New interface comments

Where to start?

My dashboard is gone. The new "home" page shows half of what it used to and looks like it was coded with an AI tool.

Weight is now hidden behind one of two "progress" menu options

Premium customers, who pay, have lost a menu option to some ridiculous meal planner that you want us to pay more for. Why are you penalizing your paying clients?

No ability to copy meals anymore. Why?

Can I get a prorated refund? It's just the pits.

And why no announcement that it was coming? I'm sure its because its subpar. Maybe sell it back to Underarmour? At least they didn't break what wasn't broken

I’m with you @mbr15580! I am struggling with the new update…HATE IT! Not only that but the “complete logging” is gone now too! I loved that because I have had issues with an eating disorder in the past and getting the message that I did not eat enough calories was super helpful for me.

I may have to go elsewhere. That nonsense with the menu really ground my gears as well. 🤬

I use the meal planner on a daily basis, and find it extremely useful - that in itself is worth the money. Love the fact it has an interactive shopping list which only leaves the items you need to get.

I think I can cope with the layout, but don't like the fact that they've changed the calorie consumption to show how much has been used rather than what is left to use for the day. Please bring that back.

The new layout is absolutely terrible. This app is getting worst with every update. There's no flexibility regarding the macros, so I have to use 3 other external website to get my macros correct. Now I can't see what I've eaten for each meal instantly. You are creating more steps in my weight loss process, which isn't easy. The quick delete or move feature has been removed too. I appreciate that your designer want to prove their value with these updates to keep themselves in work but it's not helping me as an user. Only the Lord knows what trashy update you'll create next. 😭😭😭😭

    • Copy food (one or multiple at the same time) from any day in the past to another date.
    • Swipe between days using left and right on the main/today page.

Seconding the request to bring back the ability to copy a meal from any day in the past! Sure, you made it easier to copy yesterday's meal, but more frequently I repeat a meal from last week, or a few days ago. Why delete such a useful functionality?

On the swiping, @Eric_E , they replaced the arrows for yesterday or tomorrow with a 7-day bullet line with today in the middle. You can click anymore the days to go right to it, rather than using the calendar drips on option.

@karinbee2528 , you can switch the calories view. If you click on the calorie count at the top of the food log main page, it toggles between calories left and calories consumed. ✨

I actually hate this update and feel like they’ve reduced the UI to be far more cumbersome and take far more taps to do simple tasks. My yearly subscription ends in March and I will not be renewing it. The least they can do is give users the option to use either interface or simply reverted it back to the old look and acknowledge that they got it wrong. Super disappointing change.

Upvoting. This new UI is clunky, slow, and missing preexisting functionality. Why are meals hidden away, only showing the first item unless you click on it and wait several seconds for another page to load? Literally no one asked for that. Can't swipe between days. Timestamps are missing or are getting rounded to the nearest 5 minutes. Can't copy meals. No bulk edit. Giant fonts and UI spacing is an accessibility option that is good for those that need it. The old compact UI shows all logged foods inline, and was perfect for me (and lots of others, judging by the community's overwhelming negative response to this update).

Please revert these changes or make them optional.

I hate it. Its no longer functional. Ive been a premium subscriber for years. I sent them a message and if they dont get back with me in 1 day, or if they dont fix it, im unsubscribing and deleting my account. This has become the worse garbage app ive used in a long time.

This is absolutely terrible. The interface is awful, super counter intuitive and it’s working badly. It doesn’t read well the log ins, doesn’t allow you to copy meals from one day to another, the info doesn’t show correctly… Just take it back. Perfect example of ruining something good with an unnecessary update.

Thanks for the day switching comment @mkksemail . I did see that but it's a clunky user experience, slow and most importantly, it only goes back a few days. Swiping left/right was intuitive and allowed you to go back as far as you wanted.

For everyone: My first "comment" in this thread was a separate post on the "Feature Suggestions and Ideas" Forum. Apparently MFP is moving posts and comments around without asking with the original poster (OP). I could come up with reasons good (having all related comments in one section?) or bad (trying to make things look not so bad by limiting threads with complaints?) for doing so, but the fact that you as the OP aren't even notified about this is another very bad user experience.

