Hi I'm Ela,
I'm also a mother of 3, Hi mom of 3!, mine are all girls though. I heard about MFP months ago and kept putting it off as I kept putting the pounds on. I lived abroad for about 25 years and always had the same weight, even lost baby weight pretty fast though it got harder towards the 3rd one. Since I've moved back here it's been an uphill battle!!!
I'm excited about this MFP and hope to be able to get the most out of it. With all the charts and calorie counts, information and health tips it seemed pretty handy but it appears that perhaps the message boards are the most useful tools of all. Is that so?

I love this site. After dieting for 40 years I finally know what I am doing thanks to this site. I pick up a lot of good info and recipes on the message boards so that is definitely a bonus. Good Luck

    welcome!!

MFP has been the easiest way for me to lose weight and stay on track. (it is still difficult but MFP has been the easiest and most successful way to lose weight compared to everything else i've tried !!)

    you can do it !
  • I think you need to make it your personal journey. The boards are helpful but if you spend more time chatting than exercising it probably won't help so much. The best things I can suggest are are drink 8 to 10 (8 oz) glasses of water per day, get enough protein - mfp seems quite low at 45 (I eat 100) and be honest with yourself. Whatever you eat document it to the best of your ability. Sometimes you will have to settle for something close but do the very best you can. Then you can better know why you are successful or not. I use the little box on the food section to put in my daily weight and also comments to myself. I also use it to put down if my eating extra is due to something emotional, bored, angry, happy, sad, etc. Victories too! Good luck on your journey.
  • Thanks! Do you document as you go throughout the day or at the end?

I use my log as a planning tool. I decide ahead of time (sometimes days ahead) so I won't have the opportunity to make emotional or rushed choices. I can always change it if it turns out differently than I planned. It's especially helpful when I'm packing lunch for work, since my brain doesn't work for a while after I wake up!
