My daughter sent me this picture this morning of the sunrise she saw.

She and her brother are working at the auction market today. They leave our place at 5am and get home around 11pm.

Melanie - I have had a bad knee since I was 15. It used to come and go. I do targeted exercises for it every day. I had both hips replaced last year and since then it has been worse. I managed OK on the cruise, and I was pleased, but suffered a relapse on Saturday. It is now arthritis, but I haven't been to the doctor about it. I may do so, just to get an x-ray done. I can't afford to have a private knee replacement after paying for two hips. The NHS would take forever, but it might be worth getting the process started. I keep hoping it will resolve itself with exercises. It is very annoying after paying out so much for my hips.

Apparently there are other treatments coming down the line, but could take years to reach me.

Barbara - safe travels. Be careful out there.

Cold and rainy here today. I have the crockpot full of chicken vegetable soup, will serve with brown rolls from Cheesecake Factory for dinner. Choir tonight and T is going to be passing out Christmas music. Yikes! But there are not really all that many weeks left.

Heather - glad you will be getting the knee looked at. So sorry your DS was injured. Ankles are hard to rehab.

Lisa - I like the window on the fridge.

Tracey - Hope things get easier as you progress with your MIL. Remember you have 2 hands. One to help yourself and 1 to help others.

Everyone take care, Sue in WA

    Lanette,

Thank you. You may be right, but I’m apprehensive. Google led me to sites offering to download driver updates and repairs. They all eventually charge you, so you have to enter credit card info. I talked to some AI helper who offered a real person to help me over the phone - again - money. The main reason I am hesitant is that I think the problem is that there is no update for this driver. I could be wrong, but I think if there was, then I could buy a version of it from either Amazon or Hoyle that actually says it will work with Windows 11. That’s why I’m hesitant to pay money for one of the update programs. I think my best bet is to find him a new, updated poker game in the Microsoft store. I’ll eventually figure something out for him. I was hoping someone would be familiar with a use-friendly one.

I’ll get my son-in-law to help me next time he is up here. He works for Microsoft, but I don’t know how much of this is in his wheelhouse. He does something with medical software. I really have no clue what he does.

Lisa: I love your trompe l’oeil fridge painting.

I have used Biofreeze spray for ages on my back. It does the trick quite quickly.

We did our weekly shopping today instead of yesterday as DH had to go get his routine bloods done yesterday.

Terri - Thank you! It's my first attempt at trompe l’oeil, and I've always loved it.

Thank you again to those who commented and to those who were kind enough not to—again, anyone who thinks everyone who will love their paintings has a few bulbs blown in their light fixture.

Tracey - That kind of stress, especially after all that travel, will lay you out, honey, and your little old folks at work don't need you coming in and making them sick. Good girl for staying home. Try not to feel too bad for Rodger and his little mama. It sounds like they are well rid of most of these folks. They're not losing family, they're losing people who would steal from their mother and grandmother. Hang in there, friend.

Rori - Thanks for the comment, and SO good to see your beautiful face pop up. I'm not sure I know how to be bored, in all honesty, and never really understood it as a concept. Perhaps it was growing up in a rural backwater, where the whole "idle hands" thing was an issue. Although Corey was born and raised in Alaska, totally different environment, and he always has something in mind that needs doing, as well. I think this is the last place where we will have the energy, time and capacity to shape it, and we're having fun making it what we want.

I worked myself silly on that little shop yesterday, but was able to skip the exercising, as I threw some seriously heavy stuff around, and ended up having to shower to get the sweat and dirt off after. Need to stay off my feet today - an entire day on concrete didn't do my knees and ankles any favors.

The weather is lovely - warmest November on record - around 75° highs all this week and next (25+C) other than Sunday and Monday, when the first true freeze is expected, and the temp will barely make it to 50° (10C).

Today is inside stuff - getting things wrapped and in "if it fits it ships" boxes to mail to Hawaii, among other things. I'm using the vacuum bagger to try to get that afghan down smaller before I wrap it.

The other need is getting all the paint stuff organized and put away. Much like when I cook, I end up getting everything out and dirtying every tool! 😂🤷🏻‍♀️👀😂 Corey won't even walk in the kitchen when I'm cooking - makes his head explode. 🥰

I've got my washer and dryer running and the dishwasher, and that soundscape always makes my world feel like it's whirling around right. Got reasonably low electric and natural gas bill notifications in yesterday ($110 and $130 respectively), so I'm pretty happy. Just talked to Corey for his good morning call, and he's having a good day, which always makes me happy, too.