The only upside is that it does mean someone at MFP is reading this. Now the question is whether all these complaints reach people who make decisions…

I'll cancel my subscription this weekend if the app isn't fixed or improved as per my initial comment here:

Oh, that's interesting, Eric_E ! (moving posts). Thx for letting us know!

I hate it too. No copy meal feature is bs, and you used to be able to easily swipe between days (both of which I used a lot). It's also clunky and slow to load, slow to switch between days, and having to click into each meal to see things is annoying, moving or deleting things also takes more steps. My yearly subscription just renewed, I've been using this app daily for yrs, and tbh if this isn't fixed soon I'm going to be asking for a refund and finding something new. The diary page is the only part I really used before and it was user friendly, this new one is not at all, everything takes more steps and is less easily seen.

Spot on Eric_E. The new layout slows down my data entry by 3x and I can no longer get a comprehensive view of my daily meals. I am canceling my MFP membership when my subscription runs out. So disappointing!

The 7-day bullet is not the same. I could keep swiping left / right, now I have to press a different day at a different location. What was there was more convenient and usable.

My wife and I have been premium for multiple years now and all the other interface changes were tolerable. This latest update has made some features we were used to not possible and others are more cumbersome to perform. We also agree that without and update to enable the prior capabilities, we will also be canceling our paid subsciption.

I've received an app update overnight and hooray, it's back to the previous app/user interface. Everything suddenly works again.

I understand the drive to keep innovating but certainly appreciate rolling things back if it's clear it's not working. Maybe next time just ask users what they're really after and trial that with a test group first before rolling out an update across the board.

Wow that's great news! I'm still on the new diary UI. I'm on the MFP Pixel (Android) phone app. What platform are you in, @Eric_E ?

I'm on Android as well, Google Pixel phone. Based in Australia, maybe the rollback happens gradually per global region?

Fingers crossed that you are correct! I'm in the US, Maine (Eastern Time). I tried rebooting my phone, but still the old UI for me.

  • Eric_E
    Eric_E Posts: 7 Member

Instead of a reboot you can go into the Google Play Store, find MFP and see if there's an update available. Or go to the "Manage Apps and Device" option within your Google account (icon top right in Play Store) and see what updates are available.

Google Pixel phones tend to regularly check for updates all apps installed but there can still be a delay. I don't know if a reboot would trigger such an app version check.

Thx for that! No update pending for MFP at this time. Hopefully, as you say, it's a staggered rollout. I remain hopeful! :)

new update is so terrible, glad to see I am not the only one having issues. Cancelled my subscription this morning, recommend you do the same so maybe they will get the message and fix it.

Unfortunately my rollback to the old app was shortlived. I received another app update overnight and am now back on the absolutely terrible new app. No idea why I briefly got the old app back but now time for me to cancel my subscription as well after this disaster. Will have a look at alternatives such as Cronometer, Lose It and others.

And what's the problem with downloading the previous version of the application on Android and not updating to the latest or resign old Apk with new key so app won't update anymore without your participation? It's not Apple, where you need to make a backup of the old version in advance and then install it only through iMazing and similar applications. How the children screamed)

  • Eric_E
    Eric_E Posts: 7 Member

    Multiple challenges with that:

    • Downloading the previous version of the app - That's not an option in Google Play Store
    • Not updating to the latest version - Newer Android versions do automatic updates. Good practice in general, it's not their fault if the new app suddenly sucks.
    • Resigning old APK - First, requires the old package which you can't get. Second, resigning packages isn't a realistic option for anyone other than IT developers and admins who know how to do so. Third, depending on the signing might require the install of an "unknown app" which isn't something most people know how to do nor should they probably be doing so.

Obviously the best option would be if MFP just fixes their app or reverts back to the old one.

Try Lose It. That is what I switched to a few days ago because of this mess and so far I like it! It works pretty well.
