Beth ~ It is so good that you are able to visit your mother so much but I know it is difficult to see her when she is having a bad day. My mom was almost 2hrs away and I only got there every 2 or 3 wks. mainly because of the awful I75 traffic through Atlanta. I was glad that two of my brothers were near and able to go often. My sister was working full time at the time but still visited as often as she could. My worst memory was on a Sunday when we had our son's family for a visit and she someway was able to get my phone number and called to say that I needed to come right away and take her to the dr. right then. I just cried as that was on her mind for several yearsโฆI am sick and need to go to the dr. Evidently the dr got tired of it and wasn't much help.

Mo โ I searched for โmonique mcMillon and a few came up. Some I could immediate eliminate, but there were a few others that I wasnโt sure about. Can you give me some more information?
BK wasnโt busy yesterday so there wasnโt much prep that needed to be done. No surprise here. But that did give me time to get the yogurt in the IP, get potatoes peeled for dinner
Am trying to return a shirt to Amazon. They have on my order list a different shirt (different color and size) Try as I might, no one seems to be able to do anything. I just want to return the right item! I sent them a picture of the item, hopefully in 6 hours theyโll have a return code for me.
Pip and barbara โ you know, thatโs what we used to do with the service dog! Why I didnโt think of it, I have no idea (CRS right now probably). When he walked beside me on the left, he got a treat and a click, if he walked in front of me, he got nothing.
Went in the pool now off to take Ganon for a walk.
Carla โ best of luck to you on your ending journey
Lanette โ yes, J&C are staying here to save up for a house. Honestly, they may have been able to buy one right after Jโs residency, but they also want to look and see what they really want. They would have been rushed. This way they arenโt. I donโt mind. As a matter of fact, I hope they stay at least until Dec. so they can help put up the Christmas decorationsโฆ.lol
You know, having J&C here in a way is good for me. I canโt always track so I find that Iโm being more mindful of what I put in my mouth. Plus, walking Ganon gets my steps in!!! And NO I DO NOT want a dog.
Took Ganon for another walk
Beth โ congrats to your son! Isnโt it frustrating how easily men can lose weight? Iโm so sorry about your husband. I certainly can understand why you donโt care for that doc. How sad about your mom
Karen โ welcome! Jump right in when something interests you. Weโd love to hear from you more often
Off to a shower and then bed. Count donations at the church tomorrow.

A bit of cute Athena. She took her Mom's phone a wee minute๐
Shes so hilarious! I was gonna put it in a spoiler but I am lazy.

Oh and Eli is in there too! Soon he will be 2 yrs old! I let husband buy the card and gifts for him, (when I wasn't feeling particularly great). He bought a cute Batman mask/birthday card, a gift card, a bunch of building blocks (girl on the outside, and pastel colored blocks but ah well), and some chunky cars. I wrapped things, boxed it up and he mailed it! We make a good team.

Got home from the show and the tech was waiting for us. He wanted to come earlier but we were still at the show. He is still working on it- hopefully it doesn't take too much longer. DH and I have not eaten any real food all day- just a few snacks and both of us are very hungry- going to pick up food as soon as the guy leaves.
It was 104 in Turlock today- the show was inside but the AC only worked part of the time.
We did pretty well for a 5 hr show. Looking forward to the next three. First two are close to home, 15 min and 20 min away, the third is an hour away but 20 min from mom and that one is in November. He is putting the doors back on- almost done!!

