What a wonderful achievement, Pip!
My guinea fowl was lovely, but I remember why I so rarely do a roast dinner! Getting all the veg, potatoes, gravy, ready at the same moment is a challenge.
Also I had gone six and a half hours since lunch, and had a very, very small aperitif before dinner. While serving I went all hypo, and John had to finish off the serving. I recovered quickly once I had food inside me. I've always had this problem if I go too long without food. People think I'm weird when I say I absolutely have to eat at a certain time, but it's not just a weird whim, it's a real condition. Quite scary.

found out it is prostate cancer. He was given 2 options as how to proceed, he hasn’t let us know his decision. He found that the cancer hasn’t spread to any other part of his body so that’s good news. Thanks for asking.

😁 Pip, Bravo on your ride. Getting up early was a great idea.
❤️ Carol, sending hugs to you and your husband for all your health challenges.
😀 Ginny, great news about your upcoming house sale and surgery. Busy days ahead.
❤️ Allie, I hope you feel better soon.
😀 Heather, I can't go too long between feedings. I could never survive on the intermittent fasting that so many people do. I have my meals and snacks carefully timed.
😀 I started thinning my fancy front yard iris patch so I could give some to two friends. I'll finish pulling the rest of the them another day and then keep them separate from the ordinary ones in two other patches. One of the many great things about iris is that don't have to be planted deep so they are easy to pull up and replant.
🎵 I started making plans today with a line dancer in my neighbourhood for a line dance session for the two of us at the clubhouse.

I love iris but dont have any planted here.
My great grandmother raised and hybridized them many years ago then my cousin and his wife moved in and did even more. He has passed away but his wife continues to do it and is also a judge all over the world at iris shows.https://wiki.irises.org/Main/Bio/HybridizerCaddAnnaDavid

Pip - Yay for you. You have so much dedication.
Ginny - Congrats on the move and house sale. Good luck with the surgery.
Allie - Hope you are feeling better soon.
Got some yardwork done today. It rained for about 5 minutes here. DGS is working on orientation for his new job. He starts the actual job on Tuesday. Having a third person here all the time is going to take some getting used to. We are in the process of getting everyone's schedule to mesh. It will work out eventually.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA

Look who accompanied me on my 3 mile Sunday walk this morning.
He hates a break in his routine, so it was a nice gesture from him to come with me. He even sat when I sat, which he doesn't do normally. These small shared moments are important.
On the way home we stopped to buy artisan bread. I'm trying to avoid packaged bread with all the additives. John does buy it occasionally, but I'm trying, tactfully, to discourage him.
Tonight we are having the remaining guinea fowl with Pommes Dauphinoise, and tenderstem broccoli. I'll be mashing up avocado for lunch, as we seem to have acquired four.
Love to all, especially Allie.

Just checking in. Not sure what's happening with me. Missing reading here! You all are my inspiration for the day and make me feel like I'm not alone. Thank you all! Love ya! 😍

Carol - if the teleporter was working, I'd have zipped down to be with you at Kroger's and the clerk would have gotten a lesson in coupons and customer service. Then we'd have gone out for a cup of coffee. Or two.😉
Debbie - did your fridge get repaired?
Barbie - a line dancing session in the clubhouse sounds neat.
Heather - so nice of John to walk with you. I always felt safer when my DH would walk with me - not that my neighborhood is dangerous. Fun to chat with him along the way too.
Sue - is DGS going to be living in the cabin? Might be neat to have another pair of arms to help with the farm when needed in case your DD is out of town.😉
Reminder- tomorrow is Weekly Check-In for those participating. 😍
Have another batch of applesauce in the crockpot. My freezer will be loaded to the gills. The freezer will have to be shoved out of the way - just a foot or two - tomorrow morning so the heat pump service guy can get to the inside unit. Will be glad to have the service completed for this year.

thanks for the reminder- checked in- not the number I was hoping for but not giving up.
No, the fridge isn't fixed but it is better than it was. The freezer is still working half the time but not the rest- dh thinks now maybe it is the ice maker that isn't working right- makes ice then defrosts/melts then makes more. At least the fridge part is staying cold.

