Hello Everyone;
I slept all day from finishing my work stretch. I usually go on vacation for my birthday, but when I was ready to request it two girls beat me to it, so I had to work. I will never let that happen again. I had the worst stretch, I closed all of my rings on my watch. On my birthday I clocked out at 10:00 am. So that was 15 hours of work. I asked the day shift charge if I can have a break from the particular patient that was so demanding. Changing poo all night is draining. Then I had to draw labs because his potassium and magnesium dropped. It just went on and on. His mom called to leave directives. I didn't have time to talk, because I had I was busy with her son and another patient. Then for some reason, my feelings were hurt at work and my son forgot my birthday. I told him that I needed time to get over it. When I finally got home there was a package on my door step from Baby Suko. I slept like a rock that day and went back to work. It was a busy week. I cried myself to sleep. DH started his new job at ADT, but he doesn't like it. He is hoping for the Uniter's job. King Coil, he will not hear word till the begining of next year. DH did travel to Texas with the denomination to reach out to the people at the boarder. He had a presentation Friday with Uniter's as one of the finalist for the position. On my way home from work, I got a call that he got the position that offered a substantial alot more money than at ADT. I was so relieved.
If my DH passed, I would live near Baby Suko, but I need my own space. I would get another dog and that is it. I love the area where our condo is in Chicago, so I am good. My other bestie Mar lives close by too. Don't want to re- marry. I can hang out with other men as friends, but I don't want to co-habitate. I am fine being alone with my dog/dogs. I may move to another region like the Pacific North West, time will tell. If I get older and no dementia, I will stay in my home if I do have dementia and am not myself, DNR and nursing home. I want DS to hire someone to manage my money, and DD can look after my care.
Melanie, I love the stories of these busy cows. You can write a children's book about the cows and I know they would laugh. I Binged this morning, but not too severely. 280 calories worth of oreo thins. I got a birthday cake last night with singing. I made sure I didn't take it home. This week was stressful.
Lisa, I am older than my DH too. I am still wondering if I should gamble and get the maximum amount from my retirement. Me and DH are 2 years and 6 days apart, so who knows. 🤷♀️
Heather, when was John's birthday. He looked so handsome in his suit. The water colors are stunning, and I am surprised that John didn't paint as well. The photography is fantastic. This trip sounds amazing.
Allie, we don't charge patients for parking at our hospital. See if they can credit you. I would have been ticked off too.
Annie, I am sorry about your uncle and the words you used to describe him is a wonderful tribute in itself.
Carol, I am so heartbroken that you lost the man of your life. I prayed for you and your family as you grieve this monumental loss in your lives.
Matchka, I love your photography. I am so happy that you were able to get out and ride. What a cure for cabin fever. Bees are so fascinating and so are you.
Rita, I am hoping that you can get the help you need for your son. It is so frustrating and we had that battle with DS. We saved her literally from being sold into sextrafficing. Now she wants the branding tatoo removed. The abuse she went through was also gut wrenching. She did a lot of self medicating. She still needs help and she is about to age out from my insurance.
Kylia, I am amazed how much you get done in a day. I am glad you and your daughters got to go out. Make it a monthly thing.
Michelle, great work on your Raggedy Ann doll from ceramics.
Good early morning everyone.
XO,
Mo in Mississippi

What do MFP and Amazon have to do with each other?
2 -
Machka - The AWS outage pushed a lot of people off a lot of programs, not just MFP. There were all kinds of weird glitches yesterday, mostly in the northern hemisphere, though.
Got a kitty on my lap asleep, and a husband who is probably ready for another cup of coffee, and now I have to choose between them.
That is probably as tough as my day is going to get, in all honesty.
Have a lovely Tuesday, my dears. Hugs for those who need them, cheers for those who are doing well.

