Great runs everyone! Didn't want to post individual comments as I've been offline too long but went through & liked my way through!
@Zaxa2021, my first 5K run outside was my first 5K run outside.
All previous runs were on a treadmill. You'll be fine. Those smokey skies @WarmJellyfish! do a real number on your breathing (ask me how I know!). Hope it clears out soon.
It's funny @quilteryoyo, seeing your comments about your yard sale, I've been debating if I should rent a table with a local church that is holding a yard sale. I'm still debating….Posting 4 days, more lengthy info in spoiler.
Sept:01/09 - 8.08km / 5.02 miles - Summer Shores 8K race
02/09 - 0km Rest day
03/09 - 6.21km / 3.86 miles
04/09 - 0km
05/09 - 0km
06/09 - 9.14km / 5.68 miles
07/09 - 5.09km / 3.16 miles - Yorkville 5K race
Total = 14.29km / 8.88 miles (Goal - 161Km / 100 miles)Thurs & part of Fri I was waylaid by nerve pain & a migraine. No running for me, though I did walk 11km on Friday after I decided I needed some fresh air.
Sat's run was an easy 9K to loosen up my legs.Today's run was the Yorkville 5K race in Toronto.
Great weather (10⁰-13⁰ C / 50⁰ - 55⁰ F), partly sunny, cool breeze). One of my favourite 5K races in the city as it's an fairly flat 5K, it raises money for around 100 local charities, gets a fairly large runner turnout (1,200 I heard this morning), and has a ton of sponsors.
Most races give you a t-shirt & medal, this one - at the race kit pickup →T-shirt, baseball cap, socks, huge tote bag, free coffee, magazines, etc. After the race, medal, tote bag, and so many samples & full size free products that I stopped taking things after my tote bag got to heavy to carry.
From a run standpoint - I didn't do great but I did okay (was about 2 mins+ on my best time on this race) & yet I was still pretty happy with this result, as after this past week I really expected to do much worse🤷♂️.
I did need to walk 3 times to try to alleviate nerve pain, which of course affected my results, though I kept the last 2 times walking as short as I could.
After one walking session & massaging my thigh to try to offset the pain, I started running again & looked up just in time to see a photographer focusing right on me. After some pics, he gave me a thumbs up as I ran by. I really hope he didn't get a pic of the pain on my face, though I'm pretty sure the 'thumbs up' was a 'that's a good pain pic'. lol📸
Ended up finishing the race 3rd in my division (way further back from #2 than I should've been) & in the top 22% overall (normally I'd hit the top 15%)🤷♂️.
@micukica, so this wasn't my worst 5K result, but I think it was the worst on this particular 5K race!4 -

It was really pleasant at 65°F this morning. I ran 12 miles. That was my longest run since May. It is just too hard for me to run that far in the heat. It was nice to get some distance in and not feel like I was dying at the end.
Congrats on your 5K @John772016 especially after not feeling well.
Way to go on your 12 mile TM run @Zaxa2021! That is impressive.

I'm like @John772016 and read all the posts, but not commenting on all individually, as I missed a couple of days. You all did great!
Enjoy your trip @chris_in_cal .
@Zaxa2021 I'm very impressed with 12 miles on the treadmill! Glad the guy gave you the motivation you needed to keep going.
@Scott6255 I hope your calf is okay. You've had enough injuries lately!
Thank you and great run @Teresa502 !
Sounds like you did great on your run @WarmJellyfish . That's a long time on your feet/legs…and in the haze of smoke too.
@John772016 So sorry that you had the nerve pain and migraine. It sounds like you did good on your 5k, esp. with all things considered. If you get a good "pain" picture, you'll have to share it with us. If you decide to sign up for the yard sale, I hope you have fun.
Great long run @kgirlhart .
Beautiful @AlphaHowls

