Good morning/afternoon/evening!
One of the benefits of my job is free lunch! I can't eat the prepared foods, college cafeteria and all, but I manage to put together a pretty good lunch each day. The chia pudding is made with coconut milk, and is so yummy. I ended up not enjoying the squash thing, so I went back to the salad bar for fresh veggies. (I don't eat prepared/packaged lettuce, so I don't actually make a salad.) I did put together the bean thing using a vinaigrette. Super yummy!
I hope everyone has a great weekend! I have a long hike scheduled for tomorrow morning near Eugene.
Take care!

Kim - thinking of you, hope you are doing better every day.😊
Flea - your lunch looks delicious! I'd go for that in a heartbeat. Great benefit getting free lunch at your workplace. Enjoy your hike, hope you have great weather. I used to go to Eugene every year for sheep shows. Nice area.
Rita - for some reason, my laptop won't let me open the links you posted. You posted a link a few days ago that was also prefaced with "blob." It tried to open the link and then stopped, saying it was unsafe? Maybe my anti-virus is in overdrive. Sounds like you have been super busy. Hope the training went well and there will be more volunteers there to share the load.
Barbie - Annie did a great job protecting you from the vet and the chimney servicemen. 😉 She's a good pal to have around.
The HVAC guy is coming out Monday morning to do yearly service on the heat pump. Last year, I wasn't keeping good tabs on Rosie and she sneaked around and did her business in one of the bedrooms. 😣Never mind that she'd been out for a 15 minute adventure in the back yard just before he got here. From then on, I've kept the bedrooms blocked off - baby gates. It's partially a territory thing, little brat. When DH was alive, he'd hold her while I kept tabs on the service folks.
Speaking of Annie….
Annie - how's it going with your dad and your aunt & uncle across the street? Hope all is OK and you're just busy these days.
I decided to go for it and spot cleaned some areas of carpet with my little Bissell steam cleaner. So here it is, the weatherman has changed his tune about sunny in the low 80's with showers on the way, high humidity. 😁 I have fans running over the cleaned areas as I normally do to speed up drying.

Rough-ish morning turned into a reasonably good afternoon…
While I was playing floor Tetris, I had a fall, a stupid one (as so many are).
These tiles have sticky backs, covered by shiny paper until you peel it off to stick them down. I had left a carpet tile with the shiny paper side down, so I could compare colors… and it was right where I wanted to step… and that shiny paper is also quite slick.
The second my foot hit that tile and it moved, I knew I was in trouble. I began to do an involuntary split as it slid, but was able somehow to twist enough to keep from hyperextending that knee replacement too far, and got it bent slightly before I fell… but still overextended every muscle from my hip to my ankle on that right side. Also was able to keep that right shoulder safe as I fell, but somehow jammed my left index finger. Still don't know how.
Which makes for weird typing… but it could all have been so much worse. I fell on a pile of those same tiles, didn't hurt the impact side, just stretched all the other side painfully. Sat with some ice on… well everything, took a couple Aleve, took a pain pill, and chilled out for an hour.
Was able to get it back together, got in the shower, went and ran a couple errands. Back again, about to ice my knee (and my ankle and my hip and my finger) and chill (ha! literally) for the rest of the afternoon. Floor Tetris can wait 'til tomorrow.
Heather - Loved the first one, and parts of the second. Tell John to keep going, the best pics can be found in the small spaces and the chance happenings.
Time to go find those ice packs.

OOhh no Lisa! I bet you are mad at yourself. 😣 Let's hope the ouchies disappear quickly.
Hope I sleep better tonight. Last night was a short 3 hrs 30 mins. No reason. I just carried on reading my Maigret. I've read twenty plus now. Luckily, he was a very prolific writer! 😂
I got a guinea fowl in my Waitrose delivery. Going to slow roast it tomorrow, with carrots, onions, and parsnips. Brussel sprouts on the side. Tonight we had halloumi curry. Onions, garlic, red pepper, cherry tomatoes, and a huge, towering heap of spinach. Served with pilau rice and yoghurt. I think I'm getting enough veggies in! 😄

ooh no! So sorry you fell, no playing floor Tetris! Corey is gonna give you the what for, but maybe he'll just cook one of your favorite meals!
Yes, take a pain pill and chill like your sweet Egg.💖👍🏼🐈

well, the plan is to start riding at 3:30am and I should hopefully done early enough to go walk with the kids in the morning. This ride is going to take me longer because of the elevation that I will be climbing. It will be a long day.

dh said way back in January of 2020 that he thought that was the reason he didn't get Covid- he uses nasal spray daily.
He said there is also something about taking Metformin that helps too- he does that too.
He was the only one that didn't get it when we went up for Christmas. We didn't know that mom and dad both had it until a few hours after dad passed away from it(they went and got tested 12/29 and he passed away very early 12/30)Debbie

Go Pip!
Heather… exactly. That's the first time in a long time I was calling my own self an idiot. I. Know. Better. And I paid the price. Was lucky I didn't break or sprain anything. SMH.

