My scale has a body fat % setting, and this morning i was at 22.3. made me curious, so i took 7 BF tests online. Here are my results:

1. 25.7
2. 23.9
3. 19
4. 43.9
5. 32.7
6. 23.8
7. 10.7

At some point, i'm going to quit being cheap and buy a caliper-but for now i got a good laugh and i think i'm going to say i'm at 10.7% (because that one sounds the best, lmao)

It's one thing to own a caliper, it's another thing to have somebody know how to use it on you

Body fat scales are least accurate in the morning as you are dehydrated, leading to a high reading - similarly straight after strenuous exercise and the instructions on mine also said to wait a couple of hours after eating. Apparently, mid-afternoon would be most accurate.

However, if you use them consistently at the same time of day/day of week, they are consistent so will show progress.
  • Go with simple tape measurements, doesn't really matter what the number is but that you are heading down in the right direction.

First of all, i know how to use a caliper-thank you.

Secondly, i am trying to get below 17%, so yeah. not trying to lose weight anymore. THe tape measure kind of only charts muscle growth for me these days.

Really, i didnt mean this looking for advice. Geez.

haha yea - basically every measurement involving your body is a big estimate (BMR, calorie burn, body fat, etc....). It really makes trying to lose weight difficult.

You can use a skinfold caliper on yourself???

    You misread what I wrote...

And you misunderstood what i wrote. I know how to use one, and teaching someone else how to use one isn't quite like teaching someone to perfrom brain surgery.