Any of our US compatriots got plans to fly somewhere for Thanksgiving? Or have people flying in to visit them? The travel outlook is getting pretty bleak, apparently. Driving is sounding better all the time.

Hope it's a good day for everyone.

    Love y'all,
    Lisa in AR

It took every ounce of convincing to get myself up.

"Don't look at the whole picture, sometimes its all about doing the next right thing"

So my next right thing was rolling out of a warm bed. Today I can put that I started November out well with a Monday-Thursday workout.

I am now munching bon a Kodiak thick and fluffy protein waffle with smear of peanut butter and sipping coffee.

And Today is Dose Day! Tomorrow is Ramen Day with my friend on the island here. Last time we got together was June for birthdays!

Tracey - you have been through more in the past month or so than many people go through in a decade. When you went back home to visit your mom and see friends, did you have any idea that you'd be stepping in to rescue MIL like this? In my view, your SIL fractured the family quite a while ago, you just pulled back the curtain and exposed it. Hope you get some rest today - you've been able to set a lot of things in motion and you're exhausted. (((((HUGS))))

Allie - so glad you weren't hurt when you fell. By all means let your doctor know.

Kay - that makes sense about the driver and wanting to find a whole new replacement for the card game. I had a little diet app that I used for years, sort of like this MFP that had a food log, exercise log, etc. I bought the download of it for something like $20. Then it didn't work anymore on Windows 10 - they do have a totally online version now, for a price. Seems like every update to all technology creates more problems and cost. I had to get a new phone last year because the old one ran out of storage from all the bells and whistles every update injected.

Hope Dave can find a new card game that he enjoys playing.

Barbie - you mentioned some of Jake's items you donated or gave to the kids. I thought it was neat that your daughter felt comfortable in that the furniture was still there that she remembered. I can imagine the reminiscing and memories of Jake while she was visiting stirred up some feelings. (((HUGS)))

I reached the point that if someone else could use it my DH's stuff, it was easier for me to find a new home for it. His clothing was donated (except for his sweats which I can wear). His drums and guitars and pickup which I sold pretty quickly. I kept one drum and one guitar, but if a music student needed them, I'd gladly give them away. And my own stuff - how many large covered casserole dishes and Pyrex loaf pans does one person need?? Things cluttering cupboards that have no sentimental value.

Weather Report, lol: Looks like one more day of monsoon weather here, then 5 days of little or no rain with some sun peeks if Weather Underground has predicted things correctly. I realized yesterday that I don't have an adequate rain jacket. I'm spending more time walking the property several times a day refilling bird feeders and broadcasting a little seed under bushes and evergreens, hence I got pretty soaked yesterday. I found an old bright orange rain jacket DH used to wear. It was HUGE and just won't do. Maybe the farm store has something kind of lightweight yet heavy duty enough to do the job. Would like something with a hood and bill. On the bright side, I'm not trudging through ice and snow. 😁

Having a late breakfast/early lunch with D this morning. I was hungry so already had my egg and toast. Brain on daylight savings time and all that. After DH passed, she and I would walk nearly every day until my foot could no longer take it and the foot surgeon told me to keep it at 7000 steps since I was close to a stress fracture. Anyway, it did me good to get out and get fresh air and listen to someone else talk about their lives instead of me thinking about how much my life had changed… and didn't change… now that DH was gone. We don't walk anymore, mostly because she and her DH now go to the gym a lot and I realized I treasured my alone time when I walked. So breakfast once a month is a good compromise.

Preparations for DSIL continue. I made the other bed up with the winter duvet. Will dust and clean the bathroom tomorrow morning. I also put the large suitcases in the loft space. John made the base of the moussaka this afternoon. He will put the custard on top tomorrow when we bake it.

I think I'm finished with the pre-holiday laundry now. Just got to wash the two single summer duvets. Amazon is late with the new bath towels, but it still says 'today'.

Poor John is suffering with hemorrhoids at the moment. With him, it happens from time to time. He's been doing a lot of cooking and shopping right now, and is a bit tired looking. 😣

Zoom in half an hour with my old school friends. It's been a while!

Nice to see you, Rori! You are looking great, even if bits of you hurt. 😉