Barbara - Iโm happy to see you!
I think if I had a mechanic around I would continue to drive older as well. I love all of the features on this car, but also know that if something goes wrong it will be an expensive bill.Banking - I have had cheques in years, I use my debit card and cash more than anything. I check my bank account every morning to make sure nothing funny is going on.
Machka - I like those quiet weekends at home too. So much gets accomplished.
Lisa - I canโt wait to see the floor. Corey sure is a worker bee.
I think too many people know too much about what they think is best these days. I donโt remember my grandmothers and Aunts using anything but water baths for canning anything.Heather - Iโm so happy for you that you were able to have both of your sons together. Busy weekend though.
Lanette - stray lids and socks, maybe they come back as dust bunnies. I honestly donโt know where they go.
I just replaced my Tupperware I sold when I moved out here 28 years ago within the last 5 years or so. I keep looking for something of their fridge smart containers they are well worth the money.
I received a lesson in chicks and hens this weekend. Kaitlynโs friend Raquel has started a little farm. She has 8 hens and 1 rooster. One of the hens was caught sitting on a pile of eggs. 22 of them! They decided to see if they were worth incubating fully expecting to lose a bunch. Chase her son now has 19 chicks! They are his because he is earning the money from the eggs when they start producing, so in the meantime they are his responsibility. Iโll have to buy some eggs from him when they do.Pip - I love the view.
Barbie - Congratulations to your son, it will be nice to have a visit with them.
Lisa - Iโm interested in seeing your rug. My grandmother used to do latch hook. She one time made a rug with all of the scrap yarn from the kits.
Lanette - I agree those old Frigidaires sure worked long.
Did you try replacing the bulb in the fridge? Iโve had to replace one in a couple of mine.Carla - I bet the year will fly by with your retirement date set.
Beth - Hugs it must be difficult to have your Mom call like that.
We had a resident call 911 and tell them she had been kidnapped and was being abused. They wanted to name of her doctor to confirm she wasnโt.Iโm late to bed. Chat tomorrow.

Yes, that is HUGE progress for him- he stayed pretty calm for most of the dealings with this company
He knows it wasn't the tech's fault. The company didn't tell him when the part came in.Just happy that it was fixed and we don't have to replace the fridge(and all the work that goes with that)

my dh woke up during one of his hip replacement surgeries- I think it was his third(yep, he has had 4 hip replacement surgeries-first two failed after less than 4 yrs).
He said he felt them tugging on his leg, he told them he was awake and they put him back out.
When he was done he asked the doctor two things- Did the specialist show up(they were waiting for him when they put him out-needed the specialist because of the metal poisoning ate up part of the bone) and the second was , Did he wake up-they told him yes.5 -
V pleased with self.
I did my exercises. Did my writing. Then I cancelled my free 2 month Readly, before I had to pay. That's the third time, but they keep inviting me back. I still have this one until the 6th. Then I renewed my driving licence online. ๐ I've been putting it off for weeks. Of course, it was easy. I've got in before they are introducing mandatory eye tests. No charge for renewal. I have no intention of driving, but it's useful for additional identity verification.
Washed and hung up my bed linen.
Prepped dinner.
And it's only 9.50. I will do a Waitrose order this morning. John's pension comes in on Thursday. Our guests were expensive, with new bed linen and fish and chips.
Kids over this afternoon. Unfortunately, the weather is terrible, so no cricket in the park. Max is walking them over.
G has booked herself a solo (group) holiday to Helsinki, Tallinn, and Riga, for next June. Sounds good. 4 star hotels, own en suite room. She needs something to look forward to. But she is doing well.

Thank you Barbie for September start. Congratulations to your your son.
I keep starting but then get distracted...
My excitement for the weekend....
I got to pet a Maine Coon! DH finally got to see why I want one. He liked too. Cali keeps trying to meet Joe (sil's lab). Funny that she is terrified of dogs to the right, but not Joe to the left. They were funny to watch Saturday night. Went to a local craft fair on Sunday. Had a lot of fun and saw a lot of interesting upcycles. Did buy a few items. Joined oldest daughter and family for her birthday dinner. Yesterday was car show. Oldest granddaughter came and hung out with us. Massage was wonderful in the evening. The youngest daughter along with youngest grandson, oldest granddaughter, and her boyfriend came over to pick up my Flex. Youngest grandson got hit again in his car. This time not totalled, but does need body work. He gets the family van, daughter will drive Flex until they get rental car. Probably only a day or two. I guess this is why I keep the Flex.
Back to work todayโฆcan't say much as I did none all weekend. 5 more sleeps to vacation!!! Started putting things together. I actually have a checklist for this trip.
Hugs!
Healing thoughts!
Congratulations!

