Day 4 this week, of gym attendance! I woke up blasted hungry! I fixed myself 2 eggs over easy and a Boars Head brand breakfast sausage patty. That did the trick.
My arm still is sore from Tuesdays flu jab.π
Today I will buy some turkey slices, tomatoes and some great hearty bread to make a nice sandwich for lunch. I like those clover sprouts but I can't eat the sprouts quick enough. They only last a day or two. Its only me that eats them.
Speaking of turkey I might buy a thick slice to have for dinner, with some baby potatoes and gravy. That sounds yummy. Today is Dose Day, so my food noise is really amped up!π

My women in supply chain webinar was cancelled last night! I put so much time into developing a good presentation and then practicing it and she cancels at the last minute!!!!! I am so angry. I told my husband I would not be saying yes to another.
Stormi got something in her eye yesterday and was tearing up so I put some visine in hoping to flush whatever was in there out. She woke up this morning resembling a pirate as her eyelids were stuck shut on one side. Once I got the eye opened it appeared fine so it must have gotten out.
Have a busy day at work. Kids and husband are going to help a friend gather some cows on a pasture about an hour away. So most of the day will be very quiet. My DIL offered to make supper so I'm off the hook there too.
I think I had mentioned previously that my 94 year old father had to have one of his replaced lenses removed because it was detaching. They said they can't get a replacement in until January. So he can see but very blurry in that eye. My sister let me know he is driving nonetheless. I am very angry with him. I just hope he doesn't hurt anyone.Rebecca- Mt Hood!! I went to ski racing camps there in the summer. I remember going into the little town and buying frozen chocolate bars- that was very exotic to 14 year old me π I also remember being told that the base lodge was what they used for the outside shots of the movie The Shining. Always creeped me out. We never went in as we just rode the lifts to the top.
My daughter's first 4H calf was bought by our neighbors. We were over there for dinner one night and my son, who was 11, she was 8, said remember Blueberry? I could have killed him right on the spot. They knew where there 4H calves went after sale, but she didn't put 2 and 2 together as to where hers had ended up.
Loved hearing about your life growing up π©· Sounds like you have very warm memories.Take care of yourselves π

Bit of a mixed bag today. Las Palmas, the capital of Gran Canaria, is a big, sprawling city. It does have a pretty historic centre, but the rest is concrete. We visited a volcano crater, but it was cloudy, so hard to get a photo.
The town of Teror has been preserved in the old colonial style, and is very pretty. Lovely basilica with a famous pilgrimage Virgin. They decorate their churches with masses of intricate silver. We had a coffee in the main street.
Afterwards we went to some 19th century gardens , started by a Marquesa. Beautiful, with the second oldest Dragon Tree in the Canaries. 200 years. They served us some very strange boring sandwiches, and a couple of little cakes. Peach juice, and tea or coffee. We had missed lunch on the ship. I bought some traditional Canarian red and green 'mojo' sauces from the little shop. You eat them with little boiled potatoes, or fish.
The butler had left us some salad when we got back. Then I had a nap. I am absolutely knackered. Quite a bit of walking, climbing steps, and getting in and out of the coach. While I was sleeping, John went walking around the ship!!!! Oouuff!
Tonight I hope to see the Graffiti Classic group again, but it's in the lounge, so it's hard to get a good seat. First I will have a shower and wash my hair.

