    @MercyRoth - Congrats!

@Kupla71 - I am sorry your not feeling well. How long were you on the meds for? I have heard the oral versions of semaglutide are not so great because of side effects, moreso than the subq injections. I have only done the injections . But its been a long long road for me. I am hoping to wean off by the end of the year . I am kind of tired of being a pin cushion. At the same time if I have to I am willing to do micro dosing so I don't "blossom" off the medication.

So Sunday I had a pretty lazy day and did some baking in the afternoon. Monday we got 4 inches of snow. That was annoying. My work day was busy as the one lady is out for the week ( again) and the afternoon I had to take my horse in to the vet for a diagnosis on his leg injury. Good news. No tendon or ligament issues, which means I don't have to keep him confined . HUGE RELIEF. I can turn him back out in his pasture . The Vet thinks it might be a flare up of cellulitis. I am not totally sure because that usually triggers from a cut on the leg where bacteria gets in and there is no evidence of any cuts or abrasions. Its going to be a watch and wait. I may have to put him on a round of antibiotics but in the meantime, I have to keep him wrapped daily for a bit yet. Atleast he can be turned out. I was so relieved and we tore down the temporary stall in the barn last night.

I did manage a 20 minute walk on the treadmill and then a few upper body weights. I need to start that strength class soon but as much as I hate to say it, I am feeling like I am coming down with another cold or my sickness is back for round 2.God help me. I started feeling congested yesterday and coughing again all night.

@HappyDonkey75 I was on the meds for about a year with no real weight loss. My doctor said the oral med is not as effective as the injections. I might start ozempic in November. I’ve tried it before without much success but I thought I would give it another try. Do you find that the injections leave marks/scars on your skin? I still have scars from the last time I was on ozempic. I used alcohol wipes on the injection site and rotated the injection site etc but still got scars.

Hi @Seniorliving - Welcome to the group! πŸŽ‰ It’s awesome that you’ve already made progress with losing weight, and there are likely a few of us that understand the challenges of dealing with yo-yo dieting. You’ve got a great goal in mind, and I hope seeing how others in the community are handling their own weight-release journeys helps you to keep moving forward.

@Michieb125- Happy Birthday - I didn't log on yesterday so a bit belated. Hope you had a wonderful day.

@MercyRoth - loving that number! Keep up the great work! I had to look back at my tracking and I hung out in the 170's FOREVER.. it was such a good feeling to get out of that range so I am cheering you on loudly over here!

@Kupla71 - that's unfortunate you didn't have any success with that amount of time being on the meds. I never got scars and still haven't had that issue. Guess I had too much fat to absorb it. :) (and I tend to scar based on history of surgery and such)

If you decide to go back on medication , maybe consider Mountjaro (which is the Tirzepitide) It is WAY more effective than Ozempic (semaglutide) because it activates two receptors, GIP and GLP-1. Do some googling around , lots of info out there that gets into the science of why when the two receptors are activated, things start humming in the weight loss area mcuh better as well as less side effects. I lost the majority of my weight on Tirz .Plus you also get the benefit of improving any cardiovascular risk factors. My glucose and BP was starting to creep up and these days I sit around 100/68 for BP and My glucose is now in the safe zone (can't remember the number)

Sadly all my illness symptoms came roaring back. I have a call in to my physician and hope she calls me something in . This is ridiculous.

I am working out in spite of feeling under the weather. The workouts are not intense but I figure its atleast something. Last evening I did 5 quad /glute focused exercises with three sets each. Didn't push a ton of weight but enough to feel the burn. (which isn't taking much these days since I have lost some fitness)

Getting through any kind of workout is a battle right now because I just don't feel all that great, so its all about gritting my teeth and pushing through. I take my time and just get through it.

@HappyDonkey75 I am sorry to hear that you are having all the awful symptoms again, not fair!
Take care of yourself as best as you can right now. You sure have incredible steady weight loss since the beginning of the year. Kudos on your success!

Did a Les Mills BodyBalance gym class followed by a few weight machines and 10 mins on the treadmill afterwards, just because. Felt great…..it’s been awhile.

Thanks for cheering me on, I’m so glad I found this group. I’m not entirely sure what kicked me out of the plateau so I have to just keep doing my best. I had increased my water intake, I had three weeks with no insomnia, and I was staying strictly off the wheat so I had way less inflammation… but I didn’t change food or exercise. As for timing of food, for a few weeks in August I tried eating earlier so I would finish dinner by 7:30 but my weight actually went up a bit. So I’ve now gone back to eating dinner around 8:30. I still track calories most days just to keep it within reason. And I’m still on GLP-1 meds, that hasn’t changed. I experienced so much frustration on that plateau and I’m sure that won’t be my last one. But I’m glad things are moving again.

