October LA goals:
🍁 Increase AF days to 12
🍁 2 glass limit 🍷
Going to Oktoberfest tomorrow with my DIL - no alcohol, just fun shopping at the vendor booths and grabbing an $8 giant pretzel of course.

Just dropping in for a minute. Mezcal last night, planning to not drink tonight, but most likely will tomorrow. Anyway, 2 NA, 1 A.

Only one glass of wine last night with dinner at home. We are going to the boat later today. Just came home from work.
@NonnieDoiron that woman sounds exhausting! Ugh!
@Michieb125 have fun today!
@WestCoastGirl1 wel, don’t continue to drink out of spite! Haha! Hey, maybe him not going on alcohol runs will be the push you need to get over that himp. Work on you, don’t try to fix your hubby right now. He’ll quit when he’s ready.3 -
You guys will never believe this. But my husband and I and our two new kitties were on the couch. And, all of a sudden this orange worm on the end of the wand pulled down about 4 inches, bounced back up and bobbed up and down for a minute or so.
The only explanation is that our beloved Tinker is still here ❤️. Nobody body else was near it.

AF-4A day of deep cleaning my kitchen burned all the calorie overage from yesterday.
What is it with me and over-sharers?? My kids have these friends that are brothers. The boys are good, one has autism and the other is intellectually delayed (not horribly, but has an IEP to help him out). The boys’ parents are also intellectually delayed, and I don’t know how to deal with them. The dad likes to talk, and he over shared too much today. I didn’t know how to tell him to shut up nicely. I need to stop letting these people into my house!🙄🤦🏻♀️

Okay, wasn't planning to drink tonight. Been a long day, didn't want to go with mezcal, so I grabbed a mini bota of merlot, sipping on that.

After work, we picked up son, daughter in law and granddaughter, headed out to a "pumpkin patch" that turned out to be a noisy, crowded cluster in a parking lot in the heat and I didn't want to be the first to say anything but when leaving was proposed I was relieved. We headed down to Chinatown and hit a joint called Golden Time, where you cook skewers of meat at your table. I like it because you really have a great level of control over your portion size and content. Don't want carbs? Don't order rice. Don't want lots of calories? Only order a few skewers. Pretty cool and very tasty. From there to a quick stop at the grocery, then a tea house, then claw machines. That was nice.

I seem to have forgotten about self-care past 2 days and had a bottle of "low alcohol" rose on Friday and half a bottle of low-ish alcohol txacholina wine yesterday (it sucks, most acidic thing I've ever tasted with no aroma). So much for low-ish alcohol wines. They're lower alcohol makes it too easy to drink more. I also had a whole bag of popcorn and thai noodles. Diet out the window. So not me. I know it's work stress and maybe it's time to leave or change.
Today I have a long hike planned with friends to at least attempt to reverse the calorie damage from the past 48 hours and find my RESET button.
AF today please.

@globalhiker ~ looking to reset as well. I've had a great weekend but it's time for a little self care as you state. Enjoy your hike.
AF today! Happy Sunday, everyone!

It’s good to know we all need a reset now and then @globalhiker and @itladyee! A hike sounds like a perfect U-Turn towards self-care.
I had so much activity and exercise this week (including logging 7 miles yesterday) that I had over two glasses of red wine last night on a NA day. So, definitely taking today as a reset opportunity and creating a plan for next week. Awareness is everything! AF today! Take good care of yourself this week.

I'm in for a reset as well. I've had four days in a row of heavy wine drinking and that needs to stop NOW!
I'm going to go to the kitchen right now and plan out what herbal tea I'll be having tonight 🍵

Never let your Monday ruin your Sunday!
I'm finding abstaining this time to be pretty easy. Probably because I've been down this road more times than I care to admit but I haven't been subjected to the peer pressure to drink. I'm ready to deal with the usual suspects that will pressure me to go along for the ride!

