Giving blood and exercise

I had a call from the blood bank. They said that they really need my blood type right now. I can go after work tomorrow. I had the paln to do strenght training on friday and was wondering if it could impact my workout.

First if you can give blood....do it!!!!! it take less than an hour. (and to replace the blood you gave, you burn 600 calories!!!! )

Second how did you feel when working out after giving blood?

    I've given blood 4 times...3/4 I blacked out. :( I always wait until the next day to workout, and do a light one. Two days after, I am back to normal. However, I wouldn't do strength training until at least 24 hours after.

    I've been known to do a cardio workout 6-7 hours after giving blood but I couldn't do anywhere near the normal intensity and there was definitely some light-headedness. I definitely wouldn't suggest resistance traning.

    Not sure of your time zone but if you give blood Thurs evening then weights Fri evening should be okay, just need to be aware of how you're feeling. I would guess Friday morning might still be a bit too close.

    I've also sometimes experienced more fatigue for a couple of weeks afterwards.

    I gave blood on Thursday (afternoon) last time.

    I ran easy on Friday and then ran 20 miles on Saturday.
