Just wanted to introduce myself to the community
Hello, my name is Elayne, and I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself to the community. I am on a journey to get healthy, lose weight, and get rid of all the body aches and pains in the process. I am 62 years old, and most of the time I feel 69. I don't like feeling this way. My fitness pal is the last resort, and I need to make this work for me.
I am looking to be a supportive addition to others, as I am also looking for the same support to get me through this. I know it didn't happen overnight, and it won't go away overnight either. This is a lifestyle change for me and not a get fixed now type of program. Thank you for reading my plea.

Hello and welcome!
I've been on MFP for a while now, 10+ years, weight loss then maintenance. I have to tell you: Weight loss significantly decreased frequency and severity of joint pain for me, plus just improved my overall sense of well-being. I'm not sure what the well-being part is from . . . maybe decreased systemic inflammation? Maybe from the psychology of accomplishing goals? I don't know, so I'm speculating, but no matter what, I like the improvement.
I have to admit, I'd say the pain improvement wasn't instant. I think I needed to lose a fair amount of weight, and let my body heal a bit from the stress my weight had been putting on it for many years, but as that happened, there were significant, noticeable improvements.
Here's a trick comment: I actually AM 69. 😉 In many ways, I feel better than I did at 59, when I was class 1 obese . . . and in some ways, better than I did at 45, when I went through cancer treatment, before I started getting more active with exercise. Gradually increasing exercise and losing weight both gave me quality of life improvements. I'm hoping one or the other or both will do the same for you!
MFP can work great for those whose preferences, personality and lifestyle it suits, and who are willing to use it, learn from experience (own and others'), and adjust their plans in a gradually more productive direction.
Wishing you success - it's more than worth the effort, or at least has been for me.
