way to go! I’d lost about 25 by the time I discovered MFP.

Weighing, logging to my food diary were critical in my own loss.

A fitness tracker will give you a wake up call as to how many calories you burn during a walk or other workout, as well as how many steps you’re getting a day.

it’s not necessary to work out to lose weight. 70% or more of it is simply reeling in eating habits. Exercise “buys” you a few calories back, plus is great for your health and mental state.

We had a user here who started out setting a goal to walk to her mailbox, then the first telephone pole, then the neighbors mailbox. Every few days she added a new landmark, a few more feet. Within two or three months she was walking a mile, when before she’d been pretty much immobile. You don’t have to kill yourself. Simply set reasonable goals.

And you asked us to wish you luck? One thing I’ve learned here, there is no “luck” in weight loss. Just hard graft and learning habits, like that weighing and logging. But- and you’ll be amazed- once you’re over that hump, it’s actually easy. Just expect your weight loss graph to look like a saw blade- lots of little ups followed by slightly bigger downs. It’s not a freefall. That’s what frustrates some people.

and break it into chunks. Set micro goals. You’ve already lost 12.5% of your final goal. Lose another 25 and you a quarter of the way there.

Breaking it into micro goals and giving yourself non-food goals along the way worked for me.

I treated myself to foot massages (all the walking while still obese meant my feet hurt a lot!) and exercise gear (colorful - usually sale or clearance- leggings!) every five pounds.
