Kylia, I am right there with you on microwaves. We use our stove & oven occasionally but we always use our microwave.

Are the black bears dangerous there? The ones in the Canadian Rockies would usually leave people alone unless they had food.

Kylia I use a steamer instead of a microwave because ours was always on the counter and I use the counter space for other things like my yogurt maker. I did put the microwave in the basement, so if I decide I need it for something I have it. The steamer I use is an insert that fits over a three quart pan. I like it because I can boil something in the bottom and steam something on top like my veggies. I just like the taste better cooked this way versus a microwave.

Neighbor's DH was quite frail for the past year so although never easy it was not a sudden death. Still it does give me pause because of his age.

Mo The birthday celebration was for my cousin. She took me to this restaurant for my birthday last year. We are about the same age.

Watched a you tube video last night about how medications, supplements, hydration, and what you eat and when you eat can effect results from a blood draw. If something is really off it might be worth having another draw to confirm it

Still learning more about oxalate in what is considered healthy food choices like beets, spinach, rhubarb, almonds, chocolate…I am making small adjustments to my diet with this in mind. I substituted arugula for spinach for quite some time. I will have small amounts of spinach if it is in a dish when I eat out. It is better if it is fresh versus cooked. Too much oxalate in the diet can contribute to kidney stones and joint pain. I have had some planter fascitis that may be related to too much oxalate. I am cutting back on dark chocolate. I learned it is best not to go cold turkey but to gradually reduce oxalate in your diet. I do have dairy in my diet that helps but learned it will buffer the oxalate but will reduce the available calcium to your bones and muscles. This might be part of my leg cramping problem. Healthy muscles help to create healthy bones.

I also learned having calf muscles over 33 cm for women is important for overall strength in walking and standing. My is 37 cm. This is my opinion and I don't have a source to quote it. I think it is just common sense that having strong core muscles helps with balance and breathing which keeps you strong as you age.

I am trying to find my info without googling because it seems to always go to AI now. The problem for AI for me is my Malware bites warns me there are many threats in AI. So I am going to more trusted sites and groups I am already part of like this one to get info.

    Given that I work full-time ... rarely.

Although, when I was sick recently, there were a couple slug days.

Carol: The young people call those Duvet Days I believe. I think they often spend hours streaming seasons of shows like on Netflix and so forth. Binge watching a series.

Toilet Tissue: during the pandemic, toilet tissue was hard to get in my area, so I paid way to much attention to it! LOL but I realized that with the nicer (quilted northern, charmin, angel soft…) paper I needed 2 squares for pee, and 3 squares for poo, sometimes 5-6 if it was messy…. But with the store brand I would need 4-5 squares for pee, and 10+ for poo…. I decided the more expensive was actually cheaper because I used so much more to get the job done.

Just last week, I switched from 3-ply to 2-ply. Better for our toilets and for some reason I use less. But weirdly, the 2-ply is slightly more expensive and there is significantly less choice. There are heaps of 3-ply and 4-ply choices, but 1 choice for 2-ply.

    Grocery shopping

     - when I was working, I didn't pre-plan meals a lot, maybe a day ahead. I drove by the Safeway every day and Walmart was close to where I worked so I could easily grab things. Now that I don't drive to town every day, I try to plan a week ahead and cook things I can eat three days in a row or throw into the freezer, and to save $$ on gas. I filled up the car the other day. Price jumped $.50 a gallon, so I paid $4.34 per gallon at the cheap station. WA doesn't have income tax so that's one reason for the jump, more taxes. Luckily the old Camry gets around 30 mpg.

I order basically the same things each week … slight variations. And occasionally, I walk over to the grocery store near work for a few extra things like fruit for my fruit bowl at work.

We have the fridge freezer and a small chest freezer and both are fairly full so at any given moment, we've got enough for about 3 or 4 weeks.

And delivery is free most of the time!

M, I hope you feel better soon. Don't rush back to work too soon. Those winds sound worse than the wind in Chicago.

I am back at work and putting in a full week this week. Two days to go till the weekend! I'm tired.

I have lived all over western Canada, including putting in 13 years in Manitoba. I used to think that Manitoba was one of the windiest places on earth. And then I moved to Tasmania. The wind in Tasmania blows all the other places out of the water!

We're having a little break right now and it's relatively calm. But we have more wind coming!

    image.png

By comparison, here's North America with practically no wind … although I see that the UK has a bit of activity offshore.

On Facebook … I use it like a tool.

It helps keep me in touch with family and friends around the world. Saves from having to write letters.

It helps me communicate with the cycling world and bee world, especially within Tasmania.

It lets me know what's on around this area - events and things.

It entertains me a bit - cat pictures and cartoons.