Finally getting calves in to vaccinate today. Unfortunately I can’t help because of work so have a couple of friends coming to help.
Scale up again today. I think it’s a continuation from Sunday’s poor choices and overeating. Alcohol too. I would like to cut it out completely. Looking back, I leaned on it a lot as a stress reliever and a social crutch. The feeling of relaxation after those first few sips is why I keep going back. Then I chase it the rest of the evening and always end up drinking too much. My nurse practitioner that prescribes my HRT also prescribed an oxytocin spray. It is the happy hormone. She says it can help with social anxiety. I just feel like it’s another crutch. Life seems to have become much more complicated since my career has slowed and I now have time to face my issues.
Tina- laughed at your comment that Snacks had street smarts 😂 Love the name too! I also like your living alone thoughts.
Lisa- Will try out HABIT. Also, I would lean towards keeping the cat comfortable 🤷🏻♀️
Lanette- we have not thought about guard dogs. They kind of scare me. I had been at a few farms where they had them and they were very aggressive to outsiders. I had one lady shout from her porch as I got out of my truck “Don’t show fear!” as the dog approached. Yeah, ok, not possible! That has me thinking about the time I was almost attacked by 3 rogue turkeys that were roaming the countryside before the client beat them away with a hockey stick. I still get chills down my spine when I hear a turkey gobble gobble. Also had a rooster run up my leg as a sneak attack. Look at all of the memories that are flooding back! Things that haven’t come back to me in years!
Flea- thanks for the supportive post. I am working on the 95% rule. I just go so overboard when I let the flood gates open. It’s all or nothing it seems - years of conditioned thinking.
Debbie- thanks for the cake idea. I am going to try making a chocolate dump cake tonight. Another idea from this group 🙂
Mo- your life is so jam packed with a difficult job. Hoping you can find some peace and rest.
Allie- YAY! You are feeling better 🙂 Loved the picture of Siri. I love the look of uninterested boredom all cats manage to portray.
I have followed Lisa over to substack and have really been enjoying it. I found this yesterday and it really resonated with me:
Take care of yourselves 💕

Melanie - I'm so pleased you're exploring Substack! There are some amazing writers there… and if you haven't read the book "The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma," you might be interested in it. We can experience trauma from what we do to ourselves, as well as what others do to us. Finding your way out of that is possible, but each path is so individual, it's hard to do more than say what's worked for each of us individually. That HABIT habit that I've got myself in is because I have a hard time identifying hunger, because I used food as a drug on my way to weighing 300+ pounds. I find it hard to know when I'm actually hungry. Most people find it hard to know whether they're thirsty or hungry. The interesting part of being inside these bodies is just trying to figure out what's human and what is just our lived experience!
Carol - I woke up thinking of you. While you find yourself walking through that valley of the shadow of the death, I know you can take comfort in your abiding faith. My condolences once more to your family.
Having a hard time writing today. Y'all may have figured out that I absolutely adore my husband. But while he is at home, it takes me forever to string two thoughts together in a row. Not being cranky—honestly! It's just so much more fun being where he is that I don't want to sit in front of a computer and write, I want to go over THERE. Where he is.
So I will.
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR8 -
I meant to check in with Lanette yesterday, then work happened.
My scale is moving again. After months of the scale NOT moving, I am pleased. The jumps are within a pound, but happy for moves! I have been averaging about 5,000 steps in the morning while catching up with you. I have continued to average over 11,000 steps per day. I still struggle with tracking food, but do try to make good choices. Like Flea, I try to choose a better option when can. That could be a different item, a smaller serving, or a different distraction. If I try to deny myself something, I will eat 1000 calories, then still eat what I was craving!
Mo- Happy for DH getting job. Sorry your birthday week was so hard. What you do is amazing!
Tina and Melanie- Our bodies are like rivers, they ebb and flow. Not every path is smooth or straight. Small shifts can make big changes. You do know what to do for you, so make one small doable change. For me that is walking every morning. Yes, it is around my house, but otherwise I eat more than I burn. I listen to folks say not keeping certain things around helps, but for me the opposite is true. Maybe this is due to have nots growing up and first marriage, but....if I have chocolates in the house I may nibble. If I don't have any, I really will eat anything to curb that want, then end up at store to get chocolate. Homemade cookies, well, I rarely make them! When I do, I enjoy for a day or two then am done. I was unhappy with weight gained from nicotine quit and refused to buy new clothes. Once I decided to dress this new body I started losing weight! Go figure.
I know there was more but am now at work and should get work stuffs done.
Hugs!
Prayers!
We really need to be less hard on ourselves! We have lived life and our bodies continue to help us do that! We may be slower and fluffyer, but we are living!
Lots of love,
Kylia in Ohio