Lisa: So sorry for your slip. Hope you heal up quickly and thoroughly.
Heather: love the dress. I have a similar pair of waterfall rhinestone earrings. How do gentlemen dress for formal cruise nights?
Beth: I can't wait to return to the Finger Lakes. Hope you can make the train trip. While there N and I sampled some lovely local cheeses. You and DH deserve a nice time out for yourselves.
Flea: Your lunch looks delish. What a great job perk.
Pip: You rock! Hope the ride goes well.
Machka: Hope you and DH are over the worst and feeling better everyday.
I love hearing everyone's travel plans and seeing the photos. I'm currently mapping out a fall foliage drive for when N gets here in late September. We'll probably be on the road 6-8 days. I have 2 stops planned, and we may just wing it the rest of the time.
I'm finally getting a bit more exercise in my day without it ending in a painful limp. Have been wearing a bulky Neenca knee brace for support and the ganglion cyst has shrunk enough that I have full movement of my hand and can put pressure on it without pain. My conditioning has suffered from 6 weeks in inactivity, but with baby steps it will come back. At least my clothes still fit and the scale has moved up only 3 pounds. We can do this! Stay well, friends.

After work went to the soup kitchen. Loaded nachos. Must have been hearty meal because we didn’t have many requests for seconds. Then stopped at CVS for a prescription for Vince. Then home in the pool, took Ganon for a walk. J&C are at a concert and tomorrow she’s going to a baby shower for a friend of hers. They’re going to spend the night somewhere (I have no idea where) and expect to be home Sunday afternoon.
M – I had a coughing bout and when I went to the MD he spoke of it being bronchitis. Gave me an antibiotic and cough suppressant, and it’s gone
Heather – I love that dress. Those earrings will look stunning with the dress
Veggies: I only like the frozen ones (or fresh) without any sauces, etc. I want to taste the vege, not the sauce.
Took Ganon for two walks, one the 2 mile one and the other the 1-1/2mile one.
Flea – you’re making me hungry!
Lisa – I’m so sorry you fell but glad you weren’t hurt badly
pip – riding at 3:30 in the AM???? When do you sleep?

that’s only for this MS Ride that is tomorrow in looking back at a 2019 ride stat, it took me about 4-1/2 hours to ride the 60 miles with that elevation. I figure if I start at 3:30, I should finish by 7:30-8 depending on how fast I ride. For that ride back then I did a 13.5 average miles per hour, again it was because of that elevation I was climbing. If I finish fast enough, I’ll be able to walk the kids with Kirby when he wakes up.
Right now it’s 6:45pm, so I’m going to bed while Kirby watches his movie so I can have plenty of sleep.
wish me luck!10 -
The first time I was there was in late 2004, before the collapse of one of the apostles. And when we lived in Victoria, we'd go to that area a couple times a year.
But we haven't been there in a long time.
Since then, they've built up the area quite a bit and you can now see more apostles that were hiding around the corner.
And yes, I did go out on the bit of the viewing platform that's just hanging over the ocean.
We also went on the big ferris wheel at Geelong - it was my husband's first time on a big ferris wheel!

A little bit about ads on Facebook … you have a certain degree of control over what shows up.
Go to Settings and Privacy under your little icon in the top right corner of your FB page. At this point, you can go into Content Preferences and make some adjustments there if you like, or just remember where it is and deal with the ads first.
For the ads, click on Settings.
There are a lot of things on that page which you'll probably want to go through so that you have a more applicable and pleasant FB experience. And those things will change. FB changes stuff every few months.
At the moment, however, look for your Account Centre.
Mine is in the left sidebar. You can open the whole Account Centre then find Ad preferences in the left sidebar, or just click on Ad preferences here.
In Ad preferences, I recommend going through everything — all the Customise ads stuff and all the Manage info stuff.
It's a time-consuming pain in the butt!
And when you repeat this process once or twice a year, the Ad preferences location will likely be different. FB likes to move stuff.
But once done, it should clean up some of the stuff you don't really want to see.
A tip … leave a few categories. FB will show you ads and if you choose a few "nice" categories it'll show you those. I go with things like garden and travel. I'll never order anything through a FB ad but if they want to show me pretty pictures of flowers or beaches or something, that's OK.
Anyway, I hope this helps.
At the very least, if you just have a look, it'll give you an idea of who might have your information and what impression of yourself you're putting out online. And you can adjust that if you want.
As I said in a previous post this month, always check out the settings in whatever software/app you use. The default might be OK, but chances are you can improve your experience with whatever software/app you use.
Incidentally, I've turned on dark mode in FB. Easier on the eyes. That's why my examples have a black background. 😊

