Question about logging.... just curious :)

I was sitting here logging my food while I eat dinner and I was wondering how everyone else does it. Do you log while you eat? Before you eat? After you eat? Do you find it helpful to log all your meals for the day before the day starts? Just curious.

I normally plan my meals before I eat breakfast... and the snacks I log as I eat them.0

I normally log while i eat. I find that when i ATTEMPT to pre-plan and pre-log, something always goes awry :-)0

I'm eating my last little morsel of the day and then I'm going to log all of my food for tomorrow. If I need to make changes as the day goes on then I do, but logging the day before really helps me stay on track!0

I log breakfast and lunch before I leave for work. Gives me the power to say no to "work snacks.". Log dinner right after dinner.0

i know whatb im going to eat pretty much everyday. so i just log it the day before0

I log when I come home from lunch (Breakfast, morning and snack) then log after I come home from work and dinner (afternoon snack, dinner, evening snack)0

I log my breakfast, lunch and beverages before I leave for work in the morning, this way I know how many calories I have left for the day. I log dinner either just before or while I eat and catch up my water count too. Enter my calories burned at the end of the day even though I work out in the very early morning.0

I usually log my food whilst I am at work. I put in last night's dinner at the same time. I log my excercise at the same time0

I log my whole day normally first thing in the morning besides my last snack, some times i wait untill after lunch to log my dinner but other than that i feel like it keeps me on track though out the day and i have guide lines to follow though so i dont think about over eating, but i feel like as long as your logging it works out any way so just keep doing what works for you!0

I log the morning of and I log the whole day just to give me an idea sometimes I change things but I like to have a basic plan.. I dont have an i phone so I have to use my computer at home and it helps me stay with it at work.0

I've thought of trying to pre-log, but it just doesn't seem to work. lol That is unless I have an abundance of things that I would like to eat (like salads, fruit, chicken breast...ect.), but when the cupboards are bare, it doesn't work very well. lol When I say bare, I mean for things that I would not feel guilty eating.0

I try to plan but it doesnt always work but I don't eat anything until I already logged it.0

I like to log Breakfast and Lunch after I eat but for dinner I put in before to see if I have extra for a snack or treat.0

I usually log in the afternoon so that I can plan my dinner and then log dinner beforehand so I know what snacks I need to add or can add. Final log is at the end of the day.0

Right after i eat, unless i dont know the calories or am going out for a meal. I will check it first than plan accordingly!0

I do it like this. Tihngs often change through the day but that's fne, I add and subtract as I need to. I find that if I log as the day goes by, its harder to get the right amount of snacks ro balance out my meals and exercise.0 -
i log my weeks worth of lunch and dinner as i shop and plan my menu for a week. my snacks during the week at work are always the same and add in my breakfast in the morning while eating and add any extras at the end of the day with my exercise.0

I log right before I eat, I'm logging and planning as I'm prepping that particular meal---breakfast and lunches only.
Dinner, I then plan immediately after lunch is eaten and logged, making allowances here and there for calories remaining.0 -
After each meal or snack I log.0

for the most part, I try to log before I eat. That way I know how many calories I will be consuming and adjust if need-be. It works well for me and keeps me from overeating with my usual excuse that I don't know how bad it is for me.0

Sometimes I will check before I decide what to eat, but I usually count the calories as I make each meal so I know I'm not going over when I sit down to eat and log.0 -
Before I eat. If I log after I end up going way over. If I log before I know that I need to trim it down a bit. This is especially important for me when we have holiday parties, picnics, etc... I don't want to be surprised after I'm done for the day. I actually logged food during a wedding reception once. I saw what people had on their plates from the buffet and started calculating it. "I can add this, this, and this....no that will put me over. How about this, this and this with two glasses of wine? Ok, that works but a slightly smaller portion...."My husband thought I was crazy, but I didn't go over that day. And I'm down from a size 16 to a 4 since January. I think logging works really well.
I pack my breakfast, lunch and dinner in the morning. And log it all by 9 am.0 -
I log the night before and if I need to make changes I do so before I eat that way I know exactly what I'm getting myself into! haha0
-
i log before i eat, every time keeps me from making a big oops with not knowing how many calories something is0
-
I log at the end of the day, since I don't eat that much it's easier to remember what it is0
-
I have to log after every meal or snack, otherwise, I forget or get into the "out of sight out of mind" mode and end up going OVER my calories...which then makes me throw in the towel and have a bad snack.0
