Hello :-)

My weightloss has slowed down over the past few weeks, and as a result, so has my motivation.
I was considering doing a 7 day detox, perhaps the lemon detox, to reboot my body, shake things up for my metabolism, give me a break from calorie counting and enjoy the weightloss that comes with it.

Has anyone detoxed before?
What worked for you?
Is this even a good idea?

I don't want to starve, but if it is short, like 7 days, a liquid diet I could do.
I work in retail, and don't have many breaks. I am also quite picky and don't like alot of veggies lol
ALSO I am studying via correspondence so time is of the essense.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :-)

I'm interested to hear what people say on this. However, in my opinion, 7 days without food seems far too long and unhealthy.

The results would be that you would put the weight on even quicker once you start eating again.

Honestly, don't do it... those things are a waste of money anyway. Any weight loss that you have is going to be water weight, and will come right back on once you stop.

My suggestion, change up what your eating, change your exercise and drink more water, if your not already.

Also start lifting some weights if your not currently because that will help preserve the muscle mass, and burn more calories since muscle burns more calories then fat at rest.

Your body already has a wonderful detox system of its own; It involves your liver and kidneys. Unless those aren't working properly, there's no need to buy into the detox hype.
Of course you'll lose weight from a liquid "detox;" if I drank only a few hundred calories each day for a week, I would lose weight too. It would be in the form of water and muscle mass. If I did a "detox" that was 3000 calories of liquid per day, I would gain weight.

Stick to healthy eating and exercise, change up your routine if it isn't working for you. But don't go only downing some lemon and maple syrup concoction for a week, as it's likely more detrimental to your health than beneficial.

Weightloss is not an exact science... sometimes you lose 2kg in a week, another time you're only a few 100g shy of the previous week.

I'm personally not really a fan of "detox" as I don't think it's necessary to put yourself though something that your body will do naturally in 24-48hours or eating fresh food, drinking water and avoiding high-sugar/processed-foods, alcohol, cigarettes, etc.

Unless you have been diagnosed with poor kidney/liver function... your body is designed to flush out what it doesn't need.

I think sometimes that detox is more a psychological than a physiological process.

Some may agree. some may disagree!

You've lost 7kg which is a great achievement and you're almost a third of the way to your goal weight. Be radical... go out for a meal with someone you love, have a treat and don't count the calories. It will give you a morale boost and might even give your body a bit of a shake up....

You can and will succeed... I have no doubt that! You just need to believe that it will happen :flowerforyou:

    That is usually what happens.

I think if you are losing you motivation, just mix things up a bit. My metabolism slowed down, so I ate more & exercise less for about a week. It seemed to work for me. Good Luck...

Downside is I'm picky and there is only so much I can adjust with my work times on 1200 calories with 6 meals.
My boyfriend thinks its a rubbish idea and would have me have a colon cleanse to detox haha

I have a low gi diet with an average of 40% carbs, 35% protein and 25% fats.
I exercise 5 days a week at least, weights 3 days, cardio every day,
I do both high and low intensity cardio work.
Not sure what else to do haha

I did my own kind of detox a year ago with fruit and yogurt for three days and it really helped "clean me out." I
