Big hugs Allie! Just listen to your body and do what you are able to do, until procedures can be done like the endoscopy, and the parathyroid surgery.👍🏼💖🙏

Some photos of my husband's latest painting project. These are 2 inch tall figures.👍🏼💖. He's so talented!
Yesterday he was painting the veggie basket there (it wasn't attached yet to her). He asked me what the vegetable was to me. I had to get out my magnifying glass to spy it up close. To me it looked like two carrots so that's how he painted them. He always keeps the faces blank.

A triumph! We have the same amount again for Saturday. No room in the freezer because John bought loads of fish today at the fish market. Prawns, skate, and smoked haddock.
Lovely birthday. My cards from friends and a present from my brother have not arrived. The post seems to be completely useless atm. But I got lots of messages, and loads of kisses and hearts from Edie.

Melanie – Pix is only about 7. Honestly, I think Jess is being a worry-wort. I feel “don’t worry until there’s something to worry about”.
Rebecca – I used to buy a lot of baby veggies (like the stage 3 stuff) because they were good to take on a trip as they didn’t require refrigeration and were individually packaged so I didn’t have a whole lot yet I could have things like green beans, etc. Wow those statues! Beautiful painting
Just came back from ceramics. The one gal is really nice, only it looks (to me, anyway) that the gal who is running it now isn’t doing a good job. There’s practically nothing poured! How do you know if they have a mold if you can’t see it? I can’t believe the paints that they are out of! She certainly should know what paints are popular. Maybe not the other gal, but the one who is running it now should. Oh well...so I buy it somewhere else, at least I can paint it there.

Carol - thinking of you and DH, hope he is comfortable and that you are taking care of you.
Rebecca - Your DH has a ton of patience! and some very tiny brushes.
Heather - Happy Happy Birthday!
Not writing much lately but am reading and sending out good thoughts.

September Projects that I enjoyed doing.

Barbie: Many thanks for keeping us on track.
i’ve only just managed to find the time to get caught up, so it will take me to go back and read the rest of September‘s posts.
Lisa: on writing. I think writing is in the blood. I know, for me, I have to write, as I find it very therapeutic to work my way through my daily life. It’s always been that way. Occasionally, I don’t have time, but after a few days, I just feel antsy.I have a full day today. This morning I have my Latin study grip and after lunch I have Parchment craft. I will try and catch up with everybody tomorrow.

Happy Fall, Y'all.
I am up after being in bed all day yesterday. I had to call in from work because my headaches were so bad. I left a message on My Chart about getting meds for the intense pain of my headache. I told my doctor that it was 8 or 9 out of 10. I got nauseated, and with the pain, I just burrowed under the covers. Rose must have sensed I was not feeling well; she was very clingy. I told DH that I couldn't talk to him and that I needed quiet. I wanted to cry, but I knew that would make it worse. I felt guilty calling in, so I figured if I felt better, I would go in.
I woke up at 12:45 a.m., and my head was starting to hurt again, so I got up, put a headache steamer in the shower, and got in; that did a world of good. I performed a sinus wash and applied my steroid spray, as well as other nasal sprays. I brushed my teeth and followed my skincare routine. Then I took Alleve and allergy meds too. Now, I need to put my ice pack in the freezer and grab another if I need it. This is the best I've felt so far. I looked up to see how well Tramadol works on migraines, and Dr. Google said it doesn't help. So, I am sticking with my Excedrine Migraine, Motrin, and Aleve. Most of them are NSAIDs. I need to throw the Tramadol away. It is 3 years old and expired. I don't like to take narcotics anyway. I am drinking my migraine tea as well.Lanette, I didn't know it was on the market either. DH said that someone called him asking if we wanted to sell our house, and he told them to call in the fall. The man did, and he came by, and I showed him around while DH was on the phone to share his 2 cents. I have a coworker who also wanted to buy the house. So, I will tell her someone is very interested. Maybe she can buy the house across the street. They left because of a divorce from a cheating spouse. His mom needed to be in a nursing home. That's the one I had to stay with, because she fell. So, yes, this is getting real. DH and I are discussing how to move things. He wants me to leave my exercise equipment. I told him no. I actively use that stuff. He told me to go to the gym. I told him that I don't always like working out at the gym. I only use the pool. My B-day is on the 18th of this month. I will be on Chapter 60! So, I am saying goodbye to my 50s.
Rebecca, I am surprised that your sister doesn't want any more dogs. They are great company keepers. If anything happens to Rose, we will get a smaller dog to fit our place, like a Cavapoo. If I ever get a place with a big backyard again, I would go for something even bigger. I need one that doesn't shed as much as Rose does. Perhaps in time, your sister will want a smaller dog. Your sis may wish to travel. Is she still able to handle her property? Has she thought of downsizing?
I am so glad, Allie, that you can eat and are feeling better.
Terri, my son studied Latin for four years. I wanted him to take Spanish. He loved it.
I guess I will go back to bed while I am feeling better. Thank Goodness for the reprieve. Have a great Friday.
XO,
Mo in Mississippi
Oh, someone asked where I am moving to. I will be moving to the windy city of Chicago.