AWS is a cloud system that hosts many business applications. Because it was down off and on yesterday, all kinds of businesses that host their applications on AWS were affected. Amtrak reservations were down, and my husband couldn't get into tinkercad, the system he uses to design 3d printing projects.
Maybe it will be a wake up call to people that Bezos controls more of our lives than just an online marketplace. It was a wake up to me, for sure.

Good day today. We are in La Gomera, a small island, famous for its primeval laurel forest, a UNESCO biosphere reserve. I joined a nearly five hour tour around and over the island, taking in the forest with its lichen covered trees. I just love lichen! It started off cloudy, but it cleared to be the perfect day. I'll post the photos from my phone.
John went on a hiking expedition through the forest and thoroughly enjoyed himself. It's a place I've wanted to visit for a long time, ever since the great forest fire of 2012, which was on our news. It took out the south side of less mature trees, but was devastating for the island, because the forest is a natural water catcher. I love untouched natural, ancient forests.
John walked into the tiny town this afternoon while i had a nap. There is only one street of historical interest and a pretty church. He brought back photos! 😁
The show last night was brilliant. I've seen the group, Glitterati Classics, twice before on cruises, but I love them. Hugely talented. Really laugh out loud funny. The lead Irish guy on the double bass is extraordinary. They are performing again tomorrow.
I may give tonight a miss. Everyone is saying the ventriloquist is amazing, but it's not really my thing.
Tomorrow is Tenerife. I can't remember which tour we've signed up for, so must do some research and listen to the destination lecture. I hope it starts a bit later, as the early starts are a bit of a rush, even with breakfast in our suite. We could see Mount Teide on our tour today, around 30 kms away. It is 'the highest mountain in Spain', even though we are just off Africa!
Love to all, and i will post a few photos.

Today I woke up saying, "no, just no"! Then I laid there 10 minutes then grumbled, " ok, ok"! So gym day 2 of this week. I did not jog today, my knees were sore last night so I rubbed some Voltarin on them. I got my heart rate up to 135, and called it good. My blood pressure was 110/69. Yesterday it was 97/72. A bit low!
Today getting our flu shots. Then husband needs to do some printing at the library. (its free). Then I wanted to try out those steak nuggets from Arby's. So I am having those with some boiled baby potatoes, butter and fresh baby spinach.
Have a nice day all!

Good day, ladies,
I have many things on my plate. I have to visit my mom and pay for this month. I am so late. This month has gone by so fast. It would be better to mail in the payment. The good thing is I have the money to pay it. The execution is the problem. Between migraines, exhaustion, and headaches, it has been hard. Rose would love to have an outing, and Rose is allowed to go in and visit. I also need to fill out paperwork for a student. It is raining here in Mississippi. The rain is much needed. The leaf change was not so pretty this year.
Heather, I would have skipped the ventriloquist as well. John is a great traveling partner. He lets you be you. Then shares his adventures later. I wish my DH were like that. Mine wants to do it all together. He will soon learn that it is essential to let me have my naps.:) I get grumpy otherwise or wilt. I loved my naps even when I was in my 20s.
Lisa, enjoy your man while he is home. You can do writing and other stuff when he is out working.
Carla, I got my card and it was so pretty. Thank you so much, it is now sitting on my fireplace mantel.
Allie, please keep us in the loop about that parking ticket. I am ticked off for you. The kids are growing up so fast.
Rebecca, I wish you could have gone to Vegas to meet your family.
Pip, I hope you get that carpet soon.
Melanie, I just heard of a new recipe that is easy peasy. Mix the spice cake mix with a can of pumpkin. I added sugar-free, white chocolate, and milk chocolate chips, and it was delicious. I made muffins with it. I just got a new recipe that is a little more work—blender chocolate chip muffins. I will try it and let you know how it goes.
XO,
Mo in Mississippi.

