Good morning, friends. @pridesabtch I’m so sorry for all you and your family is going through. (((Hugs)))

It’s officially autumn, and although I’m not looking forward to the starkness of leafless trees and cold snowy winter, I do love the cooler temps and colors of fall. If I could live somewhere where it went from spring to fall repeatedly, I’d be a happy camper i think.

I have lots my brain wants to get done today, but my body is still fighting off illness, so we will see how much I actually do.

Just for Tuesday

JFT Monday

• Work by 8:00 ❌
• Home for lunch to let dogs out ✔️
• Find wallet (think it's in hubby's car) ✔️
• Home by 5:00 ❌
• Visit mom ✔️
• Leftovers for dinner ❌
• Shower ❌
• Bed by 10:30 ✔️

Had a few misses yesterday, but nothing too serious. Doc did some med adjustments. Too soon to tell if it is working or if I'm just more relaxed today because I'm not visiting mom this evening. I feel a little bad about not visiting everyday, but she needs to get out of her room and talk to people. Her main complaint when living alone was loneliness.

Stocked my work fridge with some healthy snacks to try and help my mood and waist line. I feel better when I look better. I look better when I eat better. And so on.

Plan is to stay home and cuddle the dogs today. Almost talked hubby into getting a 4 yo golden retriever to add to our zoo. Fact is Merlin needs a playmate with a little more life left in him, and 4 yo is perfect. No longer a puppy, but still full of energy. Poor Elliott is wearing down quickly these days, 15 is old for a larger dog, boxer.

Recap 9/22 M ~ Rainy day, started with fog & sprinkles. I got out early enough with dog & stuck to neighborhood cul-de-sacs just in case. We got sprinkled off & on most of our walk, but light rain last 2 blocks. Poured shortly after we got home. Rain barrels continue to overflow.

• Walked dog 3.31 mi, only 100 days left in annual distance challenge & I have 350km left to go 😁 happy dog & happy me / OT exercises 😀
• Leftovers for supper / healthy snacks ~ baba ganoush & pita bread / limit sweets ~ 4 Hershey minis / 64 oz water / log all food / net calories zero 😁 yes
• Make baba ganoush (first time) for snack ~ easy to make, good recipe / make apple crisp to take to parents' / gas in Murano / w/d at bank no time / read / digital declutter / pack for overnight visit / other? hubby & I shopped online & finally ordered new phones (my Fitbit stopped syncing on Sunday, and I had told hubby once one of my "must have" apps stops working with our >5 yo phones, we order new ones, sale or no), normal M garbage chores, empty compost bucket in bin 😁 ta-da!
• Choir rehearsal 6:30 😁 on way home saw 1 deer crossing road (tis the season) & realized it joined 5 other deer standing there watching me go by

JFT 9/23 T ~ Nice day!

• Walked dog 3.7 mi 😁 saw Molly off leash & her brother McCready (2 Scotties in our neighborhood) on leash at city park but no issues b/c our 13 yo dog doesn't react so much any more / OT exercises
• Pack lunch to eat at parents' / leftovers made by Dad for supper… log best guess / healthy snack / limit sweets / 64 oz water / log all food / net calories zero
• Give mail carrier signed form for delivery 😀 / finish packing for overnight trip / drive to Mom & Dad's (be patient! ~ so far so good) / watch Brewers game with folks (starts 8:40, late for them haha)

WOTY 2025: Judicious ~ I just like the way the word sounds, and the meaning is right for me: having or showing reason and good judgement in making decisions. I can apply this word in so many ways!

JFT Tuesday

• Work by 7:30am meeting ❌ took it at home
• Pear for breakfast ✔️
• Home for lunch to let dogs out ✔️
• Leftovers for lunch ✔️
• Try to find things to do at work other than shop… ❌Bought baby shower gifts, used my Wayfair GC for some towels and a rug, then bought some Christmas gifts for my great nephews.
• Home by 5:00pm ✔️
• Dinner at home ✔️

• Shower ✔️
• Bed by 10:00 ✔️

Hubby cooked Cornish hens last night with mashed potatoes, homemade apple sauce and sautéed peas. There was more than enough to bring some of the hen to work for a sandwich. Also grabbed some of the apples sauce, it is some of the best he's ever made. Sugar content is high, but I used it as dessert.

