Sounds like the final planning is coming together! I can sense your anticipation, but mostly excitement. And we're excited for you! Breathe. Know:
"All shall be well, and all will be well, and all manner of things shall be exceedingly well!"
Big hugs!

Awe thanks for the kind words friend! I like that my hair is so short on sides, around my ears and neck, that nightly its just a matter of a hot washcloth on face, ears, and neck to tidy myself. I am really picky about having squeaky ears.😁 Especially because I wear glasses and behind my ears can accumulate oils and such.
Ooh ice on the deck, already! I'm not ready! Well with all these fall themed new clothes I kinda am! Did I show you my new slippers?
Teddy bears, and fluffy insides. Like walking on clouds.💖. Wal-Mart specials.🙃
Big hugs!

I found my engagement ring and can fit it on a finger!
Its Pink coral roses, pearls and husband had sent it to me after he had proposed from Hawaii when his ship was in port there. We had met a couple months before, when he was on leave in Portland. We had gone on a date, and vacationed a weekend at Lincoln City on the coast.💖

Thanks to all for wishing us Canadians a Happy Thanksgiving 😊
And the cooking begins before 8am- only to be eaten in 20 minutes 🤦🏻♀️ The apple cream cheese cupcake recipe made way more than 12. Made 6 more with blueberries and going to freeze them. On to the haystacks. I kept dreaming that I had forgotten to put the turkey to cook. We are having 5 guests and I asked them to please not bring any food, there is too much. They usually don’t listen.
A little snow here yesterday but much more a couple of hours south of us. We really could use it.
Was going to do the first workout in my 6 week series then I gave my head a shake remembering all I had to do today. I’ll get 10,000 steps in just with the cooking and tidying up. It calls for 3 strength training sessions a week so I’ll go Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday this week. Swimming was wonderful. Only me and one other woman swimming lengths. I did 30 minutes.
Lanette- I forgot to comment on your Louis Riel ask. Years ago we went to a family reunion on my MILs side which confirmed the Métis heritage. The family was traced back to Gabriel Dumont, a Métis who fought alongside Louis Riel and was an advocate for the Métis but he was never as highly recognized, although there are bridges, schools, and landmarks named after him. It was pretty cool to see their genealogical lineage. My dad has tried to follow ours. My grandparents on both sides emigrated from the Ukraine. Difficult to do as the spelling of their names was often changed when they arrived. Also, my grandparents never wanted to speak about where they came from. They weren’t treated well as immigrants. My one great aunt told me a few things but their history is lost.
Your IT capabilities are impressive. Honestly I am lost at some of your descriptions 🤷🏻♀️ And yes, that chicken recipes sounds delicious but a little naughty 😉Lisa- what beautiful transformations! Everything looks so crisp and new.
Barbara- hope you can get yourself fixed up. It’s difficult trying to stay upbeat with chronic pain. I hope you can find some good help. Also- interesting about the poison oak leaves. Never would have guessed burning them would have such consequences.
Rebecca- that soup looks so good. My husband would love it.
Heather- “cruelly bright” bathroom… BAHAHAHA. I have one mirror in my bedroom where the lighting is very soft and some days I think- not looking too bad. Then I go into the bathroom 😟 I hate travelling because I hate packing! Always end up taking way too much. Your wardrobe sounds fun.
Machka- glad to hear the weather is improving for you and you’re able to get outside. The winds sounded really scary. Windy here but nothing compared to what you had. Just making things colder.
Barbie- “You can do it all but you can’t do it all at once” 💙 As my kids would say when they were younger- True dat. Thanks for the reminder.
Cheesecakes just came out of the oven:
Fingers crossed they’re baked enough. Always hard for me to tell with cheesecake. And why do I always try a new recipe when having company?!
Have a lovely day all,
Melanie, Alberta

Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends!
Lisa … your reno work looks great!
Carol … thinking of you and your husband. Is your husband's health improving while in the hospital? Are you taking care of yourself? Hugs and prayers.
Allie … praying your surgery tomorrow is successful. Rest quietly.
Lanette … the mattress situation was NOT resolved to our satisfaction. Company came out and measured the trough being created in the bed and deemed it 3/4 of in inch too shallow to meet warranty guidelines. He told us to hang in there though, there's a 10 year warranty and eventually the trough will meet their standards and warrant a replacement. I'm sure that's a pro-rated warranty though. Bottom line. We hate the bed but for the most part we're sleeping without pain. Not expending any more energy on it at this time.
We are finally over the crud. Went to church yesterday but still kept my distance from people. Guidelines say we're not contagious, but I'm a worry-wart about stuff like that. I wouldn't have gone at all but had a commitment to fulfill after the service.
We went on a long drive yesterday after church to view the leaves. It was a beautiful day. Thought to visit Letchworth State Park. We've been there many times before and knew the leaves would be at peak. What we didn't consider is that everyone in the area would have the same idea (chalk it up to covid fog). We didn't even bother trying to get into the park (traffic at a standstill a mile out), but turned around and took another scenic route home. Driving around the countryside seems to be one of my husband's and my favorite activities.
Planning to visit my mom this afternoon. I'm waiting for a pumpkin pie to finish baking (husband's birthday dessert for tonight). I haven't seen her in two weeks and she's been getting antsy to see me.
Have a great day!

- again, love that Lucy. Isn't it amazing how she joined your family at just the right time? I'm tempted to say some angels were at work. She brings you great comfort and joy. Good luck with your son's situation next week. Hope things work out and ease your worry.😊Lanette😎
my psychiatrist said the same thing! Lucy did come at the right time. Lucy laying across my gut trying to get me to get up! 🤣
This is the Massachusetts law for mandatory rehab:
Section 35: The Process and criteria | Mass.gov
And this is the RI law:
Involuntary Commitment in Rhode Island: Process and Legal Rights - LegalClarity
Unfortunately, I have to deal with both states as my son has an order in RI to get treatment that he is not obeying. He is living in MA, I think, so need both states to be involved. I've sent an email to the RI courts for help figuring this out.
On top of this, my air conditioner died yesterday (still gets in the 90's here during the day) AND another piece of equipment called and inverter, which runs our fridge and most lights went out. I've ordered both replacements to an unexpected $1500 bill. My DH says he can replace both, the inverter will be easy, I'm not so sure about the air as that is on the roof of the RV. Sigh…..
And now a distraction:

Allie - I know it’s not ideal, but I’m glad to see you are in the hospital being taken care of. Will you need help when you get home from the hospital?
Heather - When do you leave on the cruise, it must be coming right up isn’t it?
Kylia - I am always amazed that you are able to work with and live with your husband. I don’t think that’s something could do anymore. I have done it, in the past but it was a lot and we weren’t side by side.
I hope you have a better day today.Lisa - I am working around in my head how to rearrange and make it comfortable for all of us here. If there is anyway I can do it, I’m keeping Rodger’s mom here. I need to make a proper room for her though which means losing my craft room. It’s tight quarters for sure.
Machka - It so nice to hear you were able to be outside for a bit. When I was in NB, I didn’t realize how much I miss the outdoors and the woods.
Carla - I never thought about not signing the cards.
Barbie - I think it’s wonderful how you’re living your life exactly as you wish.
Lanette - our deck stairs were slippery yesterday. I don’t know how we’ll handle that yet with Rodger’s mom. We have a lot of decisions to make, but I’m not putting pressure on her this week to make any decisions.
I’m actually quite nervous leaving her here in the house alone while we go to work, but without our jobs I can’t do anything to help her.We are doing our big Thanksgiving dinner today. Brodey had to work last night so this was the only opportunity to get everyone together.
We went to Kaitlyn’s yesterday so she could make pies with her Grammie. They made 15 cherry tarts, 15 lemon meringue tarts, a lemon meringue, graham cracker, apple and 2 pumpkin pies, and 2 small apple crumbles. I don’t know who is going to eat it all, but they had great fun doing it.
We have a ham and turkey in cooking now. The dressing is all made, I’m waiting to get other stuff together after Lauryn and Kaitlyn come.Beth - my friend and her husband are having a terrible time finding a mattress that helps both of them. It’s funny, he asked me how I slept on the mattress in their spare room. I told him it was great, he said maybe we should bring that mattress down to our bed. She said, it was ours. 😂
Rodger has frozen shoulder and my back and hips are hurting since I returned home. I think we need a new mattress. I took well over 100 pictures of trees in NB. I’m homesick again all ready.
I paid for an Apple TV subscription last night so we could watch George and Tammy, then I had to buy the series. 😂 While we were watching that, Mom told me how much she enjoyed Coal Miners Daughter. I would have had to pay to rent it, so ordered the DVD. I had bought it for Lauryn a couple years ago but she couldn’t find it to bring out today.
I can’t believe I have to go back to work tomorrow already.

