Wow October went by FAST eh?
Thank you Barbie for starting November off on the right track as always.💖. This place is my lifeline, my anchor of accountability, and my safe haven. I really do appreciate that💖!
Here are my stats:
excuse the fuzziness of the photo. Its on my wall next to the calendar and the lighting isn't the best. So my weight loss has slowed but even 4 lb loss isn't a bad thing. For those that don't know, I take a GLP -1 injection pen weekly of Zepbound. Its the lowest dose so, by Wednesday the day before Dose Day, I am feeling some extra appetite cues. I just carry on, do many distraction activities and know the next day will be better.
Goals this month:
-Attend gym with husband Mondays-Thursdays. 10 minutes of weight machines (on lowest weight). 30 minutes of treadmill. Try to do 4 weeks worth!
-keep logging my food. Getting in 90-100 grams of protein, at least 80 oz of liquids.
Big hugs ladies!

Cycled another 50 km Audax event!
12 other cyclists cycled the 100 km length. I am not quite up to that level yet.
Today was a gorgeous day with gorgeous scenery. There was very little wind to start, it did gradually increase but wasn't very strong when I finished. It was a little stronger when the others finished.
The temperature got up to 28C - wonderful! And it was sunny.
There was a BBQ after for all the cyclists.
My husband did not ride but helped out at the finish.
When we got home, he went for a nap and I planned to plant my Bibi plants but hadn't cut enough space for them.
So, I spent the next hour an a half with my mattock again. It's a good upper body workout. 😁

Kids coming over this afternoon. A mini celebration for John's 80th. I've found eight candles in the cupboard! :-)
My leg/knee is sore. Don't know if I might have overextended getting into the bath. Upper thigh mainly. Very annoying.
Almost through the post holiday laundry. Sheets and towels from before mostly. My house is not designed for large items like drying superking duvet covers and summer duvets. No tumbler dryer. Things end up draped over chairs, or the banisters. If I had the money I would hire a laundry service for bed stuff. How gorgeous to have it all come back ironed! I never iron. My cotton linen is top quality, but it never looks its best.
John offered to pick the kids up, but DDIL is taking my son somewhere, so they don't need us to.

I thought time change was next weekend. Luckily nothing important this upcoming week. We have our nephew's annual bonfire next Saturday and I need to see chiro next week if he has availability. TMJ is really acting up. Ice, tylenol, exercises. I can talk, just hard to chew. Loosens up by evening only to tighten up again while sleeping. 😢
I am sure we will be looking for another mechanic. Right now we are busy cleaning and reorganizing. They will need to decide if part time or full time. A company hand book/flyer would be nice. Things like sick days, vacation days, breaks, and lunches. None of which has been an issue until R came on board. He is suppose to be full time, luckily is hourly as he has missed over 8 weeks of work so far this year. That is alot of not paid and no overtime! Funny thing is he can't figure out why he has no money. BTW, he is 62 yo. SMH. Procedures in place would be good.. Said mechanic was a no show/no call again on Saturday. We really need 2 more mechanics and one more counter help.
Tracey- Bless you for all you are doing for your MIL. What a wonderful experience for the family near you.
I love all the home updates. I really need to replace our carpet. The main area is country blue and has been down since 1987ish. Our bedroom is/was light silver and is early 2000's. The thought of moving curio cabinets, safes, and large beds---
Plus a pool table in the room next to master.
Pip- Good luck on your run!
Melanie-Beautiful!
Meant to send this yesterday..…
Got to farm and the dead flies were awful! Spent an hour vacuuming and sweeping before putting things away. Still have to do upstairs.
DH has pulled his knee/thigh muscle. I can't chew and he can't walk. What a team we make-lol!
My October saw little change in weight, an increase in exercise, but relatively good mental month.
Hoping to not add to winter weight, continue walking, and keep my habit stacking working. Time change-ugh. We've got this!
Hugs! Love! Prayers!
Even strong women need help sometimes!

