Setting Gifts and Goals

When I make goals I usually have to set a reward for myself, just always have been that way. Very reward driven personality I guess... If its something small or something big it really doesnt matter. I know and understand weight lost is the best gift you can give yourself but I am somewhat torn on if this is appropriate in this situation.

I started at 370- 100 days ago, I am at 307 as of this morning. My first goal is to get out of the 300 lb club or more or less lose the 70 lbs.

At 70 lbs my gift is going to be a Cannon T2i camera - much needed upgrade that I was going to eventually get - now this will come at great cost to us as a family so I am feeling really guilty about this being a gift for myself. But, it is highly motivating when I have trackers in my office and at home with a picture of the camera and its stats...

My second gift / goal is going to be a tattoo that I plan on putting on me somewhere to remind myself daily that I will forever make healthier choices ... which that weight goal is another 50 after that so a total of 119.

Any body have any idea on a good tattoo and where to place it when I eventually hit my 120 lb goal?

That's awesome, gotta have the gifts for being determined and reaching your goals! I know once I hit my weight goal I'm getting boobs :)
  • I'm planning to get a small tattoo on my wrist eventually, that might be a good place. I picked it because I will see it every day!

Not sure what kind of tattoo you'd want though. Something meaningful to you...maybe if you lost weight by running a little running shoe (for example!) I'm getting a little horse tattoo :)

Most of the men I know who have tattoos get them on their biceps, on the underside of their forearms, calf, or upper back. Picking a tattoo should come from you though, only you will know what is meaningful. :)

I set goals based on a 2 lbs per week loss and I have only really treated myself at 50 lbs because I needed a pair of jeans that fit.

I have been considering a tattoo but only if I maintain for 6-12 months or bounce back after #2 is born.

I know not what you asked about, but I had to put in my two cents when I read this...

I think this is a fabulous reward for you and the family. The family will get years of joy looking back at wonderful photos taken with this camera you earned with you hard work.

Good luck with the whole shabang!

Yeah I was more or less looking for ideas for my "reminder" I have been obsessed with the Tolkien phrase "Not all that wander are lost" and most likely I would get something related to that phrase on my calf. I was thinking wrapping my right leg calf with the phrase and putting my sons name on it and leave room for more later. I just wanted a constant reminder of a lifetime of bad choices that lead to my weight gain... I was thinking of getting like an old fashioned hanging scale or something

First of all, congratulations on reaching your first goal! I would love a new camera to be able to take great pictures of my kids and myself! I like the quote. How about the numbers 370 on the outer calf but shattered with the quote going around your leg and through the quote? Dang I hope I explained that ok

I like the shattered 370 concept ...maybe like the number 370 broken up or melting off my leg ....

ok...this is as close as I could come....the bottle being the number 370 and the bullet path being that quote....

I would probably separate the quote and the 370 - the quote is more or less a spiritual thing too me. But I am huge into guns too so maybe the bullet through a shattering 370 would work as well ! Lol your just full of ideas !