Needed to pop in to say something to Allie. I know you are sick of me. :)
Allie, about your ticket, contact Patient Relations at (203) 688-3430 and explain your case and how this is a big hit to your limited budget. Also let them know that you were so sick that you didn't think about the parking situation at the time. Hospitals should be more cognisant of this.
Heather, the photography is stunning and deserves to be printed and framed.
Carol, you remain on my mind. When you are ready to vent and process your grief, we are here. Losing your person is so heartbreaking. It brings back memories of when my dad died, suddenly in the hospital. I wish I had the right words to say, but I don't. All I can say is that we are all here for you. Sending you a big, big hug, and I'll keep praying for you and your family.

Melanie - Nellie, our Maremma, was very "cool" with strangers. I'll put the rest in the spoiler since it's "farm talk" lol. I've already mentioned some of this throughout the years. 😁If interested, keep reading:
Nellie would bark, and when potential buyers came into the pasture to look at sheep, for example, she'd place herself between them and the sheep. She once took someone by the sleeve to prevent them from coming closer to "her" rams. No rush to bite, just a gentle latch-on. So we put her in a different pasture. She lived in the barn and was with the animals 100% of the time. Never a pet but was friendly to DH and me. In my experience, once they are left out of their pasture and into the yard to interact with humans more, it diminishes their desire to guard their animals. Nellie roamed with her flock over 40 acres. These dogs like Great Pyr were originally bred in Europe to keep wolves from attacking, and grew really thick coats. They like to sleep in the snow, like husky's. When they "blow their coats" in the spring there's a huge pile of white fluff, lol.
I once was attacked by a "free to good home" bantam rooster, he was hiding under a shed when I went out to check the goats. I felt him fluttering around my foot and then noticed warm blood trickling into my shoe from the top of my foot where he'd spurred me and opened a blood vessel. Blasted thing. I went for him and he ran back under the shed. When DH got on from work, no more rooster to worry about.😁 Attack geese are another story, talk about memories flooding back.
"Beat the turkeys with a hockey stick" lol. You really do need to write a book!
So Melanie, you are still a practicing vet - do you work out of a clinic or are you mobile or both?
A little story about those cookies and my blood sugar….more rambling, lol.
After my A1C had dropped a little in recent labs, I was curious about what those oatmeal sandwich cookies might be doing to my blood sugar, so did an experiment. I scraped the sugar frosting middle out so it was basically just 2 oatmeal cookies dunked in 1/2 glass of milk. After 1 1/2 hrs, blood sugar was…. 191! ACK! And that was after walking 15 minutes. Normally, after eating a meal without sugary stuff and walking with weights, it's around 130 and the recommendation is that it should be under 140 after 2 hours. Safe zone.
Another day, I ate the 2 cookies, sans sugary middle, toward the end of my lunch - which was a big bowl of lentil soup, cottage cheese, also some nuts and an apple. Walked 10 minutes and did a little strength training. After 2 hours - 122. 2 lessons here. First, just don't eat sugary and/or high carb snacks. Second, if I MUST eat them, eat them with a high protein, high fiber meal. Sounds like a good compromise.
I think of the habit I had for years eating cookies, popcorn, ice cream, even a bowl of cheerios before bed. No wonder my A1C starting climbing.😣
People that wear a Continuous Glucose Monitor see these results in real time.
Collette just finished and I'm doing laundry - sun today so hope to rake more leaves, gathered FIVE garbage cans of them yesterday and it made a dent. Plenty left to fall.