You can't put pictures into a spoiler.

Machka That picture of the tense cat due minor commitment later? Perfect! And yes you also recommended Vera Wongโs Unsolicited Advice for Murderes, thanks! Sure hope it turns into a series. Wish debit cards in the US had the same protections as credit cards, but alas they do not. Con VERY gratulationis on the scary room progress. And Belated Best Birthday wishes to Rowan on his milestone birthday!
Barbara โ I am reading Book 2 of Vera Wong. So there are at least 2 books in the series. ๐

Morning, kids,
Kylia - Took me a minute to figure out a Flex was a vehicle! Should have knownโฆ
Heather - Well done! Was only able to write maybe a paragraph with Corey home. Can't blame it on him, though, there was plenty time. Enjoy the grandsโฆ
Beth - I know it's hard when your mom is distressed. I'm glad you've got her close, and that you've got her in a place that you know treats her well.
Tracey - I'm interested in seeing what I make, tooโฆ I remember making a latch hook rug, but I honestly can't remember what happened to it. Too many moves over the years, and I'm terrible about giving things that I make away. Might be the southern woman thing - if my mother's Aunt Belle had something or made something, and you admired it, she'd not only give it to you, she would take it out to your car for you! You never left without at least one quilt and jars of canned food.
Rebecca - Great pictures of Athena and Eli. She's got a great sense of humorโฆ
Life in the country:
My exercise for yesterday was climbing up and down off the tractor and loading logs and brush onto the forks we bought to make it usable for brush cutting. Took three loads to get it all from where a branch came crashing down during the rains last week over to the burn pile. Big branch.
Many of the logs I couldn't lift, as they were more than two feet (60cm) in diameter and up to four feet long after he cut them with the chainsaw. Corey has a lot of work ahead of him to get all the brush and scrap burned in the months ahead. I will do a lot of things outside, but burning brush is definitely not a favorite. He enjoys it, I do not.
Hmmmโฆ maybe we'll wait until the grands come in the spring and have a bonfire. Always depends on the weather, though, and if we're in a burn ban.
Unfortunately, I walked inside at one point, and when I came back out he was rubbing his eye. Got jabbed in the eye with a branch and I think the eyeball swelled, probably from a bruise. He said his eye was closed when it happened, so no schmutz inside it, just irritated from the impact.
Bless him, he is very much a hardworking man and an amazing worker, but not necessarily careful with his own body. He comes home every day from work with new scrapes and cuts and bruises and even burns from welding sparks. Hope a good night's sleep helped the swelling go down in his eye. I'll ask during his "good morning" call. And yes, I did ask him to go to urgent care. I did not get a polite response. ๐
Couldn't resist picking up a lottery ticket yesterday, but a look at the website this morning showed we still aren't billionaires. The Powerball didn't get won, however, so the prize will still be over a billion on the next drawing on Wednesday. Don't know why a billion is the trigger point for me, but it always isโฆ
That's about it from Arkansas, kidsโฆ Physical therapy this afternoon, and I THINK this is my last week with them, but I could be wrong. Yes, it did lots of good, but no, it's not miraculously healed. It's just an awful lot better.
Later, my loveliesโฆ

Just wanted to say "Hello again." I remember you posting in a previous month's thread. You are quite welcome, and please do post whenever you like. You do not have to respond to anyone, or to everyone at all. As far as that kind of eating, there are two possible tools to use. 1) Make sure there's nothing worth binging in the house and 2) tell yourself if you're still wanting it, you can have a small amount in ten minutes. Then distract yourself. Get up. Do something else, watch something else, get your hands busy and occupied. Come here, type out how you're feeling. Erase it all if you don't want to actually share it, but write it down first.
Glad you're here!