MFP Weekly Check-In 10-13-25
Sue in WA - Didn't get to all of my exercise classes this week but did manage to average over 5000 steps per day. Lost about 2 pounds this week, I'm sure most of it is water weight after vacation although I have been eating better. I am finding that I do better with smaller meals more often. That may have something to do with my hiatal hernia.
Lanette in SW WA – No real changes lately so I'm a broken record. Weight staying in range. Logging most days. Average daily steps this past week: 7356, down a smidge from last week. Discontinuing early morning walks outside right now due to cold and/or wet, walking in house 15 minutes, carrying weights, instead. Still walking after most meals, carrying weights. Still averaging SWSY 3X per week.

Happy Monday, young ladies!
It is funny how when I was younger, I used to cringe at being called a young lady. I associate that term with being in trouble or dealing with someone strict. I am still catching up. I wanted to check on Carol and Allie.
Carol, are you coming home, or are you staying in the hospital with DH? Either way, take a break and get some puzzle books, and good books to read. Bring something that you and DH would like. Soft blanket and /or a good pillow for him. Cushions for sitting in their chair. Take walking breaks while listening to music or audiobooks. It has been a while, so you may need to pay bills. We all miss and love you. Take care of yourself, Carol.
Allie, I know you did get to bring your overnight stuff. In the future, keep a bag packed with toiletries, comfortable clothing, and/or pillows. Please bring your own entertainment, like I told Carol. It will keep you from worrying about the outside world. Call Tracey or Tom and see if they can pack some stuff for you.
Everyone, as we get older, it is essential to keep a hard copy of the medication list and a list of diagnoses with you at all times. We need to get a living trust/Will and legal POA, and an Advance directive. Like I want to be an organ donor. I have an electronic record in My Chart. I need to have a POA, and so forth. I like Baby Suko if DH doesn't agree to my wishes or if I outlive him. I am older than he is by 2years and 1 month and 6 days.:) I am going to deal with this mild all-day headache.
Thank goodness it is not as bad as the other ones I had. I need to catch up on my sleep. One morning, I didn't clock out till 9:00 am. I need to ask for help. I got out an hour earlier, because I asked for help and I had one less patient. I had a supposedly nonverbal 3-year-old who was clearly saying everything I said. He cried every time I left the room. I kept telling him no, we are going to be safe. So he said bye to me and to "be Safe!"😊 His mom said that she loved the way I spoke to him. She said that was the clearest his speech has ever been. He was laughing too. He is autistic, I found out later. My other patient has brain cancer and is very sick. Her mom was with her, but was telling me that she was bored. Then, my mom told me that she wants her daughter not to use Pampers. She wants her to walk to the restroom. She is too weak to get out of bed. Mom lost custody because she did not bring her daughter in for chemotherapy and radiation treatment. All that mom does is primp.
The last patient decided to spike a temp and had a seizure. She is 5. We are also taking turns holding a baby that is all alone. He was in a car accident where the baby's mom was killed. The EMT was cleaning up everything before they left and heard a sound. All that time, they were dealing with the mom and didn't realize there was a baby in a car seat under the car. Internally decapitated. It is all so sad. While we are dealing with that, our toddlers are learning to take themselves off the ventilator. The alarms are going off constantly. It is overstimulating sometimes. I don't get a chance to take a lunch break because of the overwhelming tasks that need to be done. Sorry, I talk a lot. I am going to lie down.XO

Mo that happened to a four year old daughter of someone I worked with at one of the schools I worked at. They too were in a car accident. The mother survived. Her culture was amazing. The women sat in a big circle and those closest to her sat right next to her. The woman brought food and took care of her and her family. It was such a tragedy. They were rear ended on the freeway.
If you do not want to to incubated or revived do not call an ambulance. You need to have a signed order by a doctor otherwise they will intervene. The advanced directive you may have filled out with your will and or trust will not be honored. Here if you die alone they will do an autopsy to rule out foul play and figure out cause of death. to put on the death certificate.