I have dealt with attack roosters, geese and goats- We had four nanny goats- two were the sweetest girls, they were both Togenberg and their milk was the mildest of them all-not a fan of it but could stomach theirs more than the other two. The other two were Nubians and you knew not to turn your backs on them, one in particular, and they still had horns when my uncle gave them to us(they were in his yard, didn't know who's they were so dad drove up and got them). Their milk was also very strong tasting. We never ate the goats- we bred them (borrowed the boy for a bit but boy was he a STINKY fellow!!)and sold the babies> It was fun but ended up getting rid of all the goats when one died during a c-section with triplets and the other three had mastitis- so we ended up bottle feeding 9 baby goats in our living room-they stayed in a playpen until they got big enough to jump out then they went to the barn. That was a sight- fun when mom and dad had the church out for weekly prayer meetings at the house each Wed. Lots of interuptions from the babies

Awe oh me too, but with us purchasing our car in July, we really don't have a financial pad anymore. My sister bought "The Sphere" tickets that were $300 a seat, plus an overnight stay in Las Vegas. Way too rich for my blood. She called me from my cousins place in Lake Havasu, and she said it was 80'. Maybe next summer we can have a vacation. Its been way too long since husband and I have done any traveling.

Just a little more home improvement adventures:
The day got BUSY. Corey did the bit he wanted to get finished before the rain on Friday, and while he was doing that, I ran to Lowes to get paint for one of the metal outside doors. When they put they put the abominable, roundly cursed siding on the parts of the house that weren't rock, they painted the outside doors to match. But they did it with latex paint. On a metal door. Cracked, blistered, peeled, looked absolutely leprous.
Anyway, Cor dragged it outside for me before he went up on the roof to finish replacing some of the underlayment they covered up with the aforementioned siding and basically created the perfect conditions to rot wood under the siding.
I got back, did the masking, painted the door, then my shelf came in for my exercise room. I was heartily sick of the metal shelving, although it definitely served its purpose. I am finally rid of all but one wire shelf, and it's in the closet. Next, I'm tackling the outside shop again, but using the rolling wire shelves to get things in good shape in there. But that's later.
Below is the exercise room as of this afternoon. So pleased with it. The TV that I put in my craft room and never ever watched a video on, because it was easier to bring it up on my computer. Gives me a bunch more space in my craft room for the things I'm making to sell, as well.
Now I have absolutely no excuses left to keep me from dragging my ever-increasing behind into that room and getting that habit re-started.
Every possible exercise that I am doing at the moment can be accomplished with either the rower, the elliptical or on the yoga mat. Oh - and I should note, the elliptical, I've had for seven years, the rower I've had for at least five, if not longer. The only new bit of exercise kit is the second mat that is a camping mat under the yoga mat, so my ginky knees don't hit the floor!
After getting all you can see in the room set up in there, it left my craft room in shambles from yanking the TV and it's power strip off its top shelves, but it is just a matter of shuffling a few things around tomorrow to get it back where I want it.
Speaking of which - still can't decide whether to gift my latest one to my daughter or sell it - but here's a look at my latest cardigan.
Just one more example of what happens when you let loose an overachiever in a space where she she can become a creator. 👀🤷🏻♀️😂
Corey's toodled off to the dentist, and I've just finished bleaching the bathrooms up one side and down the other. Time to get the shower curtain out of the laundry room, finish getting the bed back together, and then collapsing until he gets back.
I'll have to have his help getting that metal door back on need someone who can manhandle it… 😂👀🥰
Later, y'all, Love, Lisa in AR
PS - If you can't tell from this bit of whizzing around, I think they may have got my thyroid dosage right this time. So nice to get to 5 p.m. and not feel like I'm completely exhausted!

we are more than ready for a little vacation. We haven't gone anywhere in almost 7 yrs now I think- It was right before Covid hit that we took our cruise, nothing since then because we were taking care of MIL. Not even a night away together. I have gone to mom's to help her and dh has gone over night to do shows but he went with his friend. No real vacation. We are going to start looking at cruises for March/April. Just haven't decided if we are going to take the kids with us or not. If we don't, it will be our first trip without our son. DH has already mentioned his friend going with us-he has gone on each of our trips the past 15 yrs or so.
