Hi
I am counting calories for the second time in my woman, 65 years old and I weigh a lot. I started at 282 pounds. I got very and was hospitalized. Everything is fine now, but I decided I gotta do something about it so I started counting calories using this I know that’s good. It’s gonna take a long time. I can’t imagine taking off 150 pounds but I guess all I can do is just take it one day at a time keep going and not give up. Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Carol. Thanks for listening.

hi Carol. Welcome back!
Speaking as 63, you are not “very old” Unless you’ve drilled that mindset into your head
I think the world is in a period where people our age are splitting down the middle. People who act and move young, versus people who are overweight, sedentary and happier complaining about age catching up with them and seeking sympathy from their half of the equation
I’m determined to be in the first group. I Exercise, watch what I eat, volunteer, travel. I read voraciously. What’s going on in the world? Oh! That’s new and interesting. If these are my golden years, then dammit, want them to glitter!
I lost from a 24w to a size 4, and am maintaining that 4 by continuing to weigh and log.
Health improved, quality of life improved, ability to play with granddaughter is 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. I want to be remembered as the fun grandma who got in the blanket tent, instead of Bluey’s grandma who walks around saying “oh my hip!” Yeah, the hip hurts, but I stretch or walk it off and get on with my day.
Honestly, my gym skews to a “senior” demographic, and I feel sorry for the ones who are in the dressing room complaining about what they can’t do, and their aches and pains and dating “I wish I was younger like you”. I just smile politely. Babes, I’m your age or older.
YOU make your future. And I am here to tell you, if lard *kitten* me can change my life, any fool can.We want to see you smaller, healthier and fitter. How can we help you reach those goals?

and yes, it’s one day at a time. But imagine what you can accomplish in 365 “one days”?!

Hi, Carol, and welcome!
I can't add anything meaningful to that great post by @springlering62 up there, other than that while she's pretty amazing, she's not alone in being 60+, losing weight, being active. There are lots of women here in that category.
Small steps can add up to amazing things. One key is to make each step manageable and achievable. Another key is to keep making those positive steps: Make a manageable positive change in habits, practice it until it's routine, then make another change. You can amaze yourself with how those things build on each other over time.
And yes, you have the time. I used MFP to lose from class 1 obese to a healthy weight at age 59-60, though "only" from size 20 to 6. I've been at a healthy weight for nearly 10 years since, still in the same jeans size, still active, and turning 70 in a couple of weeks. I feel better and am more functional than I was at 45, and am significantly healthier besides.
I'm cheering for you to succeed: In my experience, the quality of life improvement is more than worth the effort it takes to accomplish. If a hedonistic aging hippie flake like me - a woman with an ultra-modest budget of willpower, discipline or motivation - can do it, I'm pretty sure you can, too.
Best wishes!