Just bought these. I can return them to M&S if they don't fit. I think they might go with my dress, but certainly will with almost all my other clothes. They have a soft inner sole.
I really hope they are comfortable. I have so few shoes and I am nearly always in trainers.

Good morning!
Pip- I am cheering you on! You really are an inspiration!
One more sleep....a few items to do today. Cant check in until 4, so plenty of time in the am. Thank goodness for lists. Fuel in two vehicles today. Stop at one store. Of course ....work first. I am almost to a setup for success place. That is my job. Unfortunately a few items are going with me, but robe, porch, mountain views... is it really work then? I do get plenty of walking and eat pretty well so maybe I will lose a pound or two-haha!
Healing thoughts continue! It is a good thing we aren't weak old ladies as we tend to be really hard on our bodies!
Love the pictures and travels.
Much love,

Pip - Good luck with the ride!
In Arizona with family for quick trip-head back Monday. House got listed yesterday at noon and went under contract a few hours later. Minimal inspections. Closing should happen October 6. Happy to check this off my list!
Medical:
Have surgery for back scheduled for November 13. Waiting longer than I wanted but it may get bumped up due to cancellations, etc. At least I am on list. I am going ahead and trying physical therapy. Not expecting it to do a whole lot at this stage, but will establish I tried. The surgery date gives me a great goal to have the rest of things in apartment sorted and put away. Won’t get pictures scanned so they will be sitting around. Hope to have them in stage where I can sit and sort. Looking forward to daily pain being resolved.
Enjoying visit. Grand children are growing so fast. DGD is 12 and getting into the preteen stuff. DGS at 8 is tons of energy and very sharp. Their parents are doing a good job raising them.
Take care all,
Ginny-currently enjoying the Valley of the Sun.

Pip - Much luck with the ride - you should just be finishing up as I write this. Hope you were able to accomplish what you set out to do!
Ginny - Hope the back surgery is a resolution for the daily pain. It wears, that kind of ongoing pain. Is the new mattress helping at all?
Allie - Delia really is a big girl, in every way!
Kylia - Enjoy your vacation!
Rori - Hope your ouchies fade and you start feeling better soon!
I went back to my floor Tetris this morning, under the "get right back on the house that threw you" maxim. Yes, I know it's "horse," but I couldn't resist… 😂🥰 I was much more careful with where and how I stepped, and it was a more successful outcome. I am only a little ouchy this morning, and I think it was a definite wakeup call, with a very lucky outcome.
Also got a written piece edited and published for the first time in more than a week. Felt good.
Not sure what Cor's plans are for today, but I think, after a long break, I will go back to the spare bedroom and start cutting and sticking down these carpet tiles. I tried to place them all in a way to have the fewest cuts possible, but it's impossible to have none at all… The sooner that's done, the sooner we can get to the trim, which will be the final piece of the puzzle, and then we can put the doors back on and move the bed out of the room where I keep my elliptical.
Just an Egg report. About the time I stopped whining yesterday, Corey called for his lunchtime call. Egg came up on my lap purring as she made her way up, and laid directly on my right hip and across my stomach. She often shows up when I'm talking to him, and usually makes her merry way elsewhere after I'm done talking. Not sure why… But even after I hung up with the call, she wouldn't leave. So the two of us just stayed there awhile. Sure enough, the ouchiest place this morning isn't the knee that I was afraid I had wrecked, but the inside muscles along my hip line. Not quite a groin pull, above that area and right in that crease along the line my underwear runs.
She's a good Egg.
Later, my babies, hope it's a lovely weekend for us all,
Love,
Lisa in AR7 -
Well, my 60 miles is done! Started riding at 3:20am and finished at 7am. It just so happens that’s when the ride over there at Mt Vernon begins!