Basically had a lazy night at home yesterday. It was nice. My giant puppy even curled up on the couch with me for a while. He's a 1yo lab, so calm is not usually in his vocabulary. New med for "wakefulness" seems to be helping during the day. It's for sleep apnea or narcolepsy, and I don't have either, but it has definitely made me more attentive and less tired. I woke up rested this morning. That is huge. I did forget I was supposed to take the pup to daycare, so I was still late for work, but not because I couldn't drag myself out of bed. It feels good to feel good.

Tonight is trivia and tomorrow is a crazy hectic day at work with corporate big wigs and a never ending series of meetings. I planned the catered dinner in the evening. I'm terrified there won't be enough food or some crazy thing like that. I chose one of my favorite small local restaurants that serves Cajun food. It was a little more expensive than Olive Garden, but we get to support a local business and have something you don't get in WV very often. Fingers crossed. I'm going to stop by the restaurant this evening on my way to trivia, pay them and verify that they are set for 16-18 people with the agreed upon menu. Everything else is squared away. Just need to verify there are drinks in the conference room. I may also go by the new bakery downtown and pick up a few dessert items.

Crazy that I'm nervous about dinner, but not about the 6 meetings where I have to present. Oh well, life is strange sometimes.

Now that I've got Mom's laptop updated & her mouse settings properly adjusted, I can use it to update JFT. Yay.

Recap 9/23 T ~ Nice day!

• Walked dog 3.7 mi 😁 saw Molly off leash & her brother McCready (2 Scotties in our neighborhood) on leash at city park but no issues b/c our 13 yo dog doesn't react so much any more / OT exercises 😁
• Pack lunch to eat at parents' / leftovers made by Dad for supper… log best guess ~ small country rib, sister's squash, baked potato / healthy snack ~ none / limit sweets ~ apple crisp that I brought to parents / 64 oz water / log all food / net calories zero 😀 I think so
• Give mail carrier signed form for delivery / finish packing for overnight trip / drive to Mom & Dad's (be patient! ~ so far so good) ❤️ / watch Brewers game with folks (starts 8:40, late for them haha) 😁 a good day

JFT W 9/24 ~ Very humid, cloudy, cool morning to start day. Hope sun burns it off like yesterday.

• Planned rest day, not a lot of steps possible / OT exercises
• Breakfast Cheerios & 1/2 banana / lunch Dad's baked chicken, fried potatoes & sister's beets / supper no idea once I get home, maybe leftovers? / apple for snack / limit sweets to apple crisp / 64 oz water / log all food / net calories not horrible (watch portions)
• Visit with Mom & Dad / help Mom with laptop / take Mom to radio station & used bookstore / watch Brewers game (starts 3:40) / drive home (hopefully there before dark, with sunset at 6:45, don't want any deer encounters) / hubby & pet time (I think the animals miss me more LOL)

Hi everyone! Hope you're all well and having a great Hump Day. The most exciting part of our day will be the new season of Survivor starting tonight. LOL At least, I hope that is the most exciting part of our day. I'm good with quiet and boring these days. ;)

@cschmitz110515 Are you able to watch the Brewers games on regular tv? I've not been able to get them since we got rid of Spectrum and started using Hulu as our cable package on Roku. I have missed being able to see them but I don't want to pay $30/mo for subscription to a streaming app.

Well, yesterday was a bust. It's okay though. I'm still fighting whatever virus this is, and so is my honey, so I did what I had to do (bake dog treats) and when i realized how light-headed I was, I sat down and read a book. Last night I actually got a better night's sleep than I have in a while, so maybe the steroids Urgent Care gave me for my lungs are finally clearing out of my system? IDK, but at least I didn't wake up 6 or 7 times. I'm going to use the same goal list I had yesterday (minus dog treats) because I still want to get these things done, so we'll see how it goes…

A lot got done yesterday. Thanks to hubby getting the dog, I was able to visit mom. I really try to go every other day. It is a 30 minute drive and I stay for about an hour. All in all, not bad, but it is definitely a time commitment. She was in the dining hall eating dinner which was a step towards acceptance. She didn't interact, but it was the first time she didn't eat in her room. She seems to be going down hill faster now that she is there, or maybe it's just that I'm spending more time with her. When she lived at home I visited every other day, but only stayed 10 - 15 minutes, because it was so dirty I didn't want to sit on the furniture.

Ran a few little errands also. Stopped at a local bakery at picked up dessert for this evening's dinner. Then went to the dollar store and got some serving utensils. The lady doing the catering asked that I get the plates and things because she's been staying with her dad in the evenings (her mom passed 2 weeks ago). I didn't know if I needed serving things, but better safe than sorry and for $1 each it's hard to go wrong.