Morning, kids… did all our US friends remember to put their clocks back last night? I did not…
My daughter, now that we're speaking again, sent Halloween pics:
Left to right - my granddaughter in a scream mask and black robe, a decor witch, my daughter (who's very happy with her 20-lb. weight loss), two more decor witches, and my grandson, who is dressed as a Transformer called Bumblebee.
And then, of course, the fun part - afterward, with all the candy. Their mom keeps all but a few pieces for them and those will be treats for months afterward.
She said that Levi handed the cloth bag (the one I made for him last year) to her about halfway through, and said Bumblebee's muscles weren't THAT big.
And last night, I finished that afghan!Remember, Corey is six feet, and holding it as high as he can above his head, so nearly eight feet long, and five-feet wide-ish, maybe more. It's a big honking thing.
The light behind it is the TV - should have probably turned that off!
Anyway, glad to have that off my metaphorical plate and mental to-do list, finally. Just have to mail it, which will be sometime next week. She's very good about keeping things until the celebration day and not opening them. I never have been. Probably why she enjoys holidays and I don't very much.
It is now in the wash, along with my daughter's cardigan. Once they are washed and dried and inspected for any issues in my crochet work, I will package them up and get them mailed off to Hawaii, as well. Reasonably pleased with them both.
Heather - Please give Johnny a happy birthday hug from me. Hard to believe he's 80! Sorry the leg is giving you gyp…
Pip - Forgot to say the carpet looks grand, and thanks for the comment on the curtains. Been a busy couple months for me. 👀🐈⬛😂 Good luck with the run, hope you hit your personal time goal.
Time to go get Corey his second cup of coffee.
Love y'all,

A relative from Norway connected me today and was afraid my uncle had died…This is what I replied to him…
Wish you were here yesterday November 1st. Her daughters, led by Carol, hosted a huge party at a local restaurant to celebrate Connie' s 100th birthday. The room was filled with love...From great grandchildren, nieces and nephew's with their children and great grandchildren, former colleagues from work Many hands pulled together to make it a success. Connie's first reaction was to cry. I was so proud of Carol to organize such a wonderful event for her dad. Good to hear from you. Hope all is well with your family!
I forgot my phone to take pictures because my son drove. I thought I was going to drive so left my phone in my car. We did not have time to go back to get it because we were part of the decorating committee. Son took picture's on my phone and Hope to get them soon. He has to work today so may get them tonight!

Arrived in Calgary around 5. I know that Tracey can concur that Highway 2 is complete insanity. I don't know why everyone is in such a hurry and so angry but it is 3 hours of hell.
Watched the Bluejays loose. Thought they had it wrapped up by the 8th inning but things changed quickly. Not a baseball fan. Got caught up in the hype. I am looking forward to ski racing season.
My sister has a great in home gym. Woke up at 6 and couldn't figure out why I felt so rested. Forgot the time had changed 😬 Worked out for an hour.
Heading to the mountains at noon until Tuesday. Looking forward to some biking and walking although a cougar was captured on my nieces garage camera the other night. That definitely scares me.Lanette- if your vet is able to keep staff she must be a great boss. We had a standard schnauzer growing up and she was loco. She bit everyone in the family except me. The vet wouldn't come into the exam room until my mother had her muzzled. She lived to be 12 and to this day I don't know how we put up with her. She would escape from the house and her beard would would reek because she went through everyone's garbage cans. She brought home a half cooked chicken leg off of someone's bbq one night. She also ate a bag of bread with the plastic on and had to get her stomach pumped.
Pip- I hope you have a wonderful run. Pretty nice gear!
Kylie- flies are the Bain of my existence. Being surrounded by livestock we are inundated. One thing I had to get used to being from the city. Fly poop all over the outside of the house. Then in the fall they come in somehow by the thousands. I vacuum up hundreds where my kitchen window juts out everyday. And this year we are inundated with maple bugs. Blech.
Take care of yourselves 💕

Melanie, We are infested with paper wasps this year (moths one year, beetles, then flies another, changes every year!). One day a lady came to complain about all the wasps at her camper (we had them too) and when she saw we had them she wanted to know why. I’m thinking ‘ask Mother Nature, she may be able to tell you’ but said I have no idea. Each year we get a different bug invasions. The part I laughed about when she left was that she had a fly swatter and was swatting around her head constantly. She was asking to get bit! My DH has to go to the ER if bitten by a hornet or wasps and he wasn’t as paranoid as that lady!