Pip ~ Good luck on your ride! You are so much to be admired for doing this for a good cause.
Kylia ~ Hope you enjoy every moment of your vacation as you certainly deserve it.
Ginny ~ It must feel wonderful to have had your house under contract so quickly. Enjoy your stay with family and good luck on the upcoming surgery.
Heather ~ I like the black dress and the silver shoes. They will look great together.
Lisa ~ Sorry about your fall. I have gotten a bit scared of falling down our basement stairs carrying groceries and trash.
Lanette and Barbie ~ You both are so lucky to have your protective dogs.
Several have asked about my husband and all I can say is that the dr’s are very worried about his heart, lung, and kidney conditions. Heart not pumping well enough and some problem with spitting up tiny bits of blood when coughing. He has 6 appointments for various reasons this month. I pray that they will help him get well.
As for myself, I did have an MRI on my back and have some degeneration and a bulging disk. I will have an epidural at the end of the month and hope that clears up some of the pain for hopefully weeks and sometimes months.

Carol - you seem to be going through a very hard time for both of you. So sorry.
Ginny - That's fantastic news about your old house! When I sold my London flat, that's how it was, first day, with people trying to gazump. Other sales were far more complicated and protracted. Good luck with the back surgery!

Today is a bit of a repeat food wise from yesterday. Some days are like that.
Lunch is a spam/egg musubi, and dinner is 2 oz of lite kielbasa sausage sauted with some fresh spinach, and mixed in with my roasted red potatoes and green beans in a nice garlic parmesan sauce. I will have cottage cheese on the side. Snack is an Oikos triple zero vanilla yogurt. Getting in 99 grams of protein, and 81 oz of liquids. My sugar intake today is 25 grams (I am set at no more than 69 g). My sodium intake is 2,094 which is still within my allowance of 2300 daily. Lord knows why I get a kick out of these numbers but I do. In the scheme of things its not important, but the numbers are like my operating manual, if my weight loss journey was like a car. One of these years I will be able to just get in the dang car and drive, without looking at how.🙃🙄😂

Pip - great job, very proud of you! How's your brother with cancer doing? Is he undergoing treatment now?
Rori - glad the knee and wrist are seeing some improvement. How exciting N will be back in just a few weeks! 😍
Lisa - you are an energizer bunny. You took a licking and kept on ticking today. Love that Dr. Egg gave you some extra kitty time. 😁 Your description of the slip sent shivers down my spine - I've had a few close calls slipping on ice like that. Makes me queasy.
Ginny - things are falling into place quickly for you. Glad the house is sold and that you are taking some time to visit family in AZ. Hope the back surgery gives you much needed relief.
Carol - so sorry to hear about your DH's health problems. Hope the doc appointments are fruitful and they can figure out what's going on and fix it. So worrisome. And crossing fingers the epidural gives you some relief from your back pain. Our spines don't do well with this getting older business.
Rebecca - your eating plan for today sounds yummy.
Dreamland - I had a dream early this morning that I actually remember and it woke me up so I stayed up. I dreamt I was supposed to drive an 18-wheeler someplace. I got into the tractor cab and there were several shift knobs and complicated gears so I wasn't sure how to shift it. I did manage to get it into low range and move it a few feet then figured I'd better get some expert help. So I went looking, and wasn't able to find anyone. What comes to mind is…. am I looking for someone to help me going through a shift in my life?
Maybe part of this is - T's FIL is in hospice and probably isn't going to last more than a day or two. I've been thinking about my DH's final couple days. So my life certainly shifted then. But now??
Dream analyzers, give it a go. 😁
It's overcast, cool and rainy here today. I'm going to make a batch of meatballs shortly and roast a big sweet potato. That will take care of suppers for several days.

Lanette ~ Dreams can be strange and upsetting! I'm sorry yours upset you.
I got upset at the Kroger grocery store this morning. I took some of the coupons they give out and felt very frustrated that they were out of some of the things I planned to purchase. Then, when I got up to the young cashier, he tried to say that several of the things I had coupons for were not acceptable. I had to reread the coupon and convince him that YES they were. He conceded and gave me my discount. The whole experience made me want to cry.

Oh, I'm sorry the grocery store guy upset you, but you stuck to your guns and he gave you the discount! Be proud of yourself for that fact💖👍🏼. I'd mention to the manager, that your coupon experience was more hectic than necessary! Sadly that exact thing is why I never mess with coupons. Usually the item, even with the coupon, is more expensive than the commissary house brand "Freedoms Choice" so I have decided to not even participate in the coupon scene. Its really a way for the grocery store mongrels to get you to buy the more popular brand in my opinion.🙄🙃
Big hugs from Whidbey