I didn't post yesterday as we did the yard sale all day again and then had to dodge the rain to get everything we didn't sale out of mom's barn and back where it belonged. We were really disappointed yesterday. Friday, we had a steady stream of people coming by. Yesterday, maybe 4 stopped and 2 of them were friends who were just stopping by mostly to chat. We have no idea what the difference was from the day before. @John772016 , if you decide to yard sale, you'll probably have a lot of people since it sounded like you would be with a group of other people who are setting up. It's more difficult to "compete" with groups as a single family set up and the rain (it did threaten rain all day). But, we still had fun visiting with my neighbor's and just spending time together. All together we were pleased as we make $162 and got rid of some stuff.
Today, I did my normal Sunday, Rest Day walk.

Happy Monday folks!
I just didn't feel like logging in on Friday. I did my workout but I was in in a mood and didn't want to get online. I think the back to back workouts on Tues and Wed really whooped me too…I had a bit of sciatica after.
This weekened we chose to couch rot but did go out for a 3.2 mile walk in the park.
Still doing good on the calorie tracking. We skipped Sunday and went to a pizza buffet, spooler, it wasn't worth it. We agreed we were happier with just ording a pizza.
Busy week with probably eating out at least once, maybe twice for dinner.
Have a great one!

Good morning from Virginia! It was a cool 47F for this morning's run. After I warmed up, I did some hill repeats. I ran a total of 4 miles. Beautiful morning as the moon was shining brightly and there were so many stars visible in the sky. Then the horizon started getting an orange glow and the sun was up. This is one reason why early mornings are my favorite time to run.
Congratulations our your 5Kplacement @John772016 ! I love getting free swag at a race!

Great running all.
Yesterday was supposed to be a longer 10k recovery session but the left foot said nope from the day before. The arthritis is back. Cut it in half and shuffled my way through it. Now I know how slow I can go 🤣, should make the cut-offs hopefully. Just have to avoid aggravating anything. Need to work on the diet still, gotta get a bunch of weight off soon.
@John772016 yes about the♨️. Nice race.

Hmpf.. found out today that the gym I bought four sessions at is closed. That's annoying. Ok, I'm on vacation, I'm not getting annoyed. Ommmm… Walked over a small island yesterday. Rather sandy ground and humid weather. Had a nice swim in a very wavy and cold Atlantic though. Managed to run to 5km today with a new highest elevation gain. Still had to walk more than previously, which, to be honest, is not surprising. Still I'm running :)

Btw, this is my summer vacation. Instead of chilling I do something every day 🙃
Anyway, I swam here yesterday
and saw some very nice columnar basalts forming arches

It wasn't as nice here @Teresa502 , but it was 65° and it was pretty pleasant. I ran 6 miles. The moon was really bright and it was a really nice morning. There were lots of loose dogs today. None of them gave me any trouble, but I did reroute a couple of times to avoid them.

I’m here. Busy! I’ve read all the posts but haven’t found time to comment.
5km today, plus gardening - spring has sprung so I need to get on top of the weeds while they’re still small.
prevented these small floofs from swimming in the pool today - mans is too big to fit under the fence so was most distressed, as she should be. Once the ducklings are in the pool, they can’t get out. I’ve already had to fish one out with the net a few days ago - and boy are they hard to catch. For something so tiny they can swim very fast.

Hmm.. Garmin has a badge for a 10km run next weekend. I barely made 5km with lots of walking. Would you count, for yourself an attempt at 10km with all the elevation here? I'd probably have to walk close to half of it, and even walking uphill is very strenuous for me. On the other hand I feel like I want to try.

Morning all.
5.5M again - 10'40 pace. Just ploughing along over here

Well, I thought I could do a slow run to get my calf back into shape. It just felt like a small knot as I started, but just kept getting bigger. Stopped at 0.66 miles. Guess I need to rest it a few more days.
5 -
I ran 5 miles with the girls this morning. It was 48F and the moon was shining brightly. We ran in the city though so I couldn't really see the stars. I'm sure they were up there though!
@Scott6255 sorry the calf is still not 100%
@yirara What a beautiful vacation spot! Thanks for sharing the photos. I think you should go for the Garmin 10K badge. It sounds like you want it and you never know until you try!
@ContraryMaryMary - so glad you could save the little ones and reunite them with mama. I bet she was squaking loudly at them!
@kgirlhart - I've made it to Day 3 of that yogalates challenge! The rate I'm going, it will be the end of the year before I finish the 30 days.
Great running everyone!