Carol, when I have lots of coupons at Kroger, I always look for a “seasoned” cashier. They will usually make it work. I love the Kroger coupons, but sometimes they are picky. My mistake is usually mixing up Simple Truth Organic and Kroger Private Selection. I think those coupons ought to be interchangeable. They are both Kroger brands! There for a while, I thought they had quit sending out the paper coupons in favor of the digital ones, but we have gotten two batches recently. I hate to not use them, because they tailor them to our past purchases.

My latest painting project. I always forget to take a full before pic. It cas from a local estate sale for $1.00. They were rusty and off white. Kirby made a pole for one that was missing. Came out pretty good.

😀 Carol, you are seriously stressed right now with your concerns about your health and your husband's health. I know that when I am stressed or afraid it doesn't take much to upset me. That incident with the coupons looked a lot bigger to you under current circumstances than it would have if you had been your usual calm and competent self. Be kind to yourself and do what you can to simplify the rest of your life.

Did the Firm Express Cardio DVD then part of the Ultimate Power Yoga DVD.
Got an email from Bryan. I’d sent birthday wishes to Leo. Really, the ONLY time he communicates with us is when we initiate it. Seems he moved to France (he did tell me the city, not the address tho). Mentioned that it would be nice to Facetime (yes it would) but at this point, he has to be the one to initiate it. I’ve done it too too many times. Said he was working ton Leo’s birthday, but please don’t ask me what he was working at because I have no idea.
Pretty sad, so I think I may go wash and wax my car to try to get over this.
Jess is supposed to be here this afternoon. Made coleslaw (hey, cabbage was on sale!) and I’m thinking we’ll just have hamburgers since I’m not sure what time they’ll get here. First I’ll let Ganon out for a pee break. Update: they stopped for bbq so they just had the coleslaw. We'll have the hamburgers another night.
Pip – I especially like the waterfall
Took Ganon for a short walk (just 1-1/2 mile).
J&C came home and are in the hot tub right now. They said they needed to de-stress after the weekend. I’m just glad they are enjoying themselves.

Today I was able to video chat with youngest sailor son. He had a GI appt last Thursday and he was notified afterwards that his colonoscopy was cancelled because his stool biopsy showed he has inflammation called C Diff. He has medication to handle it. I feel so bad for him, and all he has to deal with. He's just happy his colonoscopy is cancelled!

This afternoon I fixed a top round roast, with an onion, baby potatoes and baby carrots. I had to fry up bacon to get some bacon drippings so I could brown the sides of the roast with seasonings. I put the roast halves into Pyrex roasting containers with the veggies and "Better Than Bullion" broth that I added to the pot I browned the meat it. It turned out amazing and I had 4 oz of the meat, 3 potatoes, 5 carrots and the onion bits. I am so stuffed but still have some yogurt and a granola protein bar to eat to at least get in my 1000+ calories today. Phew!