Morning, my dears,
Thinking about my daughter this morningβjust family stuff, not worth going into. Can't fix it from here. Couldn't fix it even if she was here and not in Hawaii, but at least I could hug her. π
Got a Walmart order in to pick up about noon. Making pizza for dinner, so I need to get the dough in to proof when I get back. Making our own means I know exactly what's in it, and it tastes ten times better than the grocery store frozen or even their fresh take-and-bakes, and is an awful lot less expensive than delivery. Not that they deliver this far out. Plus, we've still got the pizza sauces that we made by roasting Corey's summer tomatoes with garlic for hours on end and canning them in 1/2 pint jars.
I also get yeast in bulkβit will keep in the freezer for years, and it's nice not having to scramble to find those silly little envelopes, plus I can adjust it easily up or down.
Already got the masking tape off the metal door and got it dragged inside, plus got all the bits and bobs put back away, remainders of paint, etc. I could put it up, but Corey has put the hinge screws some place that makes sense to him, but none whatsoever to me, so he can put it back up on its hinges when he's ready. At least it's no longer sitting in my carport.
Heather - you look relaxed and like you're enjoying the cruise. Great picture.
Beth - Thank you for the cardigan comment. I'm over Halloween myself, and have been for years. But of course, it makes money for businesses, so they do what they can to keep it alive.
Allie - You sound in your posts like you're beginning to feel better and have more energy. Hope the nausea, etc., have also faded. Many hugs for you and for Doris.
Beginning to enjoy making my son-in-law's afghan, even if I do hate the colors, because it's nice and warm while I'm on couch watching TV at night! The mornings and evenings are cool, and the afternoons are warm. I love fall here in Arkansas, it makes me happy.
Hope it's a peaceful Thursday, past or presentβ¦

Lisa - that insert for the Skyrizi was over the top. I'm sure you could have made a document simple, direct, and understandable.
Barbie - smart thinking letting the computer shop do all the heavy lifting getting your computers up to snuff and ready to handle W11. I'll bet these shops are doing a booming business these days.
Heather - you looked very nice in that photo. Sorry John is queasy - he's done well so far, hope he feels OK and you two can get back in the groove. Again, love love the photos.
Carol - thinking of you and sending many virtual hugs.
Melanie - glad Stormi's eye is OK. Sorry your presentation was cancelled, I know you went through some stress getting ready for it. These old guys and driving when they can't see well or are having cognitive issues from medications or old age ββ scary. I see plenty of them still on the road. That's another reason I shop early early in the morning. The fewer cars on the road, the better.
Beth - this leaf raking and carrying garbage cans of them every day into the back yard has my back aching in places I didn't know it had. Skipping strength training as I figure I'm getting plenty of it doing this.
Rita - thinking of you and hoping things are coming together for your son. Please give Lucy a hug for me!
Rebecca - enjoyed your cow story, what a fun way to grow up with animals. We could never eat our own lambs, but enjoyed eating lamb and even mutton at someone else's house. My dad had an evil cousin who told me I could cut through their cow pasture which contained a bull - he "forgot" to tell me that. When I saw it coming for me I picked up speed and grabbed the gate to climb over and hit the hot wire stretched across it. π£ The bull was smart and would have stopped well away from the fence, but I didn't know that. Very dangerous prank. Hope the cousin suffered from incurable hemorrhoids, lol. He was something else and his wife divorced him - divorce was pretty much unheard of among farm families we knew back then.
Had a nice lunch with L yesterday. Asked her how she juggles all these guys in her life. Well, turns out she's gotten serious with one of them, J, and the other whom she was dating and who was doing handyman stuff in her house found out and threw a jealous fit. The third was just casual backup for something to do and someone go out to eat with, lol. She likes living on the edge and liked my story about GC. π She doesn't mind traveling alone and is planning a trip to Iceland and Finland next year. She told J he could come along if he wanted. She said she belongs to an online group of women who explore and that gave her the idea to go to Finland.
Make it a fabulous day, ladies!π

Nice! I was a ski bum and went night skiing on Wednesday nights to Multopor/ski bowl the lowest ski run. I loved it! My paternal uncle ran the Instructors there at Ski Bowl so I always got free lift tickets and bus tickets from Gresham. A great perk, plus saved my parents hundreds! Never skied at Timberline though! Yes I heard about that movie fact! My roommates Dad when I worked in Portland helped build Timberline. He was an architect. Fun facts abound!π
Yes, my childhood was idyllic for the most part. Until my freshman year of high school when my parents after 25 years married, decided to get a divorce. Tough year, but in one year my Mom met a guy that she would marry and have 15 more years with him. He was "like a father" in that he loved my Mom, which was nice, he got me into opera (watching Pavarotti on PBS) and my love for Japan (watching him trim his Bonsai). So even when bad things happen (divorce), there is good around the corner (having Bob as a stepfather).

Iβve been skimming along but havenβt had the energy at the end of the day to comment.
I have found it all to be quite stressful mostly because I donβt know what to believe and what not to believe. We really need to contact the police I am just heartbroken that I have to do it to family.
I need another two week holiday.