Wow Tracey. Just wow. Your MILs life sounds amazingly like my grandmothers, but I'll spare you the details. Simply put, we called her Cinderella because there really was a stepmother and stepsisters. SMH. God Bless you for taking her in and attempting to set her straight and clear her head. I hope she'll be able to see that real love is not what she's been living.
I totally understand his guilt and his feeling of being "an only child" with siblings. Our oldest DD feels the same way. You just have to keep reminding him of the things that you know. You didn't know what you didn't know. Move forward from here and make it better. Hindsight is always 20-20, but you can't live in the past. He should tell his mom how much he loves her every, single day and make sure she's happy and healthy and loved for the rest of her life and let that BE his apology. That's such great insight, Heather. I never thought of that until you mentioned it! It really does explain a lot about Rodger and his upbringing, what Mom went through as a child. My grandmother went completely the opposite way, but I think that was a "Cinderella" thing too. My grandfather really was her Prince Charming and took her away from her horrors and she "chose" to not hold anything against those people.
Lisa, so sorry that you're dealing with the DD again. I know the same from our 34-year-old DD, so you're correct. Some of them don't know how to communicate anger without lashing out or shutting down. So sad. I'm glad that she reached out. Her way is better than nothin'.
Thanks Kim. I'm excited for you! How wonderful to be able to see well again. I've been praying for you every day.
I found out last week that I have cataracts. Oh joy. Well, at least there's a reason my left eye is so fuzzy! Here I thought my eye-doc just couldn't get it right. I really was kinda ticked. Turns out I was right to be ticked. She said I had the beginning of cataracts, but surgery was a long ways off. Well, if it was a long ways off, why didn't she tell me that the only reason that she couldn't correct my vision was because of the cataract. So, the new eye-doc, who specializes in eye surgery and Lasik, etc. said that exactly. That's why I went in. Because I am just sick and tired of contacts and I have some "fun" money left from Mom & Dad. (before retirement) Good news is that my insurance will pay for the cataract surgery and the "fun" money will pay for the lens replacement I've decided to have. Now I AM EXCITED! No more contacts!
OMGosh Allie! Those grands are just the cutest!!!
Our Halloween was WET. Glad we don't have littles anymore. We were home and dry with Lacy and Nick. Their home was all decked out with a graveyard, skeletons, witches and a leaping spider! Such fun! Harley was a "glowing" skeleton, but he wouldn't let us take a picture.
Yesterday I was at another all-day card-making event. Sixty-two women, making sixteen cards in seven hours, with a break for lunch. WAY fun!
Here are some samples.Love and Blessings

John out driving the kids home. They had a good time, even Max joined in! First we all talked about our different holidays, then we had birthday cake and pretzels. While we were eating we sang the 'warm up' songs we had learnt on the ship. Great fun. They also had a new one which was hilarious.
Then we painted. Even Max painted the temple of Apollo he had seen in Greece.
Later they played Scrabble. A good day.

