My name is Donna. I am 65 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5’ 5” tall. My highest weight was 253. I would like to lose a total of about 100 pounds and have been working on it for too many years (since 2018). I weigh weekly but also on the 1st and last day of each month for a full month’s account.

CHALLENGE STARTING WEIGHT (FROM July 31st): 189.0
CHALLENGE TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS GOAL: Total Loss of 9.2 lbs to land at 179.8
CHALLENGE ENDING WEIGHT: 184.0
TOTAL LOST IN THIS CHALLENGE: 5.0 lbs
🔜🔜🔜🔜🔜ULTIMATE GOAL: 145-155 (I’ll know when I get there!)
I AM TRYING SOMETHING LATELY. MY GOAL FOR THE CHALLENGE WILL BE 0.1 lbs PER DAY. THAT WILL USUALLY COME TO SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 9 AND 10 LBS TOTAL LOST MOST CHALLENGES. IT WILL BE DIFFICULT BUT I DON’T FEEL IT IS TOO MUCH TO ASK, EVEN GIVEN MY AGE, MY MEDICAL CONDITIONS THAT SET ME BACK AND MY MEDICATIONS. IF I GET BEHIND ON ANY GIVEN DAY, WEEK OR MONTH, I’VE ONLY MADE IT HARDER ON MYSELF AS I HAVE TO THEN CATCH UP. THE SPECIFIC GOALS NUMBERS MAY CHANGE AS I GO ALONG ONLY TO KEEP IN LINE WITH MY GRAND TOTAL LOSS GOAL. IN THE END IT SHOULD BE EQUAL TO 0.1 LB PER DAY OR MORE. I KNOW IT’S A MIND GAME I’M PLAYING WITH MYSELF, BUT IT ALSO FEELS LIKE I’M NOT BITING OFF MORE THAN I CAN CHEW. LET’S SEE HOW THIS GOES!
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

But I’m not gonna lie….. I’m very weak right now. Hanging in there by a thread. I need more motivation! Some household and paperwork projects are zapping all my energy and the fall yard work is taking everything I have in me. No planning time and too tired for structured exercise. I’ve got to try harder! Just 3 more days until my final weigh-in. I know it's too late to make complete goal but I am proud of the progress I've made since day one. I just don't need to get complacent!
🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 10/31 – 184.0 ❌ (Trend Weight – 184.2) Once I got off the rails, I had a hard time finding my way back. I gained one pound this month instead of losing. I’m disappointed in myself as I have no valid excuses. But although I sometimes give IN, I never give UP so I’ll move into the November, December, January challenge with head held high and hope in my heart. Nice job to everyone for showing up and doing your best. Your best is always good enough!

Good news for those that want to try semaglutide! Hers has lowered the cost from 300.00 per month to 200.00. You must buy a 6 month subscription. I have lost 20 lbs on this (you buy it online) and can tell you it is legit. Right now I am off it but since they lowered the price, I may go back on it. I have gained a couple lbs back but I was at a wedding and visiting and there was a lot of eating. I'll see how I do in November and think about it.
5 -
Hi I have started here many times and wasn't consistent. Keep falling off.
I want to lose 10 lbs by end January. Happy to find this challenge and looking for buddies.
6 -
Great!I was looking for some reinforcement for the holiday season and found this challenge! I'm IN! Thanks, @RubyRed427!
My weigh-in days are Wednesdays, so I will post my 1st weight and scale app stats on Wednesday, November 5th, which will be only 8b weeks until New Year's Eve!
I'm glad this challenge will run through the end of January. I think I can lose 10 pounds by then...
Have a great weekend!

Just back on MFP and very glad to find this challenge!! I’m 5’6.5’’ and 176.4lbs as of this am. Ultimate goal is 156. 166.4 by end of January seems challenging (extra challenging with the holidays) but doable.
I’m already down 25lbs since early/mid May thanks to logging with another app, but I think MFP is probably better so moving over for the next 22 lbs.
Thanks for organizing @RubyRed427 and lets all have a great November!4 -
Hi,

Welcome everyone! So happy you are here!
CW 170.0 lbs.
HW 206 lbs.
Been stuck in the 170s for many months. I must admit I have done very little to lose weight. I know what I have to do, so I have to do it! I must track my food. Exercise is not a problem for me; I love it and I get many steps at work daily. I do have dumbbells in my family room that I use frequently. I should put my kettlebell in there too.
This week's goal: Eat fruit every day. No French fries this month. Weigh daily. Post on here weekly.
5 -
My Week One challenge is staying positive, focusing on what I can control. Practicing self-care and gratitude, while challenging negative self-talk. I enjoyed revisiting my weekly goals, adjusting the quantity and quality as needed. I’m back to my balancing, wall squats, dry brushing, hand stretches and foot messages routines.
All routines I found online.
So Happy to be feeling GOOD,
💞 Karen

