I am new to all this!
I have decided it's time for me to get healthy. I have tried and failed many times. It was actually my husband who suggested for us to start working out and eating better. I feel great so far.

welcome to MFP!
Having been through a period of same, where husband was very gung ho about counting and logging, my best advice is,
If he falters, you keep carrying on.
Mine has out back on some of the weight but not all, and at least he’s a lot more conscious of what he eats. That’s a win right there.
But if he quits, don’t take it as an excuse for uou to do likewise. Norshould you take it badly if the situation reverses.

Welcome, and congratulations on such a positive start. If your experience is like mine, there are many quality of life benefits in your future from the kind of changes you're making now.
Commenting on the post above, I'd say that improving health, fitness, and body weight has at least one thing in common with tennis: It's great for pairs, but it's also worth doing as a solo sport. 😉 I hope you both will be successful long term. Men sometimes need to take a different course, find some things harder, some things easier. Mutual support is great, even if the paths differ a bit.
I joined MFP at 59, when I'd been overweight to obese for around 30 years. For me, it was the perfect tool. I'd been active for a while before joining MFP, but stayed fat - quite constant body weight - despite a steady workout schedule. Don't get me wrong: Improved fitness alone had brought very noticeable quality of life improvements.
MFP helped me lose weight (obese to a healthy weight) and stay there for nearly 10 years since, even though I was older, menopausal, and severely hypothyroid (medicated) . . . all things some people will claim are weight loss doom. IME, they aren't. MFP also helped me make my eating more consistently nutritious and personally satisfying.
The weight loss - probably with some help from nutrition - brought all my formerly-bad health markers into a consistently normal range. The Community here has helped me keep my head in the game with staying active, and maintaining a healthy weight.
Getting fitter is great; combining that with reaching a healthy weight has been absolutely gangbusters.
I'm cheering for you to succeed with your goals . . . it's possible, and powerful.
Best wishes!
