fitting in fifteen minutes of meditation without interruption. Although I did see now they have a business law degree online that looks interesting. Maybe someday.
Carol thanks for the compliment! I'm better at academics than hands on nursing and family issues. But this forum is a great help!
I had my physical. Not too bad; I need to get a dermatologist check and I've got raised liver enzymes. And I really need to get back to daily exercise.
Dad's class wants a medical release before he can go back. The doctor says he needs more information from the class. It's going to take me four hours of errands to get three hours of day care. Still, Dad didn't have a stroke, so that's the important thing.
May you all be happy, healthy, safe, and free!

Just a couple more tips:
- Get travel insurance. Hopefully you won't need it, but you'll be glad you have it if you do. We always get travel insurance when we leave our country.
- No American flags. No flags at all, but especially no American flags.
I love travelling and definitely have not done enough of it!!!
I've visited and cycled in the following places:
โ Canada: BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario
โ Australia: NSW, Queensland, Victoria, ACT, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia
โ US: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming (33 states)
โ UK: England, Wales, Scotland
โ France
โ Belgium
โ Taiwan
โ Japan
โ The Netherlands
โ Germany
โ Luxembourg
โ SwitzerlandI've just visited (but did not cycle) in the following places:
โ Hong Kong
โ New ZealandCanada: Quebec
US: Indiana, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, South Dakota, Wisconsin
I've seen Greenland from the air, have caught a glimpse of Italy from the Aiguille du Midi high mountain viewpoint looking at Mont Blanc and surrounding area, and were a stone's throw away from Spain when we were exploring the Perpignan, France area. Long ago, I was also at the US/Mexico border when my father took a wrong turn - so I've seen Mexico. ๐
So much more to see!!

Morning, kids,
Just barely got any writing done this morning. Corey's got his second cup of coffee, getting it together to head down to his eye doctor appointment in about an hour. I've got a load of bleached towels/etc., in, and have two more loads to get done this morning. I want to get a few minutes of yoga done this morning - pleased with the new yoga mat, because I broke down and bought a camping mat instead. Cheaper and quite a bit thicker. Hoping it will help the owies, and if it's not enough, I'll put my old yoga mat on top of it.
Talked to my son at length yesterday, over text, not my most favorite way, but it's his. As long as he's communicating, I'll take what I can get. He's finding that life with no one but a cat is more boring than he thought it would be. Good experience for him, not having anyone near to lean on, but a hard one to learn when you're 33โฆ I was 48, but lived next to my sis, so I still had someone if I wanted it. Then I met Corey at the place we both worked. I hope John will get out and make new friends, but since he's on disability and doesn't work, and he's going to school online, he never HAS to see anyone.
Rosemarie - It's been too long since I traveled to have good advice. Hope you have fun.
Allie - Hope you're feeling better this morning.
Heather - I like the bowl, as well as the bathroom painting. Frustrating not being able to get the real colors of a painting in the photos, huh.
Long holiday weekend here, hope anyone who's off work enjoys the day.
I need to go rustle up some breakfastโฆ
Later,
Love,

Tracey โฆ have that crown checked by your dentist. They are never supposed to feel "off." Most likely it is set too high. I've had that problem before and now don't leave the dentist's office until whatever work has been done "feels right."
I tend to laugh at most situations in my life or otherwise I'd be crying all the time! Seriously, I make a choice to be a positive person โฆ mostly because I live with two "Eeyores" โฆ but also because it helps me get over negative situations more quickly. My mom has settled in at the nursing home, in part, because she has a quick laugh and sharp wit.

Taking care of me this week. Got my hair cut, shorter than I wanted, but I like it. Got a mani-pedi yesterday and love how they came out. Also have gone back to meditating every day. These are things I really need to do for myself, not neglect. Especially this time of year as we get into the Holiday season and I go into depression season. If I could travel, I would (finances right now), the only other thing I would LOVE to do just for me!
Allergies back up right now, grass and weeks pollinating. Just finished my nebulizer with an interruption by a camper who doesn't trust the reservation app. He thought it was wrong for this holiday weekend. It is not. No sites available for Labor Day weekend. Nothing free until Monday. People just don't trust what they find on the internet. If they come to me, I search the same site they couldn't find a site on to tell them the same thing they found. They just feel more secure having person tell them what they found already. Frustrating for me sometimes, especially if I have to drop everything I was doing to tell them what they already knew.

We have Bea here. She's playing Scrabble with John at the moment, so I got a nice rest.
Earlier, we had a painting session, and she painted a picture of cheese, because she LOVES cheese, (as she told us several times)!!! I made a card for some lucky person. Haven't decided who yet.
All going well. She so loves playing with John.
Duck legs in the oven. I've seasoned them with Za'atar, and have put a few tiny potatoes in with them. Tenderstem broccoli with it.
Tomorrow I will be cleaning the bathroom, but I don't have masses to do. Last minute hoover. I might buy some flowers.
I've been sent an appointment for a covid and flu jab in October. Just two days before the cruise, but I usually only feel a bit off for half a day. I've accepted it. Plus some old friends want to meet up in September. I've suggested lunch at The Regency. They are dog and cat sitting for their son in Portslade, near here. The husband had lung cancer, but is doing well.
Love to all, especially Allie .

Margaret - thank you for the beautiful flower photos!
Lisa - I wonder if your son will eventually move to be closer to you & Corey - having family near by can be a boost for someone who isn't very outgoing. I do my floor stretches on a thick rug on top of living room carpeting. I see people using those thin yoga mats on top of concrete or hardwood and I just don't know how they do it without yelping in pain ๐. Sounds like you have found a good solution. Glad to hear you are feeling better.
Heather - it's always exciting to see your artwork and decorating ideas. Sounds like Bea and John are having another nice time.
Rosemarie - I can't see myself traveling much anymore so I'm living vicariously through your upcoming cruise and everyone else's adventures, much like Carol. Hope you have a great adventure.
Beth - looking at life with a positive attitude sure makes a difference. My DH was an Eeyore too as he grew older and I had to make an effort to remain happy. T helped me a lot since we're both goofy and tend to laugh at inappropriate times. ๐ Is your DH done with home improvement and remodeling projects now? Interesting about that CT scan finding things an MRI can't. Physical pain is one of the quickest ways I know to crave sweets and junk food. Voice of experience here. ๐
Rita - sorry your allergies are kicking up again. I finally just quit taking Allegra, didn't seem it made much difference anyhow. I recall the ranger at your park was kind of a "dipstick." Is that same ranger still there and if so, has he improved?
Allie - we are all worried about you. Is there anyone nearby who checks on you on a regular basis? Maybe Sean or Dan? To make sure you have food in the house/meals to eat? Has Tracy decided to be kind to her mother again?
I've been busy pruning and getting caught up on outside work this past couple days since it's been overcast in the mornings. T stopped by yesterday afternoon and caught me up on her news and then Mrs. Roger came over to visit for a little bit. Her house is so lovely, organized and clean and mine looks like a work in progress, especially right now with apples all over the counters and 20 dog toys on the floor in the living room. Plus Rosie trying to dominate the conversation. After Rosie settles down though she's a quiet little angel and loves getting petted.
Cooler weekend coming up around here. Plan to make applesauce and pick Aronia berries and pop them in the freezer. They normally aren't ready until the end of September and into October after the first frost. Might make a batch of apple cider vinegar too. Hate to see those apples going to waste.
Have a super day ladies! ๐