Hello All.
I'm in again. I love the support of this group and it is a great way for me to not get off track. I have reached goal weight, with the help of the previous challenge, so my goal is to maintain until 2026. I have never made goal weight and have no idea how to maintain. This is a first for me. I usually yo-yo the weight back on so I'm hoping with tracking and posting in MFP, it will help.
If there is anyone else in this group in maintenance, share your pointers. I'd love to hear how you do it. Or if you know of a maintenance group in MFP, that will help also. I looked and can't seem to find anything current.
SW: 145.2
GW: 140-145.
4 -
@lclark04957 Congratulations on reaching maintenance! I'm so glad you are here. We will hopefully all reach maintenance at some point so anything we can learn from you (as you navigate and learn) will be invaluable to the rest of us! Thanks for joining and sharing.

I would LOVE to join this challenge. @RubyRed427 thank you for putting this together.
I'm Meg. Despite being highly active, I have still found myself "overweight" according to my doctor. I am a towering 5'2 and 140 pounds. I turn 30 next summer, and I have purposed that to CELEBRATE my next decade in life, I am going to turn my gentle eye of discipline on my nutrition habits.
So funny story. I am a health-conscious vegetarian endurance athlete (3x marathons per year since 2018, 2x Full Ironmans in the past 2 years, etc)… and I thought, before I started tracking with MFP, that I had a healthy diet. BOY WAS I IN FOR A RUDE AWAKENING WHEN I REALIZED I was regularly putting north of 600 calories of PB on my bagel each morning. LOLLLLL now don't get me wrong, I highly value fueling my training with performance in mind, BUT 600 calories of PB in one sitting is excessive no matter how you spin it.
SOOOOO all that to say I have nicknamed my little intention with "130 by 30" with the emphasis on realigning my nutrition with my training, with the hopes of bringing more awareness to instances like 600 calories worth of PB. LOL.
just through the act of tracking, I was steadily ticking off between .5 and 1 lb per week, but I have stalled out. I am hoping that by revisiting this forum, getting ideas and inspiration from all of you, and accountability to continue my habits, that I will find myself back on a slow descent to my goal. Here are my nutrition habits that have been my guideposts so far. Do you all think I should add anything else?
- 100oz of water daily. I bought a waterHQ bottle that is bluetooth (LOLLLLLL I know) so i actually can track precisely and easily how much I am drinking.
- 100-130g of protein daily. I'm also vegetarian so this is like fighting in the streets lol
- One salad a day
- sleeping 7-9 hours a night <3
(I also exercise daily and get 10,000-25,000 steps a day, but I'm pretty locked in on the training so this isn't something I'm really focusing on with my nutrition quest).
What is keeping you all motivated and how do you all handle holiday food????? ahhhhhh
5 -
@lclark04957 that is so exciting! congratulations! Yes, I'm excited to hear how you learn what works best for you!
4 -
lclark congratulations for your success in last round. Being in maintenance is wonderful 🥇🎯 Best wishes as you continue with your journey.
Meggie love the bluetooth water bottle idea
I’m near ‘goal weight’ but the roller coaster ride of the 🎢 5 pound gain and loss has me feeling confused about my maintenance schedule. My daily nutrition goals:
Calorie 1300-1600
Fat 33 grams
Sodium 2K
Fiber 28 grams
Protein 60 to 100 grams (use powdered whey, collagen, PB, and bone broth)
Veggies 3-4 servings (smoothies are a favorite)
Fruit 2 servings
This usually keeps me full and healthy

I have gained 5.5 lbs since going off Semaglutide so I think I need to back on it. UGH. But it just goes to show it really does work. My husband is going to go on it too. I guess I will spending less money on food anyway.

🦃🦃🦃🦃 11/04-183.2 ❌ (Trend Weight: 183.8) I dropped down to 182.0 Monday morning but found myself back up for no obvious reasons this morning (Tuesday). Below is the food diary chart for yesterday so to say I was shocked at the scale this morning is an understatement. I can only say that I didn’t sleep well, (fitbit has me at 2 hrs 50 minutes last night), no TMI and an extra early weigh-in this morning due to travel today. Hopefully this odd weight and my travel weight from today (most likely truly up) will disappear before too long. I’m still a bit down from my November start weight so there’s that. Diary stats from yesterday below. Gaining 1.2 lbs on these stats don’t seem fair but whining won’t help so I’m planning an excellent day tomorrow.

Hi I’m Lauren and I’m jumping in!
Just turned 50 and ready to lose this 30 lbs once and for all! I’m at 165, 5’4”- or perhaps a hair shy :) My ultimate goal is 130. Interim goal is 150. But I’ll take 155 by end of January. I’m generally a slow loser. Just getting my thyroid back on track and rehabbing a lower back injury so calories/energy balance seems more delicate than ever.
I’ll weigh in on Wednesdays.Excited to be here! Feel free to request me. I keep an open diary.