Another tentative interval. 500m at 26s/km faster than 5k pace. Then 500m at 10k pace. x3.

63 of 225kms so far. Recovery walk yesterday. Sleep was crap last night so garmin changed the threshold session into a short recovery one. Nah, I'm going to do a longer fartlek instead, sorta miss doing intervals. HRV status has been dropping like a stone and RHR is going up. Good thing taper starts in a couple of weeks.
@yirara nice photos! Go for the 10k. I walk a lot too.
@ContraryMaryMary duckies! Good you got them back together.
3 -
Great running @tarun_yadavA , @Teresa502 , @kgirlhart , and @username301
@CMorning99 Great job on logging calories! Sometimes, I got in those moods too. I hope you have a great week.
Sorry your arthritis is giving you issues @WarmJellyfish . I think a few of us are working on getting rid of some excess weight, me included.
Sorry about the gym being closed @yirara . Was is just for the day or permanently? You did great getting in the walks and run. Sounds wonderful. That's a beautiful beach. You could probably do the 10K. Just take it easy and walk as much as you want/need to.
Those ducklings are so cute @ContraryMaryMary . I'm glad you were able to keep them out of the pool. Sounds like you are staying busy and getting in plenty of exercise.
Sorry about your calf @Scott6255 . I hope rest makes it better quickly.

Happy running everyone
Yesterday i switched up garmin's chamged recovery into an intervals. Wheezed more than i'd like. Ran out of air. It was a bit hazy so that was probably a factor given my crappy lungs. Need to learn the art of huffing .

I saved my report as a draft yesterday. But didn't post it. So here is yesterday's report:
I ran 6 miles this morning. The temperature was the same as yesterday, but the dew point was 53° compared to 63° yesterday and the humidity was lower, so it was much nicer. It was nice yesterday, but today was even better. I didn't see any loose dogs today, just some cats, and a little cottontail rabbit.
And here is today's report:
I ran a 6.5 mile tempo run today. The weather was wonderful again. I felt good about hitting the paces. I saw a couple of skunks today. They were running across the road and both had their tail straight up. I think one was chasing the other.

Hey, look at this! That went quite well indeed. Advantage this run compared to the last: strong wind from behind up the biggest incline. I also walked less than with the previous run. Thus maybe I will manage to somehow run/walk 10km after all. Though this was 2 rounds plus a but. For 10km I'll need to do 4 rounds up the big incline and through the village.5 -
You do great @tarun_yadavA, @ContraryMaryMary , @Zaxa2021 ,
Sorry you have such a hard time @WarmJellyfish but you are an inspiration as you keep going.
Great running @kgirlhart . Sounds like skunk love. 🤣 Reminds me of the Pepe' Le Pew cartoon. Did you ever see that?
You're doing great. I'm sure you can make the 10K. You may have to walk more than you want, but you can do it @yirara .

A third of the way through the month & I remain on plan. Today's easy run felt a bit harder than last week, probably because i did it post work.

I think you decide on how you can run that 10K badge @yirara but I'd say yes & try it.

10/09 - 10.77km / 6.69 milesTotal = 39.29km / 24.41 miles (Goal - 161Km / 100 miles)
(Finally remembered to update my totals!)
Garmin wanted me to do sprint intervals today, my legs didn't agree. Instead I scattered in several short walks which seemed to help a bit. Pretty nice weather for a run, couldn't get out until after lunch but still really comfortable weather, especially on the recreation trail portion of my run that went through the ravine.5
