30 Day Shred Question

Does anyone have recommendations for how to keep with the 30 Day Shred program? What motivated you?

I've started and stopped maybe 4 times already. I only get a few days in and I stop (usually because I missed a day). I've seen a bunch of people's amazing results and I would really love to have that. I'm just curious what other people have used as their motivation for the program.

Joining a 30DS challenge really motivated me! (There are plenty of them on the forum, just join the most recent one)
I also plan to reward myself with a new pair of sport shoes when I finish! (only 4 days left now)
And the last thing that kept me going is telling my partner! If I stop, I'll have to admit I failed :-)

Edited to add: looking at the "30DS" posts in the success stories was also a great source of motivation!

I didn't plan to do it every single day. I did it usually about 5 days a week. Those rest days were important to me for the physical rest and to keep from burning out psychologically. Sometimes I would take a few days off and just do other workouts instead. For me it was about finishing 30 days of the Shred, not about finishing them in 30 days... so it took me about 40 days to do the 30. I was really pleased with my results, and I think if I'd felt pressure to do 30 consecutive days, I would have gotten four days in and lost steam.

like the previous poster said, joining in a challenge group helped me stick to it! i am currently 11days away from the finish line. :))

I am not doing it every day consecutively. Sometimes I go for a run instead, I also take a rest day once a week. I seem to be having decent results and feel physically stronger.

Sometimes I am not motivated either, but then I remind myself it is only 25 minutes. That is really nothing, might as well get it over with. You just do it.

The success stories help as well.

I'm working my way through it and almost stopped because I missed several days but instead I just picked up where I left off. You don't have to start over because you missed a day, it is still helping you. As to motivation, I just put on a pair of jeans that I haven't been able to button in about a year and they're comfortable!

I do it 3 times a week so it'll take me until December to complete it. I wanted to keep different workouts in my routine, like swimming one or two times a week and Zumba once a week, plus it's important to have rest days (which as a student, I conveniently plan around my 9am lectures!)

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I feel overwhelmed occasionally when considering doing it for 30 days in a row, but I would miss a day and then feel like I would have to start all over again. Then I felt that really put the pressure on! It's good to know that I still might see results even if I don't do it "everyday".

I just do it. Even if I miss a day, I do it the next day. Honestly, I'm not "motivated" to do it. Its just another thing to check off my list everyday...but I figure it only takes 25 minutes. So better to just do it. :)

i made up my mind to do it first thing in the morning... NO EXCUSES! i also joined a group and reported in with my group daily to encourage others as well as get encouragement myself. my mfp friends and fellow shredders kept me going! my motto is and was, "i can do anything for 20 minutes!" even on days when i didn't feel like doing it, i made myself put in the dvd and get started... i never once quit after i got started!

you have to decide you're worth it! it's only 20 minutes, what have you got to lose besides inches?!
