Bring back old layout
The new version of the app is awful to use. It’s much harder to view and add items, and copying previous foods is a hassle. This change makes no sense, it’s a stupid update that ruins the user experience just for the sake of appearance.

the new update is awful and I am actively shopping around to replace this app. It’s safe because I’ve been a paying member for years.

I think some people have already received the update. Some have not.
My app was showing that I needed to update it in the Apple Store, but i was not about to do it until forced to, based on complaints from other long term, much trusted community members.
Strangely, it no longer shows I need to do an update, and nothing has changed for me (iOS app, obvs).
Maybe this means they’ve pulled the plug on updates for those who hadn’t updated yet til they get the multitude of issues and bugs worked out.

I've not updated the app in ages for exactly this reason; I think since they removed one specific feature that I hardly every use anyway. I get bugged to update every now and then but I just click it away. Actually, I've transferred this app version to my new phone without problems.

I subscribed to this app to track lose WEIGHT. It’s now become a nutrition focus tracking app. Finding out how much I’m losing is really cumbersome now and requires searching for it using multiple steps. I cancelled my subscription. I’m going to try and get Apple to issue a refund based on false advertising.

Weight is a very variable value and looking at the screen with the current weight several times a day looks extremely strange. Diet, physical activity, lifestyle - that's what you need to maintain on a daily basis, and on the screen with weight when opening the application. They looked at the weight once a week and then analyzed why it did not change or, on the contrary, the changes turned out to be significant. What is the point of the fact that today the weight is 1 kg more than yesterday, if the day before you ate a lot of salty or the same rolls? Or there was a hard workout with a lot of fluid loss, after which you just need to restore the water balance and that's it. This fluid loss does not affect the weight in the future and in a day or two the normal weight will return to normal. Or they ate more than planned all week, did not reduce food consumption, but every day we looked at the screen with the current weight. You make just some kind of Grail bowl out of the app, with which you will become slim and fit))

I agree! Terrible!!! I canceled my subscription and currently searching for a replacement!!!

To find the weight page you now need to go to progress, thr click more, the another progress button.
Can't we have it back on the main page? Surely the whole point of the app for most people is to track their eating to lose weight?

I’m surprised we don’t have a customizable dashboard anyway. Seems like that would be “expected” nowadays.
I have a Bluetooth scale with its own app and follow my weight there. Their graphs are trends are detailed and informative (even if some of the numbers are questionable, ie fat and muscle % etc, I feel like they do at least provide trends.)
In all the years I’ve been on MFP I’ve never looked at the weight graph here, unless I’ve clicked through by accident.

Did they delete the main feedback post about the new diary? Can't seem to find it anywhere, which is awfully convenient for MFP seeing as it was all negative feedback on the new design.

I think the feedback post was for the desktop diary layout, not for the new version of the app.

Agreed, I've just tried the new diary and even though its in beta, there is no improvement to existing functionality. All it is, is a re-skin that's missing macro tracking.
It'd be good to at least have a Quick Tool feature to copy from another meal in the same day, for example when having left-overs from lunch for dinner.

I totally agree, the new app layout is awful. I now can't quickly see sub-macros (e.g. fibre) on the main page if I also want to see the normal carbs, fat & protein, as the new layout will only display 3 things. I therefore have to dig through the menus.
The food diary is now very clunky, as you highlighted. If editing food timings, the 'use last time' function no longer works. If I want to edit a meal time, it would be far better to be able to edit the time of the whole meal, rather than its constituent foods.
If there had been something intrinsically wrong with the previous version I could understand updating it, bu this update seems to to serve no purpose other than making the app worse to use.

It's completely unusable at this point

I just want to submit feedback around the recently updated interface.
In general, it seems like it’s less of enhancement and more like a regression. Everything about it is worse, my opinion.
Simply it seems like it also takes more steps to log food, especially to set the time . I was able to previously if I remember set the time across my entire entire meal now I have to individually touch each item and change the time.
Overall, you should just revert to the previous interface. Everything was better in my opinion.1 -
’ve seen a lot of people say the same thing about the new update.
What do you think makes it feel worse — the design itself or the extra steps it takes to log food now?0 -
I hate the new interface, will not renew. It used to be so easy to add a meal from previous days in the week, but now you can ONLY add the meal from the day before - so for people who don’t eat the EXACT thing day after day, it’s a hassle.
there’s just more buttons to push to gain information. to see my total cals for the day, I have to come out of “lunch” or “dinner” page, see the total then go back in to make adjustments. before you’d just scroll to see totals for the day, it was all on the same page.
PLEASE admit defeat & at least give people the option of a friendlier interface, this is truly awful. Did you even test it with people who ACTUALLY USE IT? or is this just developers having “great” ideas? UGH0
