Whats the going rate for a tooth these days?
Piper my 6 year old has 4 wiggly teeth. Any day now she is going to be a toothless wonder...what is the going rate for a tooth now? Tooth Fairy used to leave me a quarter back in the 80's. Pretty fair to say I would wake up with pretty disappointed daughter if she was left a quarter!
I'm thinking 2$/tooth?

Mine lost his first 2 this summer and he gets $1 for each. The tooth fairy is lucky to have any cash in our neck of the woods.0

Our neighborhood tooth fairy leaves $2 for each tooth. My daughter actually pulled 2 in one night. Needless to say I was digging through the change bucket for some quarters.0

I got a dollar each when I was a kid.
I have a cousin who gets a sawbuck for each tooth. It's bullsh*t.

Aww, I can't wait til my little guy's teeth start to fall out!0

The first tooth was $5, subsequent teeth $2, and on nights there was no cash in the house, the Tooth Fairy left gift certificates!
One thing that I do is get some glitter and sprinkle some around the bed and night table, then I tell them that they must have struggled with her in their sleep, or that she must have bumped into something!0

Wow, the tooth fairy is loaded...we only ever got $1 for the first tooth, .25 for like tooth 2-3 and after that the tooth fairy was rudely crushed.0

My kids have gotten $1 gold coins for each. They just happen to also be what the vending machines at work dispense... 0 0

            I would get a quarter.
I think a dollar a tooth is a great call, kids don't need a lot of money - they have parents providing them stuff, right? I never had money as a kid. 0 I never had money as a kid. 0

Tooth fairy gives my son a $1 coin. Either the Sacajewea coins or the newer Presidential $1 coins.0

We got a dollar, quarter, dime, nickel, and penny for each tooth. Don't know how the tooth fairy always had exact change, but she did.0

I think my niece gets $1 per tooth. She lost one a couple months ago and they forgot to make the exchange that night. They told her the tooth fairy got lost, but maybe she would do mapquest for the next night.0

We did a $2 bill for the first one, and $1 bill for others0

it depends on the teeth. I always got more for my molars. I usually got at least a dollar. If a got a dollar it would be the half dollars so it was super cool to me cuz i had never seen them before. have fun! 0 have fun! 0

We took the easy way out and told my son that last christmas the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus had a horrible collision that neither survived.0

This sounded really funny to me. I know what you meant, but it sounds hilarious.0

When I lost my teeth, back in the 90s, my parents gave me $20 for my first tooth, $5 for the others, and $20 again for my last one.
Teeth that were to get pulled weren't valid for tooth fairy money.0

My kids get whatever we happen to have at the ready. I prefer to give $1, but sometimes it's been up to $10 if that's all DH or I happen to have!0

I used to get $1 for a tooth in the 80's and early 90's and I thought that was awesome (better than a quarter)! Then when I was 11, I had the remainder of my baby teeth extracted (8 of them), and my parents told me that I was too old for the tooth fairy. I was pretty bummed out. It would of been better if they told me they didn't have any money to spare (might have been the case, I was pretty mature and would have understood) but the "too old" bit hurt.
$5 would work or a gift certificate/toy would also work since the tooth fairy works on trade now I'm sure of it.0

I leave my boys a gold $5 coin. Something they can keep for years afterwards.0

the tooth fairy mixed things up at our place.
sometimes $20, but once it was a little bindle of dry cat food.
 no, not kidding.
 yes, the reaction was priceless.0

The tooth fairy left me a phat $20 once. I thought I'd hit the jackpot. Looking back, I bet my mom was saying to herself, "oh *kitten*! I grabbed the wrong bill from my wallet in the dark...that'll learn me!"0

Your son seems a bit ungrateful. The next tooth he lost would have been a lump of coal if it was my kid.0

Your tooth fairy and my tooth fairy must have been cousins. I never got anything more than 25 cents.0