10/16- 148.2- Hay LOADING DAY, no workout
    10/18- 149

Yesterday we had our load of hay delivered which meant I spent 2.5 hours running the tractor , taking bales into the barn so my hubby could stack them. Gone are the days of me throwing around 75 lb bales. Then we had to go into town for a bunch of errands. So LST, I did not get a workout in. We had panera bread for an early dinner. Yep, I ate the bread and a small bowl of their mac and cheese πŸ™ˆ along with my salad.. I was craving comfort food I guess. I was good for breakfast and lunch though so hopefully it didn't throw me too much off course.

I am starting to get over this illness. I think. I finally gave up with trying to get anywhere with my primary care doctor . The last straw was Wed after being on the phone three times with the nurse triage requesting my doctor call something in for me , and finally on the third call being told that my doctor wasn't even in the office that day so nothing would have been done regardless. None of the previous nurses said ANYTHING about that. Then I got a call from them the next day, Thursday at 4:56 pm to call them back. Seriously? They waited all day and chose to call at the end of their shift, knowing that when/if I called back, they would be gone for the day. So very helpful.

I finally just called my telemedicine company through my work . Within 15 minutes, a doctor called me , ran through my symptoms, and agreed to give me a Z pack antibiotics and some nasal spray that is working wonderfully. My coughing has already decreased, I didn't have to drug myself with cough syrup last night before bed just to be able to sleep without hacking all night , and the chest congestion is noticeably improved. I am going to be looking for a new primary care doctor. I am so fed up with how I was treated. So much for this being a virus if this medication is seemingly helping.

I hope to sneak a trail ride in today with my hubby . Supposed to be nice fall day.

I’ll be home all next week, so I am planning low cal meals with lots of vegetables for the week ahead. A trainer once told me a long time ago how losing weight has more to do with reduction of portions over exercise. I think it could be different for many but yeah I do see loses when the calories are restricted (and no processed junk food).

@Michieb125- so true, you can't exercise your way out of bad diet.

I have learned that fitness isn't about motivation or having the perfect plan. its just about keeping the promise I made to myself long after the initial excitement and motivation feeling fade. We will all have our days of being tired, unmotivated , stressed, overwhelmed, but the only way to meeting that promise to myself is to follow through anyways.

Some of my mantras when I am struggling (like lately)

    • Consistency over moods, Discipline over comfort.
    • Perfection doesn't build results, persistence does.

Thanks for sharing your insight! And you’re absolutely correct about the importance of keeping promises to ourselves long after the initial excitement wears off. Life will always get in the way (of good habit building) but it’s our own choices that keep them going!

My weight fluctuations boggle my mind sometimes. I know not to get too excited about this number.

While I have been back to doing more consistent workouts but they aren't high intensity or barely enough to make me feel anything the next day post workout. To be quite honest, my strength workouts still suck as far as not being able to push as much weight as I was before September rolled around. I just feel weak and it doesn't help that I'm really having to force myself out to the workout room.

I don't know why I feel so unfocused with my workouts but I do. It might seem crazy but I think part of it is still the loss of my dog. He always came with me to the workout room and hung out while I did my thing. His bed out there just lays empty and it kills me. He was my motivation to go for a daily walk, he was my bright spot in my work day and now he's not here. His bed that I had at my bedside is now moved to the living room because it was too painful to see it empty and not be able to do our normal bedtime routine. I still listen for his soft snoring and breathing when I wake during the night but met with just silence. For a long time I would wake up and not see him there, proceed to mildly panic and get up to go look for him in the other part of the house before realizing he wasn't with us. That happened multiple times in the first couple weeks of him being gone. I thought moving his bed to the living room would help and maybe atleast the cats could use it but they haven't been. Grief over losing him is immense. My old lady dog continues to chug along. I am not near as bonded to her as she is my husbands dog so having her with is still really doesn't help ease my mind. don't get me wrong, I am grateful we still have her but she will be 16 years old (which is practically unheard of for a German shepherd) so she requires some extra care , requires meds daily , and overall is the reason we can't leave the house for more than a few hours at a time. Maybe my dog is keeping her going from beyond to save us from more grief too soon.