Good Early Morning, everyone. I am definitely on a night shift schedule. I had an appointment with the sleep doctor yesterday morning, and I decided I could go to the market, get gas, and pick up Rose's treats at Hollywood Feeds. Made an Amazon return at Whole Foods, then came home and took out the garbage. Then I had to put the food away. Then after eating, I was ready for a nap, and so was Rose. Then I got several calls from work and a text. The text asked if I had heard about K, and I said no, then I got a call. I started crying because of the call. Thank goodness I was wrong. Her mom didn't care that her airway was out and didn't do anything. Then the day-shift nurse came in and brought her to the ER. They couldn't get her trach in, so ENT had to put it in surgically. So, she is back to our unit, and all of the clothes and stuff we purchased the mom gave away and/or sold. So, someone else asked me to re-buy her hair stuff, and I told them I bought the bows in the med room. I will hold off buying more to see if the mom will get another chance. I hope not, for the mom doesn't seem to care about her or want her.
Heather, looking good, girl!
Lisa, so glad the increase in the Thyroid medication is working.
Allie, the doctor appointments can be tiring.
Machka, I agree with that quote.
Carol, I know you are heartbroken. Sending you tight hugs.
Beth and everyone else, thank you so much for the birthday wishes.
Pip, Ethyl looks content and happy.
Well, I am going to bed now. Take care, everyone. Have a wonderful weekend, and I will talk to you all on Monday.
XO,

Tracey - you are amazing! π So, so, hard all round.
Carol - thinking of you. π
Lanzarote today. I'm very interested in the work of Cesar Manrique, (Google him) and we are visiting his cave and his mirador. Afterwards an aloe vera farm. I wish I could see his house and cactus garden, but we only have one day! Very misty at the moment, but it may clear up. Everything looks better in the sunshine.
Last night Graffiti Classics was fabulous. I just love them. 4th time of seeing. The leader spends a lot of time insulting the audience. Huge fun. Brilliant musicians.
I hope to get some decent photos, but the weather may be against me.

Annie: So sorry about your uncle. π π π for your family in the days ahead.
Heather: Loving all your cruise pics. You and Johnny are living the life!

Cycled a fairly brisk 50 km ride with another lady! It's a ride my husband and I organised and it's the first event I've both organised and ridden in years!
The pace was slightly faster than I've been used to recently but that's OK. I did it!
And pushing ourselves now and then usually means we can make improvements - it's possible.
Sometimes it means that the next time we do something similar, it's easier.
Plus β¦ since we lose weight by breathing, I should have dropped a kilogram or two! ππ

Morning, my dears,
Machka - You look so happy in that picture. I'm glad you can get back out pushing yourself again.
Heather - We cross-posted yesterday. Love the pic of Johnny in the hibiscus, and the rest as well. Thanks for taking us with you.
Tracey - Thinking about you, kid. I know it's a tough time.
Woke up to rain this morning, supposed to rain all day today, tomorrow and most of Sunday, as well. Only a few thunder rumbles, not a lot of wind. So, I'll be working on things in the house - which is all I've been doing for weeks anyway!
What was funny was Egg. I knew when I hadn't seen her in the house, she'd be under the carport, so I opened that door as soon as I got my clothes on. She complained all the way into the house! Not a rain lover, my kitty. She fully believes that carport door will open onto sunshine, though. So an optimistic curmudgeon.
Laundry days, Mondays and Fridays, not sure how two people get through five loads of clothes a week, but we do. Was even worse when I worked outside the house and had to put on business clothes to be in front of other people.
And⦠I'm off to my little bit of domestic bliss. Working on my refrigerator painting today, I think. Won't be easy to do much on it over the weekend, with Corey in and out.
Oh! And got in five minutes on the rower Wednesday and ten minutes on the elliptical yesterday. Yoga, today, I think.
Later, y'all,
Love,

πNew computer mostly sorted out. I still have to figure out how to get the computer to recognize my phone so I can Bluetooth music and podcast files. Fortunately the old computer can do that so for now, all is well. Getting the yard ready for winter is progressing but rain is predicted for the next few days. I can do garage cleanup until the rain stops.
π Heather, I am enjoying every minute of your cruise. Thank you for taking the time to keep in touch with us.
π Allie, I hope things continue to progress well with your health.
β€οΈ Carol, I think of you all the time. I hope you are getting the help to walk through this agonizing time.