Michelle โฆ while men who have a few pounds to lose often lose weight quickly, in the case of my son, who has been dealing with significant weight issues for several years โฆ he has made both mental and physical lifestyle changes. He's only eating clean, low fat protein meals, supplemented with among other things casein and creatinine. Our basement has turned into a gym with new equipment arriving daily. His dedication to changing himself is more than impressive. I cannot minimize his efforts or his results as just "male luck."
Kylia โฆ glad no one was hurt in the accident.
Lisa โฆ I only pick up lottery tickets when they hit huge jackpotsโฆ which is so statistically dumb when you think about it. Wouldn't we have better odds when the jackpot was smaller and less people were playing? I guess one or two million just isn't enough! ๐คฃ
Planning on visiting my mom this afternoon with ice cream. I'm anticipating that she will not mention yesterday at all.
Have a great day.

Lisa, my sister accumulates quite a burn pile throughout the year, so towards the fall months they have a big bonfire. The first time they had one, she found out her daughter in law is quite the pyrotechnic of the family! My sis said she waa absolutely giddy with delight.๐๐
Back to drinking my morning coffee shakes. Fun way to get both 2 espresso shots, and 20grams of protein.
I was able to video chat with both middle son, Eli a bit, Athena just in passing, and my overseas eldest sailor son. Always nice to see the two of them chatting back and forth. They were quite the pair growing up. The middle son looked up to him! Here he is after writing a paper on "Who he admires the most" in middle school. I got the eldest out of high school that day, saying he had an orthodontist appointment. I was sneaky!
And then in 2024. Youngest in the middle.
I can't wait until eldest gets leave in December. It will be a whirlwind week, but he's also spending some leave time back in Japan to attend a car meet, and also meander back to where is squadron lives, sightseeing. Youngest should be able to get leave too, as he doesn't really have to bounce leave time scheduling off anyone. He will find out during his upcoming GI appointment what the next plan is. He is going squirrelly just in limbo. Buying random things to keep life interesting.
His latest cap purchase.๐
My sister was able to ride in a tree cutting bucket and took a nice photo of her home from high up. She had a blast! This is her 1875 home.๐๐๐ผ
Well today I get sprayed by the dermatologist. Fun city!๐. Just two sprays with the freezing spray so not too awful. He's weird, because he's just very excited to see me, to biopsy stuff, and use that blasted sprayer!

Having the evening protein snack is helping with the leg cramping at night. I try to also have it with a glass of lemon water. I still have some cramping but it is much milder and I don't have to get out of bed because of the pain.
There is such a push now for intermittent fasting. I still see advantages in this but I believe you need to do what works for you instead of following a trend. I think you need to consider your age, underlying health issues, and whether you are male or female. There is so much information out there today I am always learning and tweaking my health protocols to what works best for me.
The messages that I hear over and over again that I think is most helpful is cut down on overly processed food, reduce sugar and fructose in what you eat, reduce exposure to pesticides/herbicides , only take an antibiotic if absolutely necessary, filter water, drink enough water per day, use a mask and or air cleaner when pollution levels are high, question the source of your food. Eat the highest quality food you can afford.
What is accepted today may change tomorrow. I am reading a book titled Blind Spots. Unfortunately some ideas take longer than they should to change. One example he gave was Aids. There were doctors who recognized early blood was one way the illness was passed on. They were not listened too and it took ten years to get things to change. Many died too soon as a result. Arthur Ashe was one. He was given a tainted transfusion and died of Aids.
I still think when I lost a lot of blood when my second son was born in 1985. I am so glad they did not give me a transfusion.
I just finished reading how childbirth practices are changing for the better. Hopefully it will help make what happened to you Mo less likely.

Been busy lately. Sorry I missed yesterday. Last 2 days I worked 1/2 a day in pay booth then the rest in the visitor station. Not been feeling well either. My ribs/ upper back arthritis is in a flare, and I ran out of Tylenol Arthritis, the only thing I'm allowed to take with my CKD.
Thought for Today:
What is fast, loud and crunchy?