This is Rose 🌹 who wants to know what I am doing. You see it isn’t raw. Hopefully her fur will grow back in. She has allergies like I do.

Terri - I agree. For me, the writing I do here in MFP has had to be enough some years, especially when I was ill. But I always go back to writing the tougher stuff. As you said, I get antsy, untethered.
Mo - Love the painted pieces! Sorry the migraines are so bad. One of my last bosses had them so bad they did botox injections. She said it helped some, but not as much as she had hoped.
Rebecca - Your sister's watercolor is amazing, and your DH's tiny people are awesome.
Heather - So glad you enjoyed your birthday!
Melanie - Much like you, enjoyed rodeos at one point, but am over the crowds and the noise levels are just unbearable. Covered a ranch rodeo in Alpine, TX, when I was editor for the local newspaper, and loved the reality and pure fun of it as compared to the professional riders and ropers of the regular rodeos. The only photography award I ever was for a rodeo pic, actually, and loved the pic of your family posse.
Every insomnia session has me humming "Hello, darkness, my old friend… " and I still want the shirt that says that, plus "I stood up too fast again." Been up since about 1:30, no real reason why, but nowhere I have to be today, so it's not that big a deal. I'll just take a nap if I need one.
The dizzy business is getting annoying, though. Not sure what is up with that, I guess it's possible my blood pressure is wandering around again. Hope not, but if it gets worse, I'll get it seen.
Did talk to my daughter about her quilt again, and got some more of her preferences winkled out of her… She and I are a lot alike in many ways, but my focus on patterns is not really part of the way she thinks, so this is going to be my toughest quilt yet. Don't get me wrong, I know if I make it, she'll love it, but I do want it to be something she loves for itself as well as for who made it. Didn't explain that well, but it is four in the morning.
Hey, it's four in the morning! Time to make a cup of coffee and get out of my jammies.
Later, y'all,

My walking road blocks. Oh to be so flexible-lol!
Make it make sense-i buy cute clothes for current body, then actually start walking and tracking-smh! I have been in slight deficit for calories every day this week. I have only have one day that was below 10,000 steps. I just hit my 150 weekly minutes of active Zone. I have stretched at least once daily for the week so yay good week! But I just got cute clothes for the body I have!
Rebecca- I can't imagine painting statues that tiny! I can barely see to do my cross stitch without a magnifier. Wonderful!
WritingWriting - my sister and my mother always thought that I would become a writer. I think I write like I talk though. I don't know what kind of a writer I would have been. Maybe they thought that because I sent very detailed letters back home regarding my life in the Philippines. I think I mailed three or four letters a week. But back then we didn't have internet and Country to Country cell phones or FaceTime. And calling home was expensive. I do Journal I guess if you could call it that. An extensive collection of notebooks and notepads with half written notes, writings, and ramblings. That's the extent of my writing these days. Like most things in my life it takes a long time to develop that habit.
Mo-Pretty! Sorry about migraines.
Lisa- I want to come back as one of my cats. They run around the house all day with great big bursts of energy. Someone feeds them and cleans up after them. Someone lets them go outside and play. And they seem to nap whenever they want to!
I hope everyone has a great day!
Love,
Kylia making it work in Ohio

