I'm thinking about starting 30 day shred. I can do an hour of zumba, or an hour on the elliptical without getting too winded.

...am I ready for it?

you're ready for it. good luck! i started it last night myself
  • I did it in June, and it was the best month of exercise! I was winded the whole time lol. But my stamina increased and by the end of the month I felt like a rock star! I highly recommend it!

I'm on my second round of 30DS and I say you can absolutely do it! There are modifications for "beginners" and if you get super exhausted you can always pause for a second and then jump right back in. Don't be scared....they're very basic movements but let me tell you you definitely see results! I recommend taking before and after pictures and also measuring yourself because each time I've done it I've only seen like a 5lb decrease in my weight but I am so much more toned!! The first time I did it I lost 7 inches and those were just off the parts that I decided to measure. The more areas you measure the more inches you'll lose :)

Yep - you're ready! It's tough, but it goes really fast and because it's cardio and weights, it's really efficient! You feel like you've really accomplished something when you're done!

I think you can do it. I tried it about a year ago and it took two weeks for me to be able to do it without modifying and stopping. After a month I was ready for level 2. Your cardio sounds good; just modify the strength moves if you have to.

Sure! It's different than those activities though. The program really is designed so that anyone with just about any fitness level can do the exercises. If the moves are too difficult you can modify them. Have fun!

Definitely, I just worked my way up to doing 30 minutes on the cross trainer and I'm doing the shred at the moment, it's tough, but it's meant to be.

Good luck! You'll need some hand weights though - I didn't find that out until after I bought the DVD. I couldn't ell you what weight though, that varies from person to person, some people even use cans of beans!
  • Ok, maybe I live under a rock , but what exactly is the 30 day shred and how do you do it? I need to lose 22 pounds by 12/17.

It is a Jillian Michaels DVD...20min synergistic workout...while you work arms, you're working legs.
3mins strength, 2 mins cardio, 1 min abs and repeat 3 times plue warm up and cool down

I didn't lose a lot of weight but lost inches, toned up more, and increased my endurance

Also, have done Ripped in 30 by her

I started the 30DS 5 days ago and am still doing all my normal exercise on top of it.

Like Monday, I did the shred in the morning before work and then Body Pump and Body Balance after work.

And I am doing the shred and Zumba tomorrow, so you definitely don't need to give that up!

The only way to get ready for it is to do it :-P Jillian's workouts are no joke no matter what fitness level you're at.

I didn't see a big weight loss difference in it, but I definitely could tell a difference in tone and endurance. Sadly, I didn't measure beforehand- I wish I would have, just to see the inches difference!

Ohh yeah someone mentioned weights. You CAN do it without weights, but to see results you need them. I started with 3's and 5's, now when I do it I use 8's and 12's  You can find weights cheap used or believe it or not Target has good $$ on weights!
  • Thanks!!

I LOVE IT! I can do it and still manage my 90 minute gym session later in the day. Today is my last day of Level2 so just 10 days of Level3 to come. I wish I had taken measurements and photos when I started but didn't :-(

The first few days nearly killed me as it woke up muscles I didn't know I had but now I feel fitter and more toned than I think I ever have. I have quite stunned myself by sticking to it. You'll love it!
