I ran 5.29 miles this morning bringing my total to 62.38 for the month. Unless something happens, I think I will make my goal of 100 miles.

Wise words @John772016 . We are the lucky ones.

Thanks for being considerate of others with your germs @SummerSkier – if only everyone else was!

@chris_in_cal Yep, we are west coast central Cali.

@quilteryoyo The signs I saw was for a T-10 Miler on Vandenberg SFB, so it might be free…you would need base access or a sponsor. But free also means bare minimum LOL. Marked course…and maybe water? LOL. They did have a cool trail run on base last month I think, I don't think it was a race per se, just a run. We also have a half marathon in Oct too. It is nice they do that since there are only 1 or 2 for profit races per year within 75 miles of here…weird…I guess the demographics don't support it.

Yesterday was a keep the HR down z3 run. Aka a lot of walking. Original plan, do a 7k, halfway decided due to sore-ish legs, smoke haze, maybe drop to 6k, then towards the end, found the legs still chugging along ended up with the 7k anyways, indecisions indecisions 🙄blaming it on the hormones.

@John772016 hear hear on the being the lucky ones. Happy I can still do runs when over half of my high school cohorts can barely walk these days.

@quilteryoyo oooo love that driveway hill! The masochist in me going yummm hr training… 🤩

@angf0679 good luck on the run!

    @Teresa502 go gurl go!

@SummerSkier sorry to hear, hope you mend soon

    @tarun_yadavA good run!

@kgirlhart nice vest. You got me thinking about needing one for the upcoming dark of the night winter runs. Sunset is at 4.30pm in December here.

@ContraryMaryMary headwinds can be challenging for sure. When we have a chinook here it can be like running into a hurricane.

    Nice run @tarun_yadavA .

I hope your nose clears up soon @SummerSkier . Glad you didn't have it any worse. Staying home until Monday is probably a good idea for everyone. And, yes, my hills are killers. LOL

Great running @Teresa502 ! 100 miles is impressive. I'm struggling to make 80. LOL

@CMorning99 I am assuming, as a retiree, that I would have access to the base. Just not sure I won't to go that far for a race. I'll check it out though.

    Nice running @WarmJellyfish .

Hello @CMorning99 that's great. A lot of my family live there, and some work on the base at Vandenberg. I also went to Uni nearby at Cal Poly SLO.

It's a truly beautiful area of rugged mountains, raging seas and mostly year round good weather. World class place to be outside and active.

It rained at lunch! Since I can't take a hot shower after a rain run at work, that's why I didn't go. It was the only time I had to go yesterday

I did do some yoga last night. Maybe that's why the soreness across my shoulders is worse today then yesterday.

@quilteryoyo Fridays leave me little time to run. I take a shorter lunch break to leave earlier, to get home and get ready for the kids program I work in at my church in the evenings. I don't get home until close to 9pm and most nights still need supper at that time

So, there was a reason behind my question whether there were many UK ppl. Its obviously just one of those weird coincidences where UK and America are separated by a common language & I am sure it means nothing to any Americans, but:

The acronym used for Walking & Jogging (1st comment) is, in the UK a (fairly anachronistic) racial slur. Its not something you'd ever hear anyone use in the UK outside of the far far right and when it is said, is always done with malice.

I've gone back and forth on whether I was going to mention this, as its obviously entirely coincidental & nine times out ten I'm sure any british person would think, oh thats a coincidence. Everyone here is very supportive/inclusive, I thought I should at least mention it because i could imagine a scenario (albeit unlikely) where someone could unintentionally say the wrong thing.

    40.76/81km - 10.5km behind

Back home from summer vacation. Elevation running is over as it's too flat here. One day of resting after running 10km, 2 days of traveling, one day of utter exhaustion. And today I still have a lot of fluid retention, which causes muscle stiffness. Anyway. Back home.

Noticed something interesting: while on vacation I had no other option than to start my run uphill. My hr remained unusually low until the downward section happened, where it was lower anyway, then uphill again and it never got up either. I had the suspicion for a while that running uphill results in lower heartrate than on flat roads. Today my heartrate was as usual again. Oh well…

That does make it tough @angf0679 .

Glad you ate more than you were eaten today @WarmJellyfish . 🤣

@username301 I find the differences in meanings of words interesting.

Welcome home @yirara . It looked like you had a great vacation. Maybe your HR was lower because you weren't stressed from "life" while on vacation.

    9/17: 7.02 miles

    9/18: 6.08 miles

    9/19: 6.02 miles

    117.41/165 miles completed for September

I ran 6 miles today. It was a tempo run. I did pretty good with the paces until the cool down. I saw the high school cross country team out running. It was about 6:30 and still dark. I have seen them several times lately and it always frustrates me because most of them are wearing dark colors and none have lights or reflective gear. I sped up some to try to catch them. I couldn't, partly because they were just too far ahead of me starting out, but mostly because they are high school kids and I am 57. But one young man stopped to tie his shoe so when I reached him I told him that I wasn't trying to be a grouchy old woman, but that they needed to be wearing light colors when they are running in the dark. And I suggested they get some reflective tape or glow sticks. I'll be curious to see next week if he passed my suggestions on or if anyone takes my advice. But honestly, those kids are hard to see and it worries me for them to be running in the dark like that. So my cool down ended up being one of my fastest segments.

    9/2: 5 miles
    9/3: 5 miles
    9/4: 4 miles
    9/6: 12 miles
    9/7: 4 miles
    9/9: 4 miles
    9/13: 6.2 miles
    9/14: 5 miles
    9/16: 4 miles
    9/20: 12 miles

    Total: 61.2/100

I wasn't able to run as much as I would like this week so I'm a bit behind for the month. Today was a long run. It felt better than the last time I did it, but still struggled a bit with the last couple of miles.

    20.09 3.0km 22min 7:25/km - fast

    43.76/81km - 10.2km behind

This went better. Muscles were still super tight during most of the run, but my stamina is there. HR sensor failed. Meh.