mom called as I was getting ready for class(again) and said she has changed her mind, again and will be calling tomorrow morning to reschedule the MRI. She won't say anything to my older sister who was against her getting the test done. She knows it is the right thing to do.
Good for her!
Heading out for a few days to attend college reunion (undergraduate).
I've never been to one of my school reunions. I was invited to a high school reunion but was in Australia and couldn't go. I don't know whether any of my colleges or universities have had reunions. They've likely lost my contact details. I haven't heard from any of them in years.
But we go to my husband's school reunions.
I hope you enjoy yours!
I've been given another two months free by Readly! This is the fourth time! I don't understand the marketing, but I'm very happy to have it. I will read a favourite interiors magazine this afternoon. I put the cancellation date in my diary.
If your free months with Readly stop, you can move to Libby. Do you have Libby in the UK? I can access all sorts of magazines for free.
Machka , how is the weather now? Can you ride your bike now?
The weather is still pretty unsettled here, but I did get out for my first bicycle ride in a month on Monday!
They say that tomorrow is supposed to be all right, but Sunday's a mess again.
The Roaring 40s are still roaring although I think they are finally starting to travel a little bit further south.
Headaches
For years and years I had a headache every single day. As soon as I woke up in the morning, my head would hurt and it would get worse as the day progressed to the point where I could hardly see by the end of the day.
I figured that was normal.
Somewhere along the way I was filling out some sort of survey which asked how often I got headaches and it gave me options like "occasionally", "once a month", "once a week" … and I wondered where the "all day every day" option was. So I started asking around and it turned out that there were actually people who did not have a headache all day every day!! Who knew??
So I started trying to figure out how to get rid of my headaches.
I tried a new chiropractor … didn't like him at all (he was more interested in draining his clients of money), and he didn't help.
I updated my glasses. That helped a little tiny bit.
I make sure to switch to my long-distance glasses when I'm outside instead of staying in my desk glasses. That also helped a tiny bit.
I stretched. Minor help.
I tried different chairs and pillows with mixed results.
I worked on my posture. Some help.
I worked on easing stress. Little bit of help.
I adjusted my computer screens so that they are easier to see. Tiny help.
I even got botox for TMJ! Not much help.
I got my deviated septum fixed. That helped a bit more - it has certainly reduced my sinus headaches.
But what really helped was going off painkillers. I had been taking painkillers every day and it was starting to show in my liver numbers. Then I read about Rebound Headaches or Medication overuse headache
https://www.migraine.org.au/moh
I did have to ease off gradually, but have got to the point where I use painkillers just a few days each month. Like 10% of a month rather than 100% of the month.
It wasn't pretty at first! But after 2 or 3 months, my headaches eased off a lot.
Now I get headaches when I'm sick (like I was at the beginning of September) or occasionally when I've been really focusing on my computer screens at work. I had a headache at the end of the day at work yesterday and today. I took a painkiller yesterday but nothing today.
Today, I came home, took Rhody for a walk, played the piano, had dinner, coloured … and by then the staring-at-computer headache was almost gone.
Might be something to think about.
I had to do something similar to get off nasal spray too.
For me, less is better when it comes to medications.

Kylia - I want to come back as a cat, too… At the moment, though, Egg's still kinda mad at me, because I smeared some cocoa butter petroleum jelly all over her chin and forehead. This time of year, as the weather cools off, she always gets itchy, and will just scratch her skin around her face until it bleeds and gets all scabby. Vicious cycle - once it gets to that point, she stays itchy. She REALLY hates getting anything put on her, so I have to sneak up on her.
Makes her quite unhappy for a little bit. But she always forgets, and it's worth it to see her relaxed and not scratching. Corey asked me if I learned it from the Internet, and I had to think a minute. My mother's remedy for her cats' skin issues was always Vaseline. And if they got hairballs, she'd shove a dollop of that down their throats, as well.
Hadn't really thought about why I was sure it would work. But it did, and it does. Never had to give her a hairball treatment, thank goodness. But you can see in the pic that she's decided I'm forgiven, as long as I don't reach for her with both hands, she'll let me pet her… and you can see her little white eyebrows are from scratching in years past, and the fur grew back in white.
Woo, I am VERY babbly this morning.
Later,
Love,

I attended a webinar today which asked these questions:
What do I want to excel at?
What is wellness for me?
Where am I on a scale of 1-10 with attaining those things?
What is one thing you’d like to do better – starting today? What action will you take?

I am just about to go and wash my hair in preparation for this evening's joint birthday celebration. We are taking the family out to Shandiz for early dinner. We've both had to transfer money over into our joint account , as seven for dinner is not a cheap occasion! But you are only 80 once! Actually, John will have his birthday on the cruise, but this is for the kids. We would have had it nearer the time, but the family's schedule is so crowded.
I feel quite nervous, don't know why. I did have to organise the event, and the candles and birthday song etc, so I will have to reconfirm that when we arrive. Oh well. If I left it to someone else, I would worry even more. Control freak? Moi?