Good news, the Teaching Vet Hospital called and have an opening Sept 18 with possible surgery the next day. Much better than Oct 2/3. Bad news is that US 101 will be closed entirely from 7pm Sept 19 through late night Sept 21. So unless they release her before 3pm Friday, we’ll be taking the looong way ‘round through Grants Pass.
More good news, we hiked down to the cistern this morning before church and it’s holding steady at 6ft of water. Real, measurable rain is in forecast for Monday/Tuesday so we are much relieved. Dogs had a blast getting all foresty and muddy. I enjoyed being able to take a real shower and wash my hair. ;)
Mo alas, my haircutting is not skillful, but Joe is content to have it off his neck ;}
Heather, Edie looks so very grown up. I remember when Max made that transition, his appearance seemed to change overnight too. Love the earrings. The dress too but I shudder at the thought of exposing my arms. And not wearing a bra? The girls would sag all the way to the nonexistent waist. Love the silver ankle boots! Really love the pic of Johnny. “These small shared moments are important.” Truer words. . .
Machka sorry to hear about the mystery plague. Lots of folk here sick, mostly Covid and RSV but always some mystery… Loyalty cards, I resent them but can’t pass up the savings. Recent Fred Meyer grocery bill went from $120+ to $80+ thanks to the rewards card, and then there’s the 10-40 cents off per gallon for shopping on Friday…
I’m so with you about pink chicken, gristle and veins. Urk! You weren’t kidding about the time consuming PITA for going through FB ad preferences. Sheesh!
Carla thank you for your Special Ed service both in the classroom and in securing funding/reimbursement.
Allie belated best birthday to Sean. Good for you for telling him to get the paperwork in for Medicaid. Delia is a charmer. Hope they get the DC referral fixed soon!
Lisa you are so right about Cesar Millan and at which end of the leash the problem usually is… ;} Joe told me this morning (before tea!) that the light over the kitchen sink went out… then many many minutes later came back on all by itself. He’s concerned there may be a short in the wiring, so he’ll call the electrician Monday. Just one thing after the other… OWW. Hope all those poor over-extended muscles can relax back into place with little pain. ((hugs)) “The house that threw you” LOL!
Lanette alas the sciatica while less is not gone. Started knee pt again, just 5 minutes, baby steps. Really need to get strong for Tumble’s trip to Corvallis.
Beth this is my go-to for chicken breasts.
Kay I tried searching FB for you with that common surname as your middle, but tired of scrolling down through pages and pages. Then I had the inspiration of searching for Kay [surname] [space] A and up you popped! Friend request sent. (ps love your profile pic)
Michele, I don’t understand, why can’t you use the ladies’ locker room?
Kylia hope the heart Dr. visit went well.
Barbie smart vet! And I’m GLAD Annie wants to protect you. ;} Wish I could join you and your friend line dancing at the club house. Our classes are suspended for the entire month. Trying to think positively, that a month off will give the sciatica time to heal.
Rita, welcome back!
Pip Bravissima!
Flea that lunch looks yummy!
Rori yes to baby steps, and Brava for keeping the damage down to up 3 lbs.
Ginny house under contract only hours after listing? VERY well done! Fingers X’d for a much sooner opening for surgery. Cancellations DO happen.
Carol prayer said for your DH and for you. ((gentle hugs held extra extra long)) Our Freddie’s (local Kroger) is often out of items when the coupon savings are big, and the checkers do have to scrutinize coupons carefully when the computer rejects them, but he should have been more respectful. Glad he finally gave you what was right.
Rebecca “grocery store mongrels” so apt. Your GS is two already ??? How did that happen? So sorry about your youngest’s c difficile. Hope the medication works and FAST.
Sue your DGS moved in with you and DD? It will be an adjustment, hope the extra hands are more help than hindrance … ;)
Debbie I am so sorry to hear your fridge is s till on the blink. Must be maddening!
Later, lighter, lovelies!

It’s been days since I’ve been able to read enough to get caught up.
My weeks have gotten busier it seems. I had ceramics Thursday night, met with the ladies from my previous job Friday night, the boss is at it again with someone else this time. I worry about a couple more being her target soon too.
I don’t know how she continues.Lisa - you were so fortunate not to injure yourself more in that fall. Icing and relaxing probably helped a lot.
Ginny - that was a quick sale! It will be so nice to have that finished.
Pip - congratulations on a successful ride.
Carol - Do you have to store groceries and trash in the basement? I hope you get some relief and that your DH has positive results.
Heather - it looks like a nice walk with John. I keep trying to do things to get Rodger and I out together but it’s a tough battle.
Today the grands are supposed to come and we are going to a sunflower field to take pictures. Just my phone camera not a professional photographer.
I just want some pictures of them for my NB trip.Loyalty cards - I think if companies didn’t have these to they could actually just have sales for everyone and maybe lower prices overall.
Barbara - it sounds like good news about the vet school. That’s not long at all now.
Kylia - I took a deep breath just looking at your photo of the view. Enjoy!
I took the Grands for a small photo shoot today, just with my phone. It was a fun drive. Jonah was excited that we went off road with the new car. It handled like a dream driving through a plowed, swathed canola field.
I mentioned to Rodg the other night that would like to drive across Canada next summer. He doesn’t like the idea.
I feel we could do it easily in this car. He has no interest in doing it with me. Tonight when I mentioned that maybe just the kids and I would go he told me that he would prefer Lauryn go too. He then said he really didn’t want me to do it either as he would worry for a week while I was on the road. I without even thinking said, “I’m driving across Canada before I die and I would rather not wait for you to die to do it.” He looked at me with a shocked look and said, “so I’m holding you back.”
I said no, but I also don’t want to cause you to worry. 🤷♀️
I think that’s always one of our issues we want completely different things these days.Tracey in Edmonton
