How many cups of water is a 1/2 litre?
When you calculate how much water does that include tea, coffee fizzy drinks and fruit juice?

Replies

  • There's usually 250mls in a cup of water, which is 1/4 of a litre in one cup :)
  • I don't tend to include fizzy drinks/juices etc when looking at my 8 cups of water a day, but yes there is definitely water content in those.

ANYTHING THAT IS NOT PURE WATER DOES NOT COUNT AS WATER, EVEN IF IT HAS WATER IN IT!

Fizzy drinks have calories and other things in it that negates the purpose of drinking it for the water. Your body requires pure, clean water for two reasons: to maintain regular function (e.g. moving oxygen through the blood stream), and you flush all the nasty stuff out of your system (your liver/bladder/unmentionables).

Juices, cocktails, alcohol, coffee, tea, etc. do not count towards water intake.

If you drink something that isn't pure water, it doesn't count towards the 8 glasses/day, because you're adding stuff that needs to be digested and filtered out, using the water you drank with whatever you ingested.

You should be drinking enough water every day to make your urine run relatively clear. If it's dark/heavily coloured, you need to drink more clean water. If it's clear, you're good to go.

I only log straight water in that section and I rarely drink more than 2 or 3 cups a day.......BUT......I eat a lot of salads and vegetables with a high water content so get plenty from them.

The water content in your veggies does not count. You need to actually drink the 6/8 glasses of clear water. Your kidneys need that water to flush out all the toxins in your body.