Barbie – what are the names of those books?
Sad as this may be...I actually mentioned to Vince that it might be time to bring in the ceramics. J can still use the hot tub, she doesn’t need the ceramics to do that.
Rebecca – I love your slippers.
Melanie – my grandparents came here from Poland and they almost never spoke about life over there. I remember as a kid my grandmother wouldn’t even walk into the living room if I had Hogan’s Heroes on the TV. The fact that the show mocked the Nazi’s didn’t matter.
Beth – you’re kidding that they measured the bed! Happy Birthday to your husband
the guy was here about the deck. I do have to say that he’s being thorough, not wanting to do a sloppy job. I gave him the blueprints for the house, but there are still questions. It seems for one thing that in order to put in the bolts to the house, they have to tear down part of the ceiling (ours is a sheetrock ceiling, not a drop ceiling which he thought it was. Tear down, put the bolts in, then they have to repair the ceiling.
Then Jess called saying that Vince had a hard day so why don’t we have pizza? I suspect the real reason is that she forgot to take the dinner out of the freezer. At first she was going to order it. I still remember $53 for two pizzas. So in the end I wound up going to Aldi to get pizza from them. Vince wanted pineapple on his so I had to get some chunk pineapple and J wanted me to get pepperoni for C. I’ve never had to look for pepperoni and had no idea where in the store it was. I finally had to ask someone. I’m not a pizza eater, to me it’s not a meal. An accompaniment but not a meal. So I had some sardines. To me, this was far better than the pizza anyway. Of course, Jess didn’t like the fact that I didn’t care for pizza so I made something else for myself. It’s weird, she doesn’t seem to have a problem making a separate dinner for Vince. At least she did put the toppings on the pizza. She did clean up. But there was a measuring cup in the sink, she didn’t wash that. I guess she felt she didn’t have to since she didn’t use it. Really, it wasn’t a big deal to clean up.

Tracey - Your tiny little mother-in-law looks very much at home. So glad she and Kaitlyn had that chance. How does she feel about staying? And how's Rodger doing with all this? So many questions, but don't answer if it's too much.
Mo - I genuinely don't know how you do your job—I could not…
Beth - Thank you! I'm so sorry the bed experience has been so bad.
Rita - I'm sorry about the decisions you're having to make for your son. Your ability to continue to find humor in the world around you is strength in and of itself.
Machka - Sorry, dear heart! I conflated your time spent inside due to the weather with the time before it when you were cocooning trying to get over your illness! Glad you're feeling better and hope the spring weather gets better soon.
Heather - You're nearly on your way!
Allie - Thinking about you and your surgery tomorrow. Hope all goes well!
Got some writing done today, and I was able to pick up a router attachment for my Dremel so I got the woodwork done, routing the wood out of where the hinges need to be inset, but using a tool that weighed maybe a pound and a half, rather than one that weighed eight pounds. Same result, effort that fit within my limitations.
Plus I was able to talk Corey into carrying the flat pack bookshelf to the guest bedroom so I don't have to walk it back there one piece at a time from the carport. Far too heavy for me to lift in the box. I
l look forward to putting it together, because it will cause a sort of cascade of furniture - with books out of the buffet, I can move the buffet back to the exercise room, thereby putting more storage in there, plus a place to put the TV from my craft room that I seldom watch to pick up YouTube exercise and/or music videos to exercise by, which frees up space in my craft room… and on and on. You get the picture. I think Heather called it "shopping your own rooms."
But first, I'll get the bookshelf put together tomorrow, and see how much energy I have left after that!
Later, my chicks,

