    Good morning!

Machka- Yes, there are more illnesses going round. That reminds me to start taking my elderberry. Hope you both get over this soon.

Allie- Thank you for checking in! We were worried because we care. I hope you get more answers sooner rather than later.

    Kay- Happy Anniversary!

Carol- I too was going to ask about DH...

Michele- We didn't get a Maine Coon. Just got to pet one. Maybe one of these days.

Beef bacon....anyone? It is Halal. I saw it on a reel. I found it at a small local grocery. Since I can't have pork, I figured I would try. I was craving a BLT! It was really good! Expensive, but would buy again for occasional eating.

I had to change my Gmail passwords yesterday. At one point I just threw my phone on the counter. Done, but so frustrating! I was logging in using my normal logins so hopefully all is okay.

Getting lots done! Stretching twice a day.

Thankful for a body that works. Food to nourish it. Water to cleanse it. Shelter to protect it. And friends who help support it.

    Much love,

    Kylia in Ohio

No you didn't have to change your Gmail password.

And if you did it via a link or phone number, you've been compromised.

Did Google send out an emergency alert to Gmail users?
Google has stressed enough that rumors about a big Gmail security warning are
    not true.

What about the reported breach of Google's database?
In June, hackers known as Shiny Hunters did get into Google's Salesforce database, which is used to store data for small and medium-sized businesses. But Google said that this event did not affect Gmail, Google Drive, or reveal users' passwords or financial information.

Still, false reports connected the breach to Gmail, which caused unnecessary fear and led to scams that took advantage of the situation, as per a report by AL.com

How are scammers taking advantage of the situation?
Cybercriminals are sending fake warnings to Gmail users, telling them to change their passwords through fake links or phone calls. Scammers get direct access to accounts by tricking people into giving them new login information. Google says that these phishing attempts are the real threat, not a hack of the whole system, as per a report by AL.com

    https://www.msn.com/en-in/money/news/should-all-gmail-users-change-password-google-has-this-to-say

    https://www.al.com/news/2025/09/all-gmail-users-should-change-password-immediately-heres-the-truth-to-viral-claims.html

    The news sounds ominous.

“2.5 billion Gmail users should change passwords,” the headlines warn, saying Google has issued an emergency alert to all its users.

Not so fast, however. While Google and Gmail are often targeted by scammers, claims of an emergency alert are “entirely false,” the tech giant said.

Machka - I never got an email about Gmail being hacked, so never clicked on an email link.

I saw an announcement on someone's Facebook page that Gmail had been hacked, so it was advised to change passwords. I just went into Gmail settings like I normally do and changed it - it had been a while so it was time to do that anyhow.

I'll blame my misreading on this Flucold.

Did you go to 2-factor authentication with a passphrase? Once you do that, you don't need to worry so much about updating passwords.

Lanette The scary thing about that e-mail is it was from my friends e-mail account, so it doesn't always work to check out the sender. What made this odd too is she does not usually send me e-mails. I learned after the fact it is better to send things like this to spam. Once it is in trash you cannot put it in spam. I use Google and the way you do that on Google is to put a check by the e-mail and then go to the icons above the e-mails and there is a circle for spam. If you just put it in trash they might send you another e-mail. Spam blocks them.Ever browser is a bit different and you might have to use a different process to get the e-mail into spam.

When in doubt don't click and for sure don't open an attachment or reply to it. I am going to start replying by going to the person's e-mail account directly. Extra step but if it prevents a hack worth it. In the case of my friend it was best to contact her in a different way because her account had been hacked.

I am starting to send the friend request from questionable guys straight to spam. It will give me good practice on what to do with questionable e-mails.

Still having a small protein with a small fruit and or veggie before bed. Last night had an apple with slice of good quality cheese. (not American or Velvetta both too processed) Slept through no leg cramps. Another thing I think is helping we are having cooler weather too so I am getting less dehydrated.

I do use e-mail because I get legit reminders to pay certain bills. Always go to their web sites not from e-mail. When I order something I get e-mail with updates as to when it will be delivered. My choir director sends me recordings to practice our hymns. So I find it a helpful tool for many reasons. I just delete or put in spam the things that I no longer need.

Beth - Rebecca kinda beat me to the punch, but Corey and I have been experimenting six ways from Sunday to try to figure out how to make chicken breasts edible for how we eat, and so far, dicing them up small, spicing them up with almost any spice mixture you like, worked best. Throw the diced chicken into a bowl, plus one egg per chicken breast, and a very small amount of flour and some shredded cheese, if you like. It can be cooked in a non-stick pan sprayed with a very small amount of oil to very brown and tasty and tastes absolutely wonderful. Crockpots for hours work as well, if you can handle the shredded texture (I can only handle it in an enchilada) and I think Ginny had a good crockpot recipe as well.

Edit to add - Chicken breasts are so large, and this mixture, with a 10-oz breast, made EIGHT patties the size of a hamburger! So it goes a long way - I'll bet you could add some black beans or other soft beans, almost anything. We're going to try to make some ahead this weekend and freeze them uncooked, separately, so we can pull out enough just for one dinner. They should fry up from frozen just fine, and go with any kind of ethnic spice blend, Mexican, Italian, Greek, whatever. Chicken breasts are now the cheapest way you can buy chicken here, so it's frugal, too.

Do you get email friend requests from questionable guys?

