The days are just flying by! Just when I thought I was all caught up, I get behind again. My seasonal depression is here and worse this year b/c of son’s situation and middle DS’s estrangement. Such is life. I have a question: is it enabling if I help my son who does not have access to a computer, cell phone, nor case worker that does their job, by helping him apply for scholarships for sober-house rent? He also didn't ask, but I volunteered to send him a couple packs of cigarettes as there are none where he is located now. Up until now, he did all of this on his own with the help of the facility he was in. His currently facility I've heard from my DS and a friend, is the worse one in the state. My husband is not happy I am helping my DS, but that little bit gets him out of depression and gives him something to look forward to. Thought for Today:Who makes it, has no need for it.
Whoever buys it won’t use it.Who uses it, won’t care. What am I? Answer: A casket. RVRita in Roswell 👽️ 7

Debbie - wow, your older sis is "something else". Maybe she'd be happy if you'd put that sis who needs housing on a bus with a one way ticket to Colorado? Hand me the phone, lol.😈 Rebecca - good job! You're getting there. Very proud of you! 🤩 How's your sister doing? Melanie - crossing fingers the calf market picks up. It's always a gamble, as with all "stocks" at selling at the top of the market. I remember one year, when I was very small, my dad took a job sweeping grain out of railcars at minimum wage and was able to bring it home to feed the livestock. There must have been a crop failure or the hog market was way down. Raising livestock for a living really is a tough job - physically and financially. Mo - I worry that you aren't getting enough sleep until you crash from exhaustion or a headache. Good that you are looking for options for your mom. I know I'd be concerned trying to manage things from far away but it sounds like you'll have family and friends in the area who can look in on her and your MIL? Pip - I'm excited to see your new carpeting! Way to go with the running. Hug your pups for me. 🤩 Rita - I don't think it would hurt to send your DS a little care package and other items to lift his spirits. As far as the other, not sure what to tell you. I know a couple people who stopped doing things as you are suggesting for their sons who had mental and/or drug problems. I guess that was tough love to the max. One of them had a sponsor at Narc Anon, and the other's spouse was in an AA program. They had to cut ties for their own sanity. There are probably others who did just fine continuing to help their troubled kids. Praying things work out. Got a message from T early this morning. She let her dogs out at 1:30 a.m. to do their business and one of them got attacked by a deer. He's part Jack Russell and has been attacked before but this doesn't stop him from chasing them. Terriers. T has a large chain link area for him to run and he found a way to dig under it. Large open wound on his side, injured leg, possible internal injuries. She was able to get him in to the vet a 9 this morning. Haven't heard back yet what the outcome is. He's an older guy, this might be it for him. Beautiful sunshine today, it's damp but I plan to finish the big leaf rake project today, hoping leaves dry off a little by this afternoon. Lanette SW WA State 8

Yes it was sweet of them to send me charms! It was my sister and my cousin when they were visiting each other in Nevada. My cousin is with Weight Watchers, and she is the charms person for that. I have them hanging on a chain off my lamp. 💖 Rebecca Whidbey Wa 5

Wowsa! After my exercise, we came home and I took a nap. Not just a wee nap but a 8:30-11:00 am power nap! Lunch was coffee! Oh and some protein ranch chips and a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. Is it wrong to eat out of a measuring container??🙃😂 Dinner is my latest obsession. Chilled, cooked, cut up shrimp with cut veggies, dressing. Its really yummy. Plus filling. Afternoon is my favorite large tea. Its really nice to know I am eating exactly the things I like. I hope things start calming down for you all the way around. Stress coming from every direction. Sorry for the confusion- no aunt involved. Only have one aunt who is 80+.
My sister has used up the coverage that she had and no money saved up to pay out of pocket to be in a facility. She needs some help but only really going up and down stairs which she could do if she really had to in my opinion(though I don't know that for sure). Found out from my walking friend that not only should the facility not tell my older sister that the younger one was checking herself out but they should not even tell her that she is even living there at all- She is not on the paperwork so they shouldnt tell D anything at all. After I called D out on it- I haven't heard a word from anyone. I will talk to mom later this evening or maybe tomorrow. The couple that live on the property are taking mom for eye exam then DMV tomorrow to get her license taken care of and I will be there on Tuesday for her MRI. I will spend the night and come home in the late morning on Wed. for class.
If B(younger sister) can behave herself, it might be ok to have her with mom temporarily but I doubt she will for very long, if at all.Heading over to son's place(formerly MIL's place). we have a guy coming to give an estimate to paint the house. DH randomly started talking to a guy at the hardware store, found out the guy was a painter(old guy ,68)-licensed, etc. So dh asked him to come give him a quote. Then he looked at the name and number one of the neighbors over there who dh has known since he was a kid gave him. Same guy- So most likely , unless his quote is totally out of the ball park, he will go with him. Our friend who is a contractor and had some possible guys that could do it just had open heart surgery so we won't be bugging him about this. We will use him when we are ready to redo the electrical box-that really needs to be done-house was built in like '43 or 53, cant remember what he said, but never updated-old glass fuses. Going for happy hour at Jalapeno's after zumba with the class tonight.- fixed up a bowl of treats to take and share. The left overs will go to the neighbor kids across the street- we don't hand out on Halloween. Love the little kids, not the big ones that cuss at me or try and scare me. Debbie Napa Valley,CA 6