I bought that crunchy garlic oil but haven't tried it- is it really hot? I am not a fan of really hot food.
I also bought a few new things to try in a stir fry- one is fried tofu that is cut thin, like noodles. Have sprouts, mushrooms, lotus root, Napa cabbage. May cook some actual chow mein noodles to add to it.
I made sukiyaki a few days ago- second time making it. Dh loved it so much- actually got a little kiss from him!!-I guess the second time was as good- no kiss but, he actually ate left overs of it two different times- He never eats leftovers twice especially not two days in a row. His mom always made if for him so glad I can make it for him now- It takes a lot of time but worth it.Debbie

Thanks, I am actually 11 months OLDER than Jack.
Years ago, our neighbor friend was clearing brush, including poison oak and burning it. He ended up getting a terrible rash from it down his throat from breathing in the smoke- He ended up in the hospital from it.
It is very pretty this time of year but learned when I was a very little kid to stay away from it. Thankfully we had none on the property where mom still lives. We did have a little, if I remember right, but that was about 55yrs ago, at the old house.7 -
A suggestion for your dh for help with his frozen shoulder- Do the PT exercises IN the hot shower after he gets it warmed up. That made such a big difference for me. Now, if I feel it getting stiff, I get in that hot shower and move that sucker around as much as possible. I waited too long before finding out what was wrong(that is when I had to have that MRI to see if it was torn or frozen)and it ended up completely frozen, no movement at all.

Machka - Sorry, dear heart! I conflated your time spent inside due to the weather with the time before it when you were cocooning trying to get over your illness! Glad you're feeling better and hope the spring weather gets better soon.
💖 The weather turned bad at the beginning of September at the same time I got sick. That was all right because I don't like being sick when the weather is good.
Around the end of winter (beginning of September), the Roaring 40s circle the earth in a latitude range that takes in southern mainland Australia and Tasmania.
As the weather gets warmer, the latitude range shifts southward until, eventually, the Roaring 40s travel south of Tasmania.
Sometimes the weather warms up fairly quickly and the windy season is relatively short. Other times the cool weather lingers on and the windy season goes on and on.
Last year, and this year to a greater extent, we're going through the latter … the cool weather is lingering and so is the wind. And the wind is fierce and destructive! It's like small hurricanes blowing through every few days. Last weekend, the wind set records in several places in Tasmania.
As much as I love cycling, I'm not keen on doing battle against 70-90 km/h gusts. Walking and gardening or doing anything outdoors isn't nice in those conditions either. 😕
And bad weather makes me feel tired, lethargic, and unmotivated. 😕
But since I recovered from the flu (or whatever) in mid-September, it's been full speed ahead at work. I've been putting in longer hours and some extra hours here and there.
Plus I'm working on a few projects for my cycling club.
Plus I'm trying to get our house organised finally. It takes time and living with the house a while before we decide how we want to use it. Over the past couple months, I have got the living room side of our main room pretty much set up and have made a lot of headway in the scary room (home office). 🙂
Meanwhile, my husband is trying to get the sheds and backyard in order. 🙂
I'd like us to be out of the storage unit by the end of the year, but the wind has to die off for that.

Good Tuesday!
Yesterday DH was somewhat better. Only one comment about me treating him like luggage....I asked my great niece to take him home so I didn't have to rush to my appointment. She lives next door! I told him he wasn't luggage but sone things just need to male sense. Like why am I driving past where I need to go to get him home when she is already going there. I have ridden many times with here and trust her driving. Now, if it was our oldest granddaughter.…I would have to drive. She still makes me nervous!
Anyway, Machka, I feel you on the long winter. Right now i am trying to be thankful for the rest that winter brings my plants, but man I really dislike doing things on the dark and cold evenings. Stay safe!
Got busy and forgot check in. My scale not happy up a pound. So frustrating, but walking more and still watching what I eat. It will be a better week eating as I went to store after massage last night. $500 for groceries! Okay some was vitamins and toilet paper, but ouch! The good side is I saved $106! Chicken breast packages were buy 2 get two free. Most of that was dairy, fruits, and veggies. Put it away once home, but need to prep for today.
Broadway tonight! Going to see The Notebook. I haven't seen the movie or read the book.
Healing thoughts!
Hugs held extra long!
Encouragement as we ate doing the best we can! Keep taking those little steps!
Much love,

Tracey, I love the thought of people being able to pass my love forward! And some even tell me who they send my card to. It's such an honor. ❤️ I'll FB message you the poem I include.
Again friends, if you want one of my cards, send me a friend request and then message me your address and dates. It's my passion.