Good morning my friends!
Barbie thanks for the new month! And Yay for walking to class!
Tracey sounds like a beautiful fall trip!
Carol hugs for your DH and you!
Kylia you deserve time off! Yay for Broadway and double Yay for beating nicotine!
Rebecca Yay for your gym success! And Yay for retraining your whole system for fullness signals!
Lisa sorry you miss your mom. Oddly enough, I don't miss my mom too much. She died almost two years ago. Lately I've been wondering why I don't miss her that much. Sad either way.
Heather Ooh! Carbon monoxide! Be careful!…Happy birthday!
Ginny and Debbie enjoy your reunions!
Machka Yay for piano/keyboard! You are so organized!
Beth I'm with you in the slump. Every weight loss journey has setbacks. It's how we come back that will get us going again. Let's do this!
Amanda welcome!
Pip happy camping! I'm jealous of you camping with Kirby and your dogs! I went alone the last few times.
Michele glad Ganon is walking better! Yay for the gym!
Allie hugs for you! Hope you feel better.
Mo hugs for you too! Those migraines sound horrible.
Well my adventures with Dad continue. I keep thinking I can talk him into taking a shower. He agrees but doesn't get it done.
My Uncle from across the street is in trouble. He's been in the hospital all week, and his kidneys are shutting down. He is 98, so this may be the end. But it's not over yet. I'm frustrated at the lack of news from my cousins, but I don't want to be a pest. Anyway, he has had a long happy life. It's probably too soon to say that though. It's hard to know what to say, especially since our religious views differ. I bite my tongue a lot.
Anyway, have a great day! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Regarding the piano …
My mother tried to teach me the piano when I was young, but I wasn't enthusiastic. However, I did pick up a little bit.
Then she got me into lessons for about 3 years and I completed Grade 3 piano.
I've also taken a few music classes along the way so I have some basics.
BUT …
It has been a long, long time since I've played the piano.
A couple years ago, we got a piano keyboard and I plunked away a little bit, then we got caught up in moving etc. Finally, I can sit at my piano again and I've located my music books. So I've started to play a little bit most days again.
I figure if I can learn to swim at the age of 58, I can learn or relearn to play the piano.
I really need to get doing scales and things so I can work on my fingering which is atrocious right now. I've also been thinking about a metronome, and just discovered I can access one online!
So after a bit of work, I can now play Rhody's song. 😀

One of my favorite pictures from Missouri Botanical Garden I took ten years ago.
Learning timing of protein intake important too. If you can handle dairy it is good to have a dairy snack about an hour before bed. As s senior I am vulnerable to losing muscle. As we sleep we continue to need protein. The protein in dairy has more staying power. I am only having with Greek yogurt no added sugar or cottage cheese. It is important to not have anything with added sugar so as to not to spike blood sugar when you sleep. I am sleeping better and having less leg cramping since I started doing this.
When I have more time I will look up the bacteria that helps build the mucus lining in our guts when this is in short supply it can create all kinds of problems including Crohn's and Leaky gut. Rebecca has your son talked to his doctors about this.?

Thank you all for commiserating with my dieting slump or offering suggestions on how to get going again. All are appreciated.
Mo …have you considered preventative type migraine medications like Nurtec or Qulipta? My son has chronic migraines, that include vision disturbances, and has been on nearly every medication available … including Botox injections (which didn't help)… and has the been having the best success with both of these preventative medications. He actually takes both. Nurtec in the morning and Qulipta before bed. Reducing stress/anxiety helps, but given your work, I imagine nearly impossible. Diet/exercise changes have helped him too. I'm so very sorry you have to deal with migraines and hope you can find a regimen that works for you.
Kim … is your vision improving?
Lanette …Hearts Content is a hemlock-white pine-northern hardwood forest type. It's an old-growth forest on 120 acres, but the scenic area is most famous for its 20 acres of tall white pine and eastern hemlock. Many of these trees have diameters of over 40 inches and heights of over 140 feet, and most of the white pine are between 300 and 400 years old. American beech is also plentiful in the forest.
Adult son who lives with us tested positive for covid yesterday. I was scheduled for my flu and covid jabs tomorrow and Monday but will wait now to see if I get sick. Can reschedule later. Can't visit my mom either until I'm sure I am not a risk of exposing a frail population to the crud.
Mo … is it possible this current migraine might be covid? My son said the worst symptom was an incredibly bad headache.
Will work outside today … definitely want fresh air!