AF-5Tomorrow will be a busy day. Thanks, @xbowhunter, for the reminder to not let my Monday ruin my Sunday.

Had my mezcal tonight while listening to DarkWave on SiriusXM, my Sunday night ritual. Paced myself a bit better, so that's good.
Found out one of my neighbors has dementia. I don't know her well, but it still weighs on me.
Three jars of grain are nicely colonized with mycelium, so tomorrow I'll be moving them into substrate, should get my first flush soon and even without considering what that means for getting back into my microdosing regimen, it's just cool to see that I can grow something. Maybe I should try some culinary varieties, as well.

This week, I'll probably think about cutting back to just Sunday.

Bigelow Whispering Wildflowers herbal tea last night. This afternoon, when the wine urge hits, I'll go to my tea box and pick out self-care tea for tonight. If I leave the physical packet on my desk, it'll be a nice visual reminder rather than my just thinking it in my head and having to argue with the wine devil about it.

My first alcohol test is coming up.
It's our Canadian Thanksgiving weekend and have a family dinner to attend that is usually filled with multiple glasses of wine. I plan to have none and for once I won't have to worry about getting a DUI on the way home… :)
Cheers!

Ooof what a weekend! It was a GREAT weekend - little getaway with my family to the mountains. Decisions were made for both food and alcohol and not all of them great, but it's definitely a balance because the times were so good.
However, today is a new day and I feel more determined than ever to stick with my original goals…next stage gate is Halloween - need to drop 6 lbs this month and 5 more next month to hit my Thanksgiving goal.
I don't share much on here but I want to acknowledge out loud that in general, alcohol is the main thing keeping me from my goals. This is not news to me nor is it in the form of a grand epiphany, but between the the calories in the drinks themselves and the additional poor snack decisions, my weekends pretty much destroy all the work I do during the week. Planning to stay dry for the next few days.

No wine last night and pre-committing for today. I feel great this morning and want to accomplish a lot before a lifelong friend arrives Wednesday for a visit.
A big shout out to everyone who made the decision to meet your LA / AF goals yesterday. Group think really does work!
I had the very same herbal tea last night, @SparkSpringtime69 - Very calming.
Great idea to place it on the counter for visibility.6 -
Okay, I feel good this morning, my Garmin Instinct scored my sleep 88/100. (I've never scored 100, dunno if it's possible.) I'm not hung over. In fact, I bounced out of bed so ready to go that I forgot to weigh in before breakfast. Ugh….LOL if that's my biggest complaint for the morning, I'm off to a good start. So yeah, shooting for a six day streak this time. That almost inherently means nothing hard next Sunday, so a bit of a change of pace.

Work was rough today. I have a deputy project manager who doesn’t understand our client due dates that we are contractually obligated to meet or exceed!🤦🏻♀️ I submitted our reports 5 minutes late because of him; but they’re submitted.
Ordered dinner for my daughter and MIL. Husband and son are eating out because they’ve been working all day. I had leftover shrimp and grits. Weigh-in didn’t go well this morning, and I don’t understand why.🙁 I was under my calorie goal for the week. Though I didn’t walk everyday, I deep cleaned my kitchen on Saturday and walked on Sunday. I’m hoping it’s water weight because my hands have been feeling swollen, I’ve been downing the water today. So, I’ll weigh again in the morning to see if there’s an approvement.

@NonnieDoiron I’m sure it’s either water weight or some inflammation. It should go away in no time! You’re doing all the right things.
@globalhiker it’s really hard to find a great low alcohol wine. But, only one more ounce of LA equals one regular glass. So, it’s a good way to start drinking again, even though we all think we’re cutting back. NA wines are just pitiful, sadly. You got this!Last weekend on the boat, ans I’m really proud of myself for drinking less than I normally do! Tomorrow we have to get everything off the boat and do a number of systems things before she comes out of the water on Friday.
I was AF tonight! I did want some, not going to lie, but the feeling passed. Plan to be AF through Wednesday!
