Interesting what post and when a post takes off with comments, for sure... a bit of serendipity there.

With this discussion, a bit caught my eye - where is this concern coming from? A place of compulsion/obsession/over-concern OR not?

A healthy approach to anything in life includes active awareness and adjustments related to variations, small or large.

I would NOT be concerned if the thought arises from a place of curiosity as Springlering mentionrd —, a typical 'oh hey, what doooo these weigh?', since I can't just remove them like removing my shoes before stepping on the scale - my bulky large tennies do add 2 lbs - and there are unsanitary places I do not want to pull off those shoes! :D

And, in adjusting/reset to a new bit of info like Ann mentioned. Think my new scale weighed 10ish lbs heavier and matched docs scale… — it was a mental blurp, required an adjustment in my internal identity and thinking.

Pretty sure that when I had an ovary removed (with a benign tumor) ten years ago, I asked the surgeon how much it weighed. I mean, FACTS.

My pathology report told me what they weighed. OK, used to weigh. About 4 pounds per, IIRC, but they weren't large.

I did ask my surgeon how much my gallbladder weighed. She thought I was obsessing, but I was just curious. šŸ˜‰ I don't remember the answer, but it was in ounces.

Maybe I just read it wrong, but I thought OP sounded stressed about it, from things like "I plan to work on ignoring the hair and just acting as though this is the actual weight and still aiming for my 150lbs or less. This way whenever I do lose the hair extensions, I'll still be well under my target goal."

Someone asked earlier about a unitary goal weight vs. a goal range. Personally, I'd strongly suggest thinking of a range. I get water/waste fluctuations of 2-3 pounds routinely, and up to 5-6 occasionally, from one day to the next (here in year 9+ of maintenance, currently at 131 pounds). Over the past week or so, I've weighed anything from 129 to 133 pounds at my routine morning weigh-in. Not an up trend, not a down trend, just bouncing around at my routine morning weigh-in.

If I tried to keep a single goal weight, I'd drive myself insane . . . but maybe that's just me. Having a one-number maintenance ceiling is maybe workable.

I just had my husband stand behind me and hold them up LOL

Please don't get me wrong, I have explored curiosity in weighing in so many ways, before and after walks, bathroom breaks, meals, workouts, sweaty activities iykwim…

My comments to OP in this thread are very much in response to the tone of her post which indicated that this was something that was genuinely distressing her, she comments about avoiding every extra ounce and not wating to weigh with damp hair after swimming etc.

Curiosity is great. Stressing yourself over decimal points on the scale is not great.

    I heart it, thank you.

I figured I had gone a step too far with caring about it one way or the other. Now I know I'm not alone! LOL.

…Also, I would have loved to have heard Mr. Alaterial's comments when asked to help…

I was a K cup, and no, that’s not coffee jargon.

My plastic surgeon said he removed over six pounds, weighed immediately after reduction, before biopsy.

Ladies, I want you to imagine dangling a 3+ pound roast from either side.

No fun. Still have dents where the bra straps were, and (TMI) either side of my belly button, where they used to hang to. Pendulous critters.

That’s why running was such a joy for a while after weight loss I hadn’t run since seventh grade, and only when forced to in PE then.

I asked to be flat chested, telling the doc I was over it. He refused. Said I’d be sorry. and that my husband would ā€œmissā€ them. Love my husband but 🤬. We (doc and I- husband said do whatever made me happy) had quite an argument over it. I’m still a DDD, and still can’t buy shirts with buttons down the fronts. And I still wouldn’t hate if I were flat chested.

I’m reading lately that the new social media trend has people asking for ā€œballerinaā€ or ā€œyogaā€ boobs. And having enlargements removed. Boy, we are a fickle society.

You mean, MFP needs to bring the reaction button back. Along with some other things……

….I’m going to run and hide now!!

This really made my day!🤣 I guess I opened up a can of worms for you to let out some steam. Yes, the hair is much heavier when you put it on, synthetic vs real also makes a difference. The thing is I took packs of hair and she uses it sparingly. I have predicted it weighs 0.5 - 1 pound really. I took some of the posters' advice and ignored any weight added, that way it's to my advantage. Basically just ignore it, keep pushing forward and weigh even less when it's removed. I usually take it down and wait 1-2 weeks before having it done again, if i get it done again. I weigh myself with better results. And it's really heavy when wet but I would never weigh in soaking wet! hugšŸ¤—

BTW to everyone else - I love all the feedback on this thread. Thank you guys. It was really very insightful and I hope it helps someone else through this dilemma. 😊

Yes, I had worked on meeting my weight goal for more than a year this time. 110% totally dedicated. Logged into MFP daily without fail. I was so close by 'igits and then got the extensions. So it took a huge mental toll to not account for that weight. I've since moved past it and I did reach my goal WITH the extensions. Meaning when I remove them, I'll weigh even less. I've set a NEW goal for end of the year. God help me!

Wow! Now that's a mouthful.🤣 I loved reading this post. I have … large ones too. Not the K Cup. hahaha i keep thinking about coffee, girl! But I'm happy you made the choice for yourself. Mine are big enough and not the bestest looking. I promised myself that if I get down to my ideal weight, eventually 135'ish I'd have this extra flabby skin removed. I'm still pondering that thought. The sagginess ain't fun nor funny. I look great in my clothes although many are sagging off me now. I'm looking forward to going shopping for a new wardrobe. Lol, maybe I should start a new thread on this idea. Thanks for sharing your personal story Springlering62

Yay for reaching your Goal, Ms phatShaming!

Keep us posted on your progress to your new goal. You said God help me. You know that will happen!

We did have a little fun with your topic, so I'm happy that the hair didn't deter you and you got past that understandable mental glitch. :)

šŸ˜‚ haha, hair can totally trick the scale! Extensions are probably only a pound or two, so nothing to stress.