Last day. Have I ever told you I hate transitions. !!!! Felt sad all day. The choir performance went really well. The art exhibition was fine and I really enjoyed looking at all the craft results. Will post a pic tomorrow as the WiFi is playing up. We are all packed, and our suitcases are gone. I did go to the last show, but I wasn't in the mood. And it was sooooo loud! I had my fingers in my ears! Do they think we're all deaf? I get very grandmotherly about the dancers and singers. So young. I always get quite attached. I was able to sing the harmonies on stage because the two female singers were standing next to me. Now for a read and, hopefully, a sleep. Love Heather xxx 9

This is what the craft class made. I'm liking the bottles for Edie and Bibi to make. The craft instructor told me how to do it. Heather xxx 11

I LOVE that idea- would love to send B to D for a month or two. And have a video camera there to watch it all. 5

Rita - I think that is a tough question regarding your son. Is he anywhere close to a public place with computer access? I am thinking of maybe a public library or some such place? I would think there would be other local human sevices agencies that could assist. I think it is important that he does most of the leg work. Helping with some essentials can be ok but not with extras. Allie - good to see you feeling better and getting around. Gkids are cute as ever. Heather - your cruise seems to have been a success. Thanks for sharing it with us. Health junk: Currently fighting yet another UTI. They did testing at presurgery appointment, positive for ecoli. After delay over weekend got started on antibiotic Tuesday. See my primary care NP Friday for followup on how bp meds are working ( seem to be want I needed, low dose). Will ask her to order followup culture after meds are finished (only a 5 day script). I am scheduled to go to new urologist Nov. 6- maybe they can figure something out. Right now-goal is to get back addressed Nov. 13 and then hopefully be done with doctors for a while!) I am discovering interesting things living around others. Some days it seems like back in junior high with clicks and petty stuff. One lady for sure does not like me and I am not sure why. I think part of it is jealousy because her next door neighbors and I get along well.(she knew them first). For the most part people get along fairly well and you aren't forced to interact with anyone. I also think some are just cranky because they don't like being old! Well, going to go load dishwasher and get ready for early bedtime. Infection has knocked me down but should feel better in another day or so Take care all, Ginny in Ohio 10

After work stopped at Food Lion since they have cabbage on sale. Came home, took Ganon for a walk, made coleslaw, put yogurt in the IP, and made a spinach feta (which is in the oven right now). Tracey – what a wonderful DIL you are! Mo – you don’t know Vince. He’s one of the absolute pickiest eaters this side of the Rockies. Eat a bran muffin? Surely you jest. This is the guy who is waiting for vitamin E (exercise) to be discovered. He’d rather take a statin than adjust his diet. Not much I can do. I just take 3 cups of bran, a box of brownie mix, one egg (for the binder) and 1-1/2 cups of water. Mix and put in a 12cup muffin tin. They don’t rise, but be sure to spray the muffin cups since they don’t have any fat. Lately, I’ve been adding a scoop of protein powder. I don’t know what the macros are. But I can tell you that it makes me want to drink more water. Oh, bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Pumpkin muffins? No way. I would eat them, but not him. Your egg muffins sound so good. He’d eat the bacon bits, that’s it. You know, I think in some ways Jess likes coming home from work and dinner is all made, she just has to put it in the microwave to heat it up. Unfortunately, I really try not to make things spicy so that Vince’ll eat it. C likes spicy so I have to depend on him to put a hot sauce on things. I’m worried when you say you're driving tired Rebecca – congrats on the fantastic weight loss I think we’ll have rice with the crab cakes. We haven’t had that in a long time. Now Vince will eat vegetable fried rice even tho it has egg in it and you can see it. Don’t ask me to explain that Melanie – whenever there is a change in temperature, I can be assured of getting a headache. My sinuses start to act up. Vince has bowling tonight so if it’s still misting out, maybe I’ll take Ganon for a short walk. When I went to pick up this ceramic truck with a cat insert from a gal at her bowling, she asked if Vince would be interested in being on her team. Bowling Sun, Mon afternoon and Wed. night is a little too much Rita – I don’t think it’s enabling by helping your son apply for scholarships since it’s for the sober house. Personally, I wouldn’t send him a couple of packs of cigarettes, only one. Then again, I’ve never been a smoker so I don’t have much sympathy for a smoker. On the vein of what Ginny said, I know at our soup kitchen, they help with things like this, not just give out meals. They helped one man on disability who had his hearing aids stolen and he also needed to find another place to live. They helped him with both issues Rebecca – many is the time I eat out of a measuring cup, so, no, it isn’t wrong. Better not be! Lol Allie – sMiles did a wonderful job on his pumpkin Heataher – lovely bottles Guess I’ll get ready for bed. No work tomorrow so I’m planning on either using the stairstepper or doing a spinning workout, depending on if the stairmaster is available. Michele NC 6

