Appetite Supressants

I was on phentermine through a doctor and I loved it. I had soooooo much more energy. I stopped taking it however because I couldn't afford the monthly visits to the doctor to get them and I hated how down i felt when I didn't take them. Does anybody use any of the appetite suppressants from GNC or else where? Which ones work or is it pointless to use them?

The best appetite supressant I've ever taken is protein.

yeah, try something like increasing protein first and see if you can supress your appetite without a stimulant or medication!!

I'll second that. To anyone struggling with huge appetites I would urge just trying low carb for a couple of days. By all means still eat plenty of veg and salad but cut out all sugar and starchy food while upping your protein. It's incredible what an appetite suppresant it is.

The "amphetamine" effects of phentermine aren't matched by OTC supplements. You're better off trying to generate energy without them. Try working out with higher intensity.

Costly, with increased energy and a down feeling when you go off it? Sounds like methanphetamines....

Oh, because appetite suppressants are basically just. like. methanphetamines, that's right!

Eat a protein, fiber, and carb at each meal. It will strech your feeling of fullness for a long time.

    That's because it's a low dose speed.
Ironically enough I have more energy when I exercise at least 4 times a week. I also eat better when I am exercising. Of course it's a personal decision, but I would recommend non artificial ways of controlling my appetite. In the long run it's much healthier for you.

Please take this as kindly as it's meant.

The reason you felt down after stopping was because these tabs are addictive and you were experiencing withdrawal. I'm shocked that these things are still being prescribed. They simply do not fix your weight problem. They're a crutch that creates a particular illusion. But that illusion doesn't put *you* in control of your life. And if you really want to lose weight in a sustainable way, you need to feel that you are in charge of what happens to your body - not some pill that magics your appetite away.

    Please take care.

Yes. And fat will help keep you feeling satisfied longer. Fiber will keep it all moving along.

Phentermine felt good when you were on it and icky when you weren't because it's prescribed speed. Try eating super healthy and working out like a mad woman - you'll be glad you did!

yes...i laughed at this one too :)

I was fully aware that phentermine is an amphetamine (it actually popped my random drug test at work as positive o.O). I was reluctant to take it, but at that point, i was desperate. At that point, it was no longer a vanity thing..i was just tired of always feeling sick, and hurting and not being able to breath. I had actually dropped over 30 pounds just by switching up how i ate completely and by going to the gym 5 days a week before I even started the phentermine. People that were helping me out along the way have now lost interest because weight loss isnt as important as it is to me. Which is why I am really glad i found this sight. And to everybody that made comments trying to shield my feelings...I am perfectly ok with tough love. Any and all suggestions are appreciated and do not fall upon deaf ears.

Thank you to everybody who posted on this!! :D

Good then here's some..................go to bed earlier or possibly change your workout. Usually the tired feeling comes on IMO from boredom of workout or lack of rest. Try those first.
  • both my hubby and my bro in law were taking phentermines....the days they did not take them...MOODY!!! i mean.... unbearably moody. me and my sis-in-law could not stand to be around them. they were having withdrawals from heck! i had no idea what they'd do to people. i believe it when i hear they are like meth. insanity! i agree with the upping your protien. it really does do wonders for your appetite!

You should tell that to the person who was having people help her justify eating a brownie.

Appetite suppressants - lots of quality protein, exercise (seriously, it curbs my appetite for a couple of hours afterwards), quality time with someone special. Pick whichever is readily available.

A good natural appetite suppressant is Apple Cider Vinegar. Take 2-3 teaspoonfuls, and that should definately help. Also chewing gum is a great one too