I'm afraid my poor photos cannot do justice to the projects of Cesar Manrique, who transformed Lanzarote.
The viewcfrom his Mirador. Unfortunately, in the mist. Better to Google it.
Inside the lava channels. He took a natural phenomenon and transformed it. Unique white, blind, tiny crabs live in that pond.
John waiting for the concert to start. :-) All natural lava.
We also went to an aloe vera farm, where I bought some to drink. An interesting demonstration of the plant.
Wonderful trip. I have wanted to see Manrique's work for years. I came back thrilled and energised instead of worn out.
Tonight is formal evening. Nap first.

This morning's sunrise was breathtaking. Took a photo but it didn't do it justice
The clouds were a bright pink. We all went out in the porch to look at it. The world can be such a beautiful place.
It is going to be 18C today. Very warm for this time of year. Then back down to single digits and hopefully rain by Sunday. Wanting to get out on my bike this afternoon. We'll see how work goes.
I made a chocolate dump cake last night. Didn't have any but the crew seemed to like it. It looked really moist and a little goey.
Making Chinese chicken and broccoli tonight with a side of rice, Chinese dumplings, and spring rolls.
Had the 2 grandsons yesterday afternoon. The 3 year old was so good with his 11 month old brother. I find the younger one a challenge as he's crawling and wants to get into everything. My house definitely isn't baby proofed enough. We watched Shawn the Sheep, read books, played with everything I had in the 2 toy bins I keep for them in the living room, and ate a few snacks. They were exhausted by supper time so I think I did good π
Lisa- I had no clue that you could freeze yeast π€·π»ββοΈ Good tip.
Machka- Awesone ride!
Heather- I knew a woman who drank aloe vera juice everyday and her skin was as smooth as satin into her 80s. No wrinkles. She credited the drink. Such cool picks of the lava channels. Mother Nature never ceases to impress.
Take care of yourselves π

Good morning ladies!
Annie - do you know about Amazon Kindle Unlimited? I think Lisa and Corey use it. I decided to sign up for the free month and ran across a terrific series that reminds me a lot of JA Jance's books (retired detective/PI JP Beaumont helping to solve murders - also on Kindle Unlimited) - setting is around Seattle and Puget Sound, places familiar to me. This first one I read by D. D. Black, "The Bones" takes place in Kitsap County near Hansville - just across the water from Rebecca and a bit southeast of Barbie. My library hasn't has too many offerings I'm interested in lately so glad I came across this. I might keep the subscription once my 30 free days are up, especially this winter when I won't spend a lot of time outside.
Machka - always good to see you and your DH out riding. Glad you two are able to enjoy doing that together.
Heather - wow, I just read up on Manrique. Such a special place, thank you for the photos and taking us with you there.π
Barbie - it's nice to have 2 computers these days as quickly as technology changes. Having that Chromebook has saved my bacon a lot these days. Glad your old one still has the Bluetooth capability.
Melanie - beautiful sunrise. Sounds like you did a good job keeping the grands out of trouble.
Pacific Northwest ladies, looks like we're in for some windy/rainy weather. Some of it might go as far south as Barbara's on the Southern Oregon Coast. Thankfully, it looks like the major wind will be during the daytime today and tomorrow here. I hate the night winds and seeing surprises when the sun comes up in the mornings. I really miss DH during weather like this - he'd suit up and go out and take care of things. I can cope, but he was my security blanket.
Preparing for power outages. Flush water, drinking water ready. Luci light charged up. Hair washed, laundry done and hanging on drying rack. Tablets charged up for some good reading (see above, lol.) Hopefully with all the preps done I won't even see a blink. π
Keeping an eye on the tarps over the chicken coop and run. Think I have them anchored down with heavy straps and bungees.. I figure this is a test run for the fiercer weather we'll get in a month or so.
Make it a super day, ladies! π