MIchele My mom did not watch WWll movies. It was such a stressful time in her life with my dad up in Alaska fighting. She lost a baby and she said that is when her teeth went bad I went to a talk at the church where I grew up with my mom. It was about how we treated the POW in our country. We had them work on our farms and gave them tokens so they could buy extra things for themselves. My mom and her friends had mixed feelings about it because they knew if their husbands ended up as POW they would not be treated so well. It was a good strategy because when peace came a foundation was laid to help us move forward in a positive way.
If I send a card I think would be nice to pass on I write a note on a post-it-note so it gives the recipient the choice to resend it. I have a friend of over 40 years who has been making cards like yours who sends me a Christmas card every year and an occasion one throughout the year. They are wonderful cards. Like others here I am working hard to have less coming in and more going out so thank you for offering to send cards. Right now I will decline the offer. I don't send as many as I used to so I have a stock pile of cards waiting for the right situation to send them.

Thanksgiving has come and gone. The meal was good, including the cheesecakes. I made dinner bun dough in my bread maker and it was awful. Edible buns but blech. I did hit 14,500 steps yesterday without leaving the house. I told my husband that I could never be a caterer. Cooking is ok but not all day long.
Scale is creeping upward for me. All my fault. Just eating too much, especially junk with carbs and sugar. I am not comfortable at this weight. I want to feel good mentally and physically. What I am eating will not get me what I want. Such a simple idea but lately so hard to carry through with ☹️ I have been researching why this is. It’s not discipline but changing the pathways rooted in our subconscious. Mine developed when I started dieting and severely restricting at 15. My brain responded by pushing me to binge as it does like being hungry and possibly on the road to starvation. I understand this and it completely makes sense but it is like trying to break down a concrete wall with your fist. I am working on it. I am so very tired of living with this disordered eating. It is exhausting emotionally and physically. I wish I had never started that first diet. Seemed like fun with my mom and sister. It was WW I believe. If I only knew where it would lead me 😔Rebecca- what a gorgeous ring. So unique. My engagement ring was very unique but was stolen off of my dresser during a 4H meeting in our home. My wedding band was soldered to it so lost both. Pretty sure I knew who took it. I now wear my mom’s ring. She passed on to me after her death.
Lisa- I use a Dremel to cut casts off of calves legs. The tip is short enough to get through the casting material but not long enough to get through the cast padding so the leg is safe. True cast cutters are too expensive.
Kylie- Broadway!! Never been but it is on my bucket list. I went to several shows in London when I worked there one summer in my early 20s. I loved them. Have fun 🤩
Take care of yourselves,Melanie, Alberta

Good morning!
Celebrating this morning — I had blood drawn yesterday, and my eGFR was 45!!! That's almost 10 points higher than it was in July. My other numbers were amazing, too. I am so encouraged.
Praying especially for you today, Allie. I hope your surgery goes well and gives you relief.
Praying for you, Carol. Take care of yourself.

Hey, y'all,
Just popped in for a second - I'm going to change my clothing and put on some extra deodorant so I don't actually smell funny 'cause I need to run into town.
I got the bookshelf put together, but didn't get anything moved back there yet, 'cause I called and found out the gal that cuts my hair is there this morning, so I'm going to head down there finally and get it cut. It always takes me about a month after I finally decide it needs doing.
It took me an HOUR just to unpack that flat pack bookshelf. There was so much cardboard of all shapes and sizes! So before I put it together, I had to haul that outside to burn later. It would have seriously overflowed my empty garbage rolling bin.
Allie - thinking about you, dear. Hope the surgery is quick and very successful and the recovery is swift and pain-free.
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa5
