Weight loss question fasting

Hi,

I have been doing intermittent fasting for around three months now with very slow but steady progress. I was stupidly thinking the less I eat the better so fast days are around 500 but non-fast days i was eating around 1300. I got tired of being hungry all the time and this week I ate around 1600 on the nonfast days. When I weighed myself this morning I had jumped from 89.8kg to 89.2. The week before the loss went from 89 9 to 89.8 Now my question is, is this a fluke? Or did I lose more weight by eating more?

Thanks

Weight loss isn't a race where the person who loses fastest wins. I think you're hyperfocusing on minor scale fluctuations day to day. Start tracking your weight in a weight tracking app like libra, where it will show you your trends. As to your question... you're eating too little. You know that already. It's not that eating more made you lose more, it most likely caused your body to let go of some water weight temporarily.

You can't judge weight-loss based on one week - our weight fluctuates too much for reasons not related to bodyfat. Look at your weight trend over at least 4 weeks.

Your body could have been holding on to water weight from the stress of undereating and when you ate more, there was a 'whoosh' on the scale from losing water weight. Or it could be a coincidence. That's why it's better to look at a longer period of time.

Yeah, you definitely need to eat more. You would normally eat at your Maintenance calories on the non-fasting days.

That weight loss is a one-time interesting data point, however, you are stressing your body by under-eating so drastically - the weight loss isn't going to happen every time you play this game so just get back up to more normal calories for a moderate weight loss. Weight fluctuations are common for everyone and can be from a variety of factors.

Base your actual calorie amount on your weekly and not daily amounts as we have varying daily amounts. Your weight will fluctuate day by day for many reasons however it isnt a reflection on fatloss or gain.

you want to look at trends in your weight as the day to day data can be misleading as far as what's really going on