My sister and I were neck in neck the first 3 months but August was really hard for her, losing her pets that month. She does not log anything down which is polar opposite of me, but we each have our own way of doing things. We are like 8 or so lbs in difference. She also has a neighbor that makes wonderful meals, calls her up to tell her to come join them. She does, and probably eats more out of politeness. My sister is reserved and doesn't talk about her journey. So her neighbor is unaware. Me, I kind of blab to everyone that will listen.💖👍🏼 Rebecca Whidbey Wa 6

it’s very late so I will just give a quick update. MIL said that she felt the house was lost and she of course said how stupid she is. We all corrected her on that.
We’ve told her she’s wanted here and that she is not a bother or a nuisance. She is insistent that she has to go home to pack her things and sell what she can. We told her we weren’t going until we know she will be safe. She doesn’t think the granddaughter has abused her in any way, but she keeps complaining that she has no money for this and that and I’m sure if Maryann thought I wouldn’t be upset she would offer it to her.
we are making the appointment for the POA tomorrow. I think I need to talk to Brodey and the family friend and see if they would have money available if needed for a personal directive at the same time. It wouldn’t need to be enacted yet, but would be good to have in place. The POA would need to be effective immediately for me to help her through this.Kaitlyn’s car broke down on the way home. They had to leave it in a neighbouring town and will deal with that tomorrow.
I have to say my MIL is one strong lady. She teared up but didn’t cry, she just doesn’t understand how someone can do this stuff to her.Tracey in Edmonton 13

Tracey, The entire situation breaks my heart. It is hurtful that your own child would do such a thing without remorse. It is scary to be without a home, without money, and to owe a ton because of unauthorized loans taken out in her name. I would be devastated. I hope Kaitlyn's car will be okay. XO, Mo in MS 6

Tracey - Just major admiration for you. 😘 We are home. More or less the first off the ship and hardly any traffic. We were back by 9.40 a m . Slowly unpacking. I've changed my bed linen. Most things are clean, thanks to the free laundry, so I haven't got a big pile to wash. But I'm taking it easy as I don't want to wreck my back. It is nice to be home. 😁 I do love my home. Our next cruise is in less than 4 and a half months. Same cabin. That could be my last, as I have cleared out my savings. We spent yesterday evening going through the itinerary to cheer ourselves up. Happy to be here, except that we are having a new boiler installed tomorrow. Boo! The house is slowly warming up, but it has a long way to go! I hope the guy can do it easily and smoothly. 🤔 Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx 7

Good Thursday. Well, Kenny made it through his birthday on Tuesday. Passed at home yesterday at 130. He died where he wanted and is no longer suffering. I feel badly for his wife, daughter, and grandson. More nut must go to work. Hugs! Congratulations! Encouragement! Lots Of Love, Kylia in cold and soggy Ohio (at least not snow) 9

😀 Rita, if you can help your son in a detached way with no expectations about the outcome, it would be a good thing. It would be like handing money to a homeless person you passed on the street. Otherwise, you are asking for more heartache. 😀 Tracey, I admire you so much for your care of all your family. 😀 Pip, new carpet sounds great. 😀 I went to the neigbourhood potluck yesterday and had a great time. I talked to people and chose food wisely. 🎵 Barbie in NW WA 10

Yes, Tracey I also want to state that you recognized the situation and took action. Very sad, what family can do to one another... But those recent photos is proof that your dear MIL is where she needs to be.💖🙏👍🏼 Rebecca Whidbey Wa 5

Welp, I am kinda back to organizing my food in the kitchen in mybhead, at night. Thinking what proteins I have, what I can make with what. I suppose that's more proactive than idle food noise that is just "I need to eat the countertop or I will lose it" type of thing. Theres a brand of tins called "Fishwife" that are so yummy! Expensive but yummy! Most recent one I want is tuna belly. The best part of the tuna! Its packaged in olive oil and they have salmon, anchovy, and lots other choices. Am I becoming a tin fan? I can say it all started with Spam... Yesterday my blood pressure was 97/64 with pulse at 112. A bit on the low side, but no light headedness, or any symptoms. I am tracking it. Some days its 100's/60's which is fine. Knowing I will be able to sleep in tomorrow is the only thing that got me up early today! Oh also because today is Dose Day!🎵🎶. Oh and also grocery shopping! Happy Thursday! (Or whatever day it is for you💖) Rebecca Whidbey Wa 6

Breakfast with best friend of niece who past away in her mid forties four years ago and another niece who was her sister. After breakfast took walk around the neighborhood with best friend of my niece who past and stopped to feed the chickens! The coat was a deal I got at Kohl's for $15 right before the trip. It was perfect for their weather and perfect for the weather we are having now. If you watch High Potential it is similar to a coat she wears. She must roast when she wears that because it keeps you warm in the 40-50 temps. 5