On my way to trivia I stopped at the restaurant an paid the catering bill to stream line things this evening. The price was good, but the delivery fee was kind of high. Well it was 20%, but then I still need to tip at delivery. I think I'm just going to give each delivery person $20, as they likely split the delivery fee. That and they aren't doing any set up, just delivering. We have a secure facility and they do not have access passes. So I will do all of the set up, etc.

We only had 3 people show for trivia last night, but we won for the night ($15) and had the highest total points for the month ($100). I stuck to my 2 beer limit, but just couldn't being myself to get the salad.

Though my awake hours are less sluggish, I still tire early. When we got home I pretty much went straight to bed. I slept well and woke up rested. The new med adjustments seem to be on point.

Not much planned today other than meetings.

Good morning! Another night of better sleep, so YAY! A bit of a sore throat and headache still but my lungs feel looser and my nose isn’t as stuffed up so another YAY! Maybe I’m on the upswing? Hubby sounds worse today. I think he might need to go back into the Dr to make sure he doesn’t now have sinus infection. He’s like a work horse though. Nothing much keeps him down.

I need to start an exercise regimen, only not call it an “exercise regimen” because that brings out the Ick immediately! I can feel my muscles wasting from so much sedentary time and I need to turn that around. My goal is to be as healthy, strong and able as I can be for life. I don’t actually have a goal number on the scale anymore…it’s more of wanting good numbers on labs, clear scans, and strong immune system, strong bones, general good health. So, it’s time I clean up the food I eat and add more nutritious whole food vs processed foods to my diet. Time to at least start taking daily walks. I procrastinate so much and it’s so detrimental to my health. There’s no reason for it. I’m retired and have all the time in the world. When I was working, I worked 60 hour weeks and still found time for all this other stuff. I am older and have undergone chemo again, and still have every 3 week oncology treatments, but that’s no excuse for not even trying. It’s like I’ve given up, and I’m not a quitter! I know the things I need to incorporate into my daily routine, healthy new habits, but I need to approach it by adding one small step at a time or I’ll get overwhelmed and quit again. So, here I go! If at first you don’t succeed, try try again…

I hope you all have a wonderful day! Sorry for the blah, blah, blah…but I needed to get that out of my head and onto “paper”. 😉

September’s End of Month Healthy New Habit: Walk daily. Even if it’s a 10-minute walk. 10 minutes daily = 60 hours per year versus the zero hours you’re getting now! Do it twice a day and you’re up to 120 hours per year.
When: In the morning, I will have coffee, make my plan, journal, shower and after showering I will put on my walking shoes, grab a bottle of water and take a short walk before I do anything else.

📍Daily weight fluctuations are NORMAL and can be more than 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
📍A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
📍Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
📍The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
📍Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
📍The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
📍When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
📍Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

This month has been hectic. I haven’t had time to read posts or comment much.

Happy Friday! So nice to see you @TerriRichardson112 ! Looks like you are doing great! I am always inspired by all you’re doing.

Yesterday, I took my dog for a walk at dusk. It was a beautiful sunset and nice and cool. Happy dog and happy me. I want this to be a habit…I want to be a person who walks every day. Day 1 under the belt. I saw myself in a video yesterday and it was very eye opening…front and back whole body walking around doing stuff. My abdomen has gotten very large again. Not happy. Buckling down. Not just because 8 didn’t like the way it looked but because I know how unhealthy it is to have that much fat around my middle.

I did batch cook veggie bean soup and a pot of Santa Fe Rice & beans. Today I will break into individual portions to freeze for easy healthy meal grabs. I still want to make a batch of creamy potato or broccoli soup but I’ve never made cream soups from scratch so I’m a bit intimidated. Maybe I’ll try that today. It’s in the 60°’s, so nice soup weather. It’s going to be in the 80°s this weekend. Ugh. I’m over it. Bring on autumn…

Yesterday was long… Got to work at 7:15am and left work at 7:10pm. Meetings and dinner went well. There was plenty of food at the dinner and everyone enjoyed the meal. I think one of my favorite restaurants may get a little more business soon.

Funny thing is that I was so picky that I didn't eat the boxed lunch provided. Then I was so busy I only managed to scarf down 3 shrimp and a spoonful of grits at dinner. Hubby and I went out to dinner when I got home. Did well on portion control, brought over half of my dinner home. Once we got home I just crashed.