I am back down to 203.8 lbs. This last week I was jumping all over the place. Yesterday my weight showed 205.0. Go figure.
Today is yogurt for breakfast, lunch is homemade tacos, dinner is veggie salad with a Slate chocolate milkshake protein drink. I have heard good things on my FB group about it. 20 grams of protein. I decided to buy some Fair life Whole milk on Thursday, which has extra protein in it, and lower in sugar. I'm not much of a milk drinker but I have added a cups worth to meals, or in my protein iced coffee drinks. Getting back in the habit of having my afternoon tea again. Its just mint tea, peach tea, honey, lemon juice, and lemonade mix. For some reason the lemon and honey makes sleeping, and breathing better, less phlegm etc.
Yesterday I wrote 7 intro letters to new pen pals. All different somewhat, describing myself in a way that doesn't sound like a grocery shopping list, or an 1980's dating site. "I like pedicures, can pedicures be a hobby?" I wrote in one letter...
I video chatted with my sister and her brain went to info scam artists as to what pen pals are. She is funny, so wary, never talks to strangers etc. We are so polar opposite, but get along well. I am the yin to her yang I suppose. I think I have developed quite a keen sense of people, and sure I listen when the vibe from someone isn't right to me. There is a certain amount of trust you have to have with pen pals. I mean we both share our address on Messenger so that's the first step. Then we go from there. I have now 23 pen pals! One pen pal takes Zepbound like me which is not a common thing, or maybe it is these days.
Time to organize Christmas cards. Hey, if any of you that don't already exchange Christmas cards with me, want to, just send me a private message. Also, any that I exchange with, have moved or your address will be be different, please let me know. Thanks!

We had our neighborhood HOA meeting today (Sat.). I admit, I wasn’t good re: diet. The guy who is the president has this AMAZING pizza truck. And I do mean that the pizza is amazing. I had 3 small slices. Normally, I’m not a pizza lover at all. But his is a different story. Then came home and made corn muffins to have in the freezer. I’ll be leaving in a few for church
We had about 50 t-or-t’ers
Got an email that Bob’s Red Mill has discontinued their coupon program. I also got an email that BC/BS of NC is no longer going to use Fit On Health so I called, they said that now it’ll be Silver Sneakers but I can’t enroll until Jan 1. I just don’t want to lose gym membership for that Thurs.
For the young t-or-t’ers I give them a heaping handful of candy. The older ones came later and they only got a few pieces. For one reason, we were running out of candy. We had to put the cats in either one of the bedrooms or downstairs. They are just too too curious
We were supposed to dress up as a piece of food Fri. at the soup kitchen. I had a costume (got it at the Salvation Army for $5 –good enough). It was of a taco but I figured if I wore a crown from BK I could be a hamburger. Well, so many people looked at me and said “oh, a taco” so I went as a taco! No big deal
Carla – Any Idea when you’ll have the surgery? How wonderful that insurance will pay for it
pip – I’d say that third place was fantastic. You worked so hard. Hey, if I were in that race, I’d probably be in 11th place!
Today (Sun) I did Firms Express Cardio DVD and then some of the Beginning Yoga DVD. Then took Ganon for a walk. Jess was going to go to Ikea and asked me to go with her. At first I was going to go but then I talked to Vince and decided not to so I went to WalMart then helped Vince bring in the Halloween decorations. With Jess’ help, we got it done in a few hours. Came in and started to get dinner ready to just put in the oven. I found out that you can make a baked potato in the air fryer so I’m going to try that (I have an air fryer lid for my IP). We’ll see how it comes out. Update: It wasn't bad at all