Lisa - I just went back to last month and found your post with the flooring information. I had no idea there was such a thing as floor cement. Sorry to hear about Corey's poke in the eye. He reminds me so much of my DH who would dive right into projects and end up with wounds around that looked fairly nasty. He'd brush them off too.๐ฎ Anyways, your Corey is both handsome and handy!๐
Rebecca - thank you for sharing all those photos. Eli is growing up so fast and Athena is a cutie. Love the pic of your three boys together - doesn't it seem like yesterday they were still little guys? Glad your sis could get that spectacular view of her house. What a pretty place!
Heather - Edie looks good on that 10 pound note. Maybe a peek into the future? ๐
Tracey - that light problem in my fridge has to do with the switch which must have a short. There's a little button that's depressed when the door is shut so the light goes out. Don't ask me how I know, lol. I presume. Anyhow if I "flick" it when the door is open, sometimes the light actually comes on a few times. When my DH was well into his memory loss he told me he would going to fix it. Thankfully I talked him out of it, it would have involved ripping out the plastic liner on the inside. At least the thing still worked.
Debbie - speaking of fridges, hope yours is back up and running now and lasts a long, long time. ๐
Carla - retirement will be here before you know it. Is Freddy retired?
Ripening tomatoes - I was reading up on ripening tomatoes this time of year and several articles mentioned to quit watering them and trim off any new teeny tomatoes trying to form and some of the vegetation. Also put some apples around the base because of the ethylene gas they emit. I've done all the above. Wish me luck.
Applesauce - made a batch yesterday. For some reason, not fond of it this year. I'll make another small batch in a week or so with a different type of apples. Putting it all in the freezer in glass wide mouth jars.
Shorter (and longer) days - according to AI, I'm going to lose 1 hour and 43 minutes of daylight during the month of September! You ladies north of me - Sue, Rebecca, Barbie, Tracey, Terri and Heather, to name a few, will see an even more dramatic shortening. Machka - you'll be gaining approx. 1 hour and 25 minutes of daylight in September.

Spray on face went fine. I hate it, but one of those things you gotta do, right? Still waiting for clinic to fill my new prescription. Hopefully it will arrive in this afternoons shipment. I will call them back again this afternoon. I have been almost a week without my GLP-1 med, and it will be like starting over. Luckily the food noise hasn't kicked in, still just eating what I plan out. I will most likely have a repeat of yesterday's egg salad sandwich, as I gotta use the egg up. Thinking about making a musubi for dinner though. Need to work out the numbers.

Rebecca - Thank you for reminding me, I called, and the dermatologist was able to fit me in this afternoon. I'll be heading over there after I finish with my physical therapist. Hopefully not too sweaty!
Lanette - I think so too. I think about all the little things that had to happen in order to have him in my life. Small decisions and big decisions, left turns instead of right, on both our parts. I take none of this time with him for granted. It's why I don't take phone calls after 5 p.m. or on weekends, and friends and family know it. I am ever grateful for him, even scabby and ouched up, bless him.
Debating on picking up Netflix now or next month. The new series of Wednesday is available now, plus I'd like to see The Thursday Murder Club. Couldn't convince myself to pay the money for the booksโฆ I need to get my library card renewed and get back on Libby, I'm just being lazy. Great British Baking Show starts in September as well, but won't be over until Nov. 7.
Still thinking.
Later,
Love, Lisa4 -
Good deal, its definitely not a doctor that's on my radar either. If it wasn't for the reminder cards we get, I would space going altogether.๐๐. As it was, I opened the door of the physical therapy place next door instead of actually looking where I was going. Husband honked at me, "um its the OTHER door Rebecca". Doh!

Lunch is 3 oz of cooked jumbo sjrimp , cut tails off and cut up. Tossed them in some Old Bay and nuked for a sec. Then microwaved a Birds Eye steamer bag of broccoli, and cheesy rotini pasta. I had a cup of that, (its a 2 cup portion). Dinner will be some raw veghies, dip and half my egg salad sandwich. Snacks are a small can of tomato juice, a container of Okios triple zero yogurt with 1/2 pouch of Kodiak crisp granola bars. A good day. 83.5 oz of liquids.
