Also remember that one gram of fish oil = 9 calories
  • I take krill oil, same benefits as fish oil but: smaller pill, only 1 pill a day, and no fish aftertaste.

So 10 g of fish oil per day seems like a lot. I think AHA recommends 2-3 g day. What are your ideas on how much fish oil to take per day?

What is the best kind to get? I'm new to fish oil, aren't there some kinds that are better than others?

Too much can be detrimental to your health as it acts as a blood thinner. However there is no official recommendation on daily intake.

I just gotta ask... why do you take 10 grams of fish oil per day? Do you notice a difference in the way it affects your body versus 3 grams?

There was a recent medical study on men in which those that took high dose of fish oil had a significantly higher incidence of agressive prostate cancer. It's just one study so certainly not proof of anything, but the researchers were baffled and could find no other causality of those within the study.

Get ones that say "enteric coating" these do not have the aftertaste.

Also, keep them in the fridge. It helps quite a bit but I'm not sure why. I did read somewhere that if you get fish burps, the oil has gone rancid.

The DHA and EPA content equates to 3 grams of actual fish oil in 10 x 1 gram capsules. Check the contents of your bottle and you can check the internet as well.