Barbie, thank you for keeping us/getting us back on track. Would you remind me of the pub mysteries and the ones set in Ashland?
October summary and November plan:
Piriformis/sciatica finally eased after mid-month therapeutic massage, but cranky knee persisted, gotta love winter. Couple days of BB&B/PT, back to line dancing at least twice weekly. Still no yoga/SWSY or dog group. Couple of long strolls. PS2S consistent-ish..
October summary averages vs September:
WT: 131.4 130.8 up a little
Steps: 4258 4372 down a little
AF days: 65 pct 57 pct betterNovember Action plan for stronger, tidier, kinder-
Stronger: Dailyish PS2S & 10 mins BB&B/PT, MW line dancing, TuTh Chair Yoga, F SWSY, Sa Dog group or long stroll. Make it to Tu pm line dancing when not stormy.
Tidier: listen to a Clutterbug podcast while looking around for one tiny thing that can be done in 5 mins or less.
Kinder: open heart and mind before mouth.Need to focus on building strength and stamina back up. Pull up my big girl panties and do the BB&B/PT daily-ish.
Carol ((hugs held extra extra long)) Like Sue and others have said, hope your family is helping out, not pushing you but supporting you.
Mo last month you asked what I do that gives me joy. Walking with Joe and the dogs down our drive, across the lane and up the powerline easement. Not something I do every day, but when it happens it really lifts my spirits. That and line dancing ;} What brings you joy?
Tracey thankful for so much. That your MIL is safe, that Rodger is on board and cautioned the friend that police must be present when they try to retrieve MIL’s things, that MIL is accepting she won’t be going back (thank Goodness!). You are my hero!
Lisa LOVE the curtain, and the cardigan and the afghan and the exercise room and and and
Pip love the new carpet, and Chispa’s panty… ;) Congratulations on your run!
Heather Bea looks so very somber… LOVE the Johnny birthday party, what was the hilarious song?
Melanie LOVE The pic of you and your sister. You almost could be Rori’s sisters from another mister. Safe travels!
Has anyone heard from Rosalie lately?
Margaret what you said about the true cost of food. IMHO, pay the grocer or pay the doctor, you choose.
Beth yours to Tracey about Rodger and guilt. I am so sorry/angry about your mattress disaster. Sheesh!
Lanette glad to hear T’s JRT is surviving so far. Tranquilizers and pain meds didn’t do much to discourage Tumble from going up and down stairs, jumping up on chairs and beds. Vet will tell T to crate him. Yeah right. Hope the T-shirt does the trick.
Rebecca con VERY gratulations on your consistent success. Onederland is just around the corner.
Rita of all your October accomplishments, the “going weekly” one made me happiest for you. Well done!
Carla one of my friends here is an artist and has had nothing but trouble with her cataract surgery. Something about the correction means her close up vision is shot, lines that should be straight look wavy, all kinds of grief. Don’t think she opted for the corrective lens, but don’t know. Be sure you ask the surgeon about the impact on your art, your card making gives you such joy, I’d hate to see you struggle.
Michele delighted that Jess helped take down the Halloween decorations. Will she and C help with the Christmas ones?
Later, lighter, lovelies!
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMODNovember focus stronger: Dailyish PS2S and 10 mins BB&B/PT.
2025: Chose NOW: to move more than yesterday (see action plan), fuel better than yesterday (hold that after dinner sweet down to two pieces of dark chocolate max), open heart and mind before mouth5 -
Heather - Happy Birthday to John!
Hope you had a wonderful time with the Grands.Kylia - I hate as an employee when there aren’t rules in place. After a while that lack affects everyone. Here in AB the provincial rules apply if there are no formal company policies.
Lisa - I love that cardigan and afghan.
Melanie - I hate that trip down Hwy 2. I don’t know how there aren’t fatalities everyday.
I didn’t know what those bugs were called but I’ve killed quite a few at work and home this year. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen them before.Thank you all for your words and encouragement regarding my dear MIL.We went and bought a dresser off of Marketplace today for $40. I thought it was fake pressed wood. Turns out, it’s solid wood. It’s still in the truck because I need a couple of strong people to lift it into the house. She said she could help me, it can’t be that heavy. 🤦🏻♀️
Kaitlyn and Brodey will probably get it on Thursday.I dozed on the couch this afternoon for a couple of hours. I am so tired!
I cleaned and organized my fridge and food cupboard this afternoon after my nap.
I have to unload the dishwasher and put the handwashed dishes away too before I go to bed.Tracey in Edmonton

Barbara's question:
What brings you joy?
Cycling — especially cycling on beautiful days in gorgeous scenery.
Digging in my garden — for me, the plants are nice, but my favourite things in the garden are the process of digging, the rocks, and setting up the structure.
Reading — especially mysteries with a hint of thriller.
Colouring — the picture is there, but I get to decide what I'm going to do with it.
Coding — the code I use most frequently are SQL and HTML, but there's just something about typing a few words and characters and voila, there's the result, image, page, etc.
