Breakfast: Ricotta pancakes with lemon curd, roasted white chocolate, coconut rice crisps, mascarpone, and yuzu meringue. My one breakfast I get every time I go to Melbourne (with bacon on the side). A breakfast of champions. So good.

I've always been pretty slow, even before I became middle aged & the current circumstances (points at stomach) I'd be pleased to have any period at 5km/30m pace.
Thought I'd use this weekend to try that pace, see how it feels. 5km complete, 400m @ 5.56m/km & 600m @ 7.(variable)m/km x5.
Pretty pleased in my own way.

It felt cooler this morning and the wind was starting to pick up. Hal's plan called for 3 miles at HM pace. I added a warm up and cool down, so ended up with 5 miles. I was able to run the 3 miles at 9:18 miles/min. I am hoping to run the half at about 9:38 so I felt pretty good. We definitely have a cold front blowing in. It will probably be in the upper 30's for my run on Thursday. Honestly, I'm not sure if I am ready for that.

Checking in to say my back is progressing fine, most of the day I barely notice it. The only real time I'm noticing it is in the morning when I'm first getting out of bed and getting dressed, I'm moving at an exaggeratedly slow pace until my muscles loosen up (takes about 10 minutes or so).
I had to stop watching the WS game when they did a "14th inning stretch" if I wanted to get any sleep in. But my boys are now halfway there, just two more wins in the next four games and we'll be repeat champions. Go Blue!

I had my running gloves on today….but I was walking @SummerSkier, just testing them out! Was considering a run outside this afternoon when I got home but the wind was way too cold/strong for me!

When I first started running, I was so slow that I'm pretty sure many folks would question the running. Unlike me, your pace is excellent @username301!
I lasted a bit longer watching @angf0679 but didn't make the end (though my TV was on and I saw it when it woke me woke up!) Hope you can squeak a run in tomorrow!

When I was planning my week, I thought today would be a day at home to run and clean house, etc. But, as often is the case, it didn't turn out that way. My cousin, who lives in IL and is a truck driver, was passing through, so we spent the day meeting him for lunch in Kingsport and then running some errands before coming home.
When I got home, I did a driveway walk. I just didn't have the energy for a run.
We found a restaurant that we will probably return to, Riverfront Seafood Company. Have you been there @Teresa502 ? It had really good food and we got a river front seat, inside. It would be fun to visit when it's warmer and we could sit outside.

I’m back in New Zealand now and have just done my very hilly 11.4km local loop. I enjoyed it but my watch tells me I’m unproductive and need 45 hours recovery! Clearly the carb loading didn’t work!

Great running everyone. Monday was a rest day so went walkabout. This evening was supposed to be a recovery run due to crap sleep but turned it into a pseudo tempo run. Started wheezing towards the 2nd interval end. Need more lungs. It was 7c but a stiff breeze made it brrrr.

@TheMrWobbly its all very simple, well mostly
Tempo means you're moving at a pace that has you huffing a lot and only able to speak in short sentences for 30 mins to an hour
Intervals means run like hell for a short distance and then walk a short while to recover and repeat many many many many many times. Usually it'll feel like you haven't yet recovered during the walk and have to do the next interval
Threshold is where you are crazy huffing your lungs out and maybe can say a word or two. If you're not wheezing, it isn't hard enough. Same 30 mins to an hour.
Then there are Vo2Max runs similar to Intervals but just a shade slower and longer, see aboveSometimes I wonder why I run when there is Uber….🙄
Honestly, all three to me are very similar, I'm still huffing….🤷 just put your left foot out, then the right foot out, then repeat again until the couch shows up😁

I'm the guy with running gloves, shorts & a long sleeve T (likely with the sleeves shoved up) @TheMrWobbly. Not sure if it was the big weight loss or the nerve problem I have, but my hands now get painfully cold while the rest of my body is comfortable & trying to get a tan 😂!
It's funny @WarmJellyfish, I always judged Tempo, Threshold, & Intervals based on which words I'm swearing in those 'word or two' or 'short sentences'.
The Vo2 Max runs make me swear to new levels…. that impresses myself.Posting 2 days.

It's been a rainy week and I'm feeling the mood change. Therefore, the hardest part of this wun was getting myself to the basement and onto the treadmill.
I did the running portion 3/1 min of run/walk at 4.5-5.2/4.0 mph and ended with 4.5 mph. Avg pace was 12:54 min/mile. Avg HR was 129 with a max of 154 bpm.

I ran 5 easy miles today. It was 48°F, feels like 45°. That doesn't sound that cold, but there was a strong NNW wind and it felt cold. I wore sleeves and gloves and capri length leggings. It was colder than I like. But not too bad once I got going. I think the temperature is supposed to be lower in the morning, but the wind should settle down, so hopefully it won't be too bad. I know, I am a wimp when it comes to cold weather. 🥶

Easy Run. HR in the evening seems to be a little higher than morning runs. This may be because the house is warmer in the evenings.

103 running miles for the month! 132 total out of 120 deliberate goal Made it. But wow did not feel like the best month for some reason. …and then stepped up on a curb at work and my knee twisted. why? It is probably ok but you know I am starting to feel like I need some bubblewrap now.
oh and up at 3 am. why? Because is that not always when the battery in the smoke detector in the bedroom chooses to die? chirp chirp CHHHHRRRRIIIPPPPPPPP!!!!!😏 Hey at least I had a replacement and a ladder and had a faint memory of changing the other one out a few years ago.. LOL

Yesterday was a low key Z2 run, shakeout as I call it. Legs a bit tired from the tempo/threshold effort Tuesday, but could also be the meds as I just started on Statins. When a bit further than I thought when one doesn't look at the watch, thought it was a 6k but turned out it was 7.5k. Had decided to try out a different newer route. Loved it, need to be more exploratory. Temp was 10c/50f but that 25kmh/15mph wind made it felt more like 3c/35f brrr. Had gloves, headband, glasses (hate sand in my eyes) and fortunately had brought a thicker shirt when looking at the forecast earlier. There was one new-to-me biggy hill along the way which I now have a love/hate relationship with 😄, need…to…conquer….😏 Nights are encroaching real fast, love running where are shops and seeing all the street and shop lights. Anyone uses yellow glasses for night runs? I do find they enhance visibility a bit thought it was all bs until I tried it. This weekend is the end of daylight savings so it will be dark evening runs from next week. I should order that run light.

I'm one of those idiots who like to look at pace in kmh instead of min/km as I like to do long long distances. Easier to calculate how much time left to the next stop.
Came across this vintage looking building. Love stuff like this, nostalgia, I like old stuff. (Edit: just found out current building was built in 1949!)

I ran 3.50M at 13'21 at a smoothly paved trail through some nearby woods. It is great cool temps, windless, and after a bunch of rain everything is fresh, and all the leaves look like they're having their last gasp before fall.
