Dark Circles around Eyes

Hey everyone, this has absolutely nothing to do with fitness but I'm wondering if anyone has any solutions to this. I struggle a bit with dark pigmentation around my eyes, almost looks like I haven't gotten all of my makeup/mascara off when I know I have and I'm trying to figure out a way to get rid of it. Don't have a problem with bags or wrinkles or anything like that, just this dark pigmentation I can't seem to get completely away. I'd love to find some home remedies, something instead of a product that costs a ton of money, but if anyone has tried any products they thought worked I'd still love to hear the suggestion.

Thanks!!

I think it's genetic(mine are AWFUL) and honestly I've found nothing yet.
Except sleep which helps a bit.

My daughter is going to have them oto.

i watched dr oz and if you have a very light skin tone, which i do, it can be the cause for this!

It is actually unrelated to sleep and is generally associated with age. The thinning of skin and the hollowing of your eye cavities are the main causes of these rings.

I actually get a lot of sleep, per my trainers instructions but also because I don't function very well when I'm tired. Sleep is definitely not the problem for me! But thanks for the suggestion.

If it is something new, get to a doctor and get checked for anemia or diabetes, and anything else that can cause that. I know that anemia and diabetes can. I think mono can too. And lack of sleep. And, genetics!

I have dark pigmentation around my eyes so bad in fact that my boss thought it was make-up WTH! I've been told its genetic (by an MD), poor diet (by a dietician), and caused by a lack of sleep (by a total stranger). So, if anyone knows of a treatment or cure please PLEASE send me a message :smooched:

I have em too (and one dark vein right below my eye that ALWAYS makes me look like I get beat up or don't sleep). But Benefit's Erase Paste works wonders to cover them up.

A little cover up wouldn't hurt. I had the same problem under my eyes but they went away once I changed up my diet.

Allergies are the most common cause for dark circles, more commonly food allergies. In kids they are called "Milk black eyes" cause by milk allergies in children. Most allergists recognize these before any testing is done. Also hormones can really have an effect on the dark circles under your eyes too.

I was talking to the girls that work at Planet Beauty they suggested quite a few products. I would just go to a salon and talk to the gals there. Most of them are experienced (hey I said most)
  • sleep, vitamins, and I use this on my face. It's helped my under eye area a LOT. It has helped with my [moderate] melasma too!

(if you're interested in it, you can get it at health food stores too. I also have a code at Iherb that could save you 5 bucks if you're interested. CUP159).

I've heard all kinds of stuff

Engorged veins , lack of sleep, iron, heriditary. Age, STRESS

I know that when I had a healthier lifestyle they are reduced and non existent with a slight tan.

Ex GF bought this under eye wand for me once that seemed to help but I don't use it anymore

    Garner fructis (sp) makes it.

I've had dark circles as long as I can remember, and I'm 25. I've tried covering them up with correctional foundation, and found that I'm so used to them it looks odd when they are gone. *shrug* It's part of what makes me, me. My nice bags hehe. I saw someone said it could be because of fair skin, and I'm a natural redhead that glows in the dark, so I find that believable.

I have awful dark circles too :(

I am very pale skinned and do suffer from anaemia although i take high does of iron to keep me within normal levels.

The only thing i got that worked was Vitamin K cream. It does work while you are using it, but if you stop they do return about a month or so afterwards. It didnt completely take them away but it faded them to a more normal skin tone. Saved me having to pile on concealer everyday!

I have just bought some more as i had a baby 5 months ago and they are as bad as ever now lol

It Cosmetics makes an awesome under eye concealer called Bye, Bye Under Eye. It is enriched with collagen and other ingredients that are good for your skin. Also, it doesn't dry out or sink into lines or wrinkles and actually keeps the area moisturized. I use it all the time. It's an American company located in Seattle, WA. You can probably purchase it through the televised shopping channel or through their website at www.itcosmetics.com. Good luck!

I love Mary Kay's Timewise Firming Eye Cream. It costs $30 and will last about 4 months (breaks down to $7.50 a month) using it once a day. If you don't have a consultant, you can find a local one at marykay.com

Oh, and part of this product's claim is brightening the skin under the eye.

I have this issue as well... have had all my life! Doc said it is just a "fun" condition that really can't be changed (w/o some kind of risky/ridiculous plastic surgery). Sleep of course helps, but concealer has been my best friend! I use All About Eyes lotion first then All About Eyes concealer, both from Clinique (even if I don't put foundation on the rest of my face, I always do thes two steps... and although they're more expensive than say Cover Girl, I think they are worth it and last me 4+ mos). Check out the following link, where the gal shows a great way to put your concealer on that seems to brighten-up the are even more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZL3m0E8xULk *Warning--it's slightly annoying that she is doing a tutorial when she clearly doesn't have a trace of darkness under her eyes, but the technique is the best I've seen* I always use my Clinique stuff mentioned above, and use Bare Minerals Well-Rested powder to finish. You can look through my pictures to see what I look like w/o make-up--I really do feel your pain! :D Good luck!