With Gmail, I get very little spam. The occasional thing might make its way through but 98% of my email are actual things I need to address.

One of the things I have done for years is to use my Hotmail account for less important stuff where they want you to supply an email address for whatever. Hotmail seems to have a better spam filter than Gmail.

Another thing I have been doing is unsubscribing from repeated emails. These are real emails from real companies I have done business with, but I figure when I need to do business with them again I will look them up. (Do not attempt to unsubscribe from something you think is spam or phishing because it will take you to a bad link - clicking any link on a bad email including unsubscribe is not good).

And I refuse most loyalty associations — loyalty cards, etc.

Business can have their contacts stolen or some businesses will sell them and all of a sudden your email address is on questionable lists and you're getting weird spam.

Chicken breasts … I boil them and slowly rake off the meat. Pulled chicken, basically.

Then I pop it into the slow cooker with veggies.

Thanks Rebecca, Lisa and Machka! I am leaning towards trying to make the pieces smaller and quick sauté. I've not had luck with poaching/boiling in the past … I always go too far past done. And I don't really like the texture of crockpot cooked chicken … gets too mushy. I am a fussy one even if my son isn't. Lol.

Right there with you, sistah - texture is everything! Try it as a patty, you can make it as crispy/crunchy as you want, and as spicy or non as you want it. I was very happy with it for dinner Tuesday night, and will definitely keep trying it until we can settle on a couple of spice sets that we like.

There is always pre breaded chicken tenders. I buy Applegate Natural breaded chicken and compared to lets say Tyson for 3 oz of the product:

    Tyson:

It isn't a lot of difference but I do like 3 more grams to play with. The ingredients seem a bit more healthy listing.

     - good idea sending these questionable emails into spam. For some reason, I seem to rarely get anything like that, but I do get a lot of repeat advertisements that go into "promotions" or "social" tabs that I clean out every now and then - sometimes an important email gets dumped into that section. There's no option to move them into spam from those tabs, but I see I can move them into the inbox and send them to spam & block from there. Thanks for the tip.😁

    image.png

You can get rid of those "promotion" or "social" labels by going into Settings and clicking on the Inbox tab at the top. Then indicate what categories you want to show or hide.

I've hidden all the categories because emails I needed would end up in a different category and it was a pain to have to hunt through and find them.

Mushy chicken is OK with me as long as it isn't even the tiniest shade of pink and as long as there is no gristle or veins.

Michele - I've been meaning to answer you - I like the new food diary a lot! Easier to read, the font is a little bigger on my laptop. No major changes that I can see. Looks like they are going to make it permanent soon.

Did HIIT today. Again I was told that I couldn’t use the family locker room, they might have an inspection. I was told that since I couldn’t use the lady’s locker room, I should use this handicapped bathroom. Well, there isn’t a locker there and there isn’t a shower. I think I’ll just continue to use the family locker room, just not use the pool so I’m out by 8 (even sooner). Do they REALLY think they’re going to have an inspection at 6:30in the morning? I don’t think this was thought thru

Rebecca – does your sister have the house listed as historical? She probably couldn’t change the windows if she wanted. I know my friend can’t since her house is something like over 50 years old.

Allie – thanks so much for checking in. Delia is going to be 1??? Where is the time going? Happy Birthday to your bro

After exercise went to Food Lion since cabbage is on sale. Then went to WalMart in Conover to see if they have the pool baking soda. The WalMart by me was out. They had quite a few

I keep getting these emails that say that it couldn’t be delivered to exermom@google , only I don’t have a google acct! I just delete these.

Beth – your mother sounds like a hoot

Put my Taz in to be fired at ceramics. I’ll probably be able to pick it up Tues.

Honestly, I really don’t see much difference between the old and the new diaries. I do wish the color was brighter that told you how much you were over (like protein, fiber, etc). It in some ways it is handy to see the diaries from a certain time to another time. I liked seeing the macros in a pie shape, but I think I can get used to it on a line. I would like to see that you can have a certain amount of food in your list and these foods don’t get deleted until you’ve reached your limit. There are certain foods that I might not have for a month or two. By then it’s been deleted from my list of current foods so I have to search in the database again. But I doubt that change has been made. Really, to me, it’s really like the old diary. Wonder why they decided to make the change? As far as I know, no one really asked for it. What I would like to see is that the database of foods be cleaned up. There can be multiple entries for the exact same foods. Or a food will have it listed as it having 0 calories. That's not possible

    Margaret

On your laptop, go to the part of myfitnesspal where you log your food, exercise, etc.

    Look at all the settings.

In whatever software/apps you use, look at all the settings. Set them up so that you are happy and they cause you the least stress and least things to do.

In this case, click: Change Email Address / Email Preferences

The screen below will come up.

At the very top will be your email address, and this is one example where I use my secondary email address, not my main email address because MFP contacts may go elsewhere.

Below your email address will be these choices.

Only select the ones you want. So Margaret, in your case you'll want to uncheck "Someone sends me a friend request".

Others of you who complain about the male-looking bots sending friend requests … do they come to your email? If so you'll want to change this too. Those sorts of requests never come to my email because I have unchecked "Someone sends me a friend request". So I don't notice the friend requests.

At the bottom of the screen select Save Changes. As noted on the screen, it may take 72 hours for the changes to take effect.