Today was a fun day. The local college hosted about 100 middle school kids. Chemours sent 3 of us to talk to them but we thing it's more fun to do science than to talk about it. We had the kids do hands on experiments, and taught them as they experimented. Usually, we do fun with science shows at grade schools and its like 8:00-11:00, including clean up. Then we go to lunch to "debrief". I get back to work around noon. Today wasn't a show and we finished up around 12:30 at which point I realized I had a meeting at 1:00pm. Oops, no lunch for me, and I still needed to let the dogs out. I ended up taking the meeting in my driveway, then letting the dogs out. Finally made it to work at 1:30pm. Almost wasn't even worth coming in, but I did.

Not sure what the evening holds. I'll probably go see mom. Think I'll go home first so I get there closer to 6:30 than 5:00. That way she should be finished with dinner. If Tim goes with me, we'll likely stop for dinner in Marietta. Otherwise, I'll meet him somewhere closer to home.

Hour commitment - Now I won’t eat again until after 5 pm. None of the same foods at dinner as at lunch. Can still have my dose of metamusal.

Have to go back to vets in about 10 minutes.

@PackerFanInGB I had to laugh when I read your comment about our summer-like weather coming back and how you want autumn (the real one). Me too! Hubby wants to wait until Nov. to start our furnace, which is a ridiculous thing for where we live, in my mind. The mild weather does help with the utility bills though. For myself, I have "workouts" even if it's only walking the dog. Easier on my motivation. Regarding watching Brewers games, my folks have Spectrum as it's really their only option. We have TDS which carries the games.

@more_freggies76 Hope all is well at the vet's.

I didn't log or post yesterday. We got our new phones delivered when I got home from my folks, so hubby started to process the transfer from our old phones, but something went screwy with my transfer… of course, hubby's phone went fine. Now I'm having to manually add apps & such. A real pain. So yesterday was dealing with that, traveling 35 miles to visit his brother, SIL & niece and go out for lunch, stopping at the bank on the way home, and in the evening me attending my new Bible study at a church member's home on the opposite side of town. Made for a long day. Think I ate ok but definitely light on water. No time for dog walk.

JFT F 9/26 ~ Very nice day! Clouds this morning but now sunny & mild.

• Walked dog 3.77 mi 😁 happy dog & happy me / OT exercises (had to set up reminders on new phone)
• Breakfast Cheerios & raspberries / lunch finish up some leftovers / supper leftover meatloaf, cook potatoes & veg / healthy snack / limit sweets / 64 oz water / log all food / net calories zero
• Make hummer food, clean feeders & refill / empty & refill both birdbaths / wash dishes, including milk jugs from parents / fill 5 gallon jugs from rain barrels / backup photos / register new chargers / pay Urgent Care bill / bank xfer / read / digital declutter / other?

Happy Saturday! It’s going to be in the 80°s this weekend, so I hope to get my walk in still this morning. I’ve been enjoying it, and so has my Maddie, so hoping to keep it going.

Last night we had BLT’s, and I ate way too much. I’m still feeling it today. I don’t know why I do that…I need to eat slower so I can tell when I’ve had enough, but it was BACON and I haven’t had it in months. I must’ve had FOMO. So dumb. Anyway, trying to stick to less processed foods again today (actually, trying to do that in general everyday). My fingers are swollen from the salt today, so I will be pushing water today.

@cschmitz110515 I’ve been thinking about changing to TDS for internet. I didn’t realize they had cable tv package too. We get our internet and cell phones through Spectrum right now and if I drop Soectrum internet , the cost of our cell phones will more than double so need to do more investigating on that I think. Are you happy with TDS?

September’s End of Month Healthy New Habit: Walk daily. Even if it’s a 10-minute walk. 10 minutes daily = 60 hours per year versus the zero hours you’re getting now! Do it twice a day and you’re up to 120 hours per year.
When: In the morning, I will have coffee, make my plan, journal, shower and after showering I will put on my walking shoes, grab a bottle of water and take a short walk before I do anything else.

@more_freggies76 Best wishes for your doggos. I understand; our Kitty is 15 and dog is 13. I'm happy doggo still loves her walks with me, although she's definitely more tired when we get home nowadays.

@PackerFanInGB I am happy with TDS, hubby less so, on it for 1 year now, but saved us $ from AT&T/Directv. Glitches now and then but nothing horrible. TV picture is really sharp with fiber-optic cable. We have bundle for internet, tv & landline. Our cell phones are thru Consumer Cellular, which we love! Great reception & service, all U.S.A. based. We saved a ton of $ when we switched & we use my AARP membership for discounts. When we're approached by other providers, we tell them C.C. and they say "we can't compete with that" LOL.
